National Trust pass giveaway

If you’d like to get your children outside experiencing the natural world then the National Trust has some great spaces to visit across the country and they’ve given me a one-day family pass for a Mums do travel reader to use. Here are a few of the hundreds of National Trust places you could visit on a family day out – you can take a picnic or eat at the Trust cafe when you get there.

Blickling Estate in Norfolk offers plenty of picnic spots in its beautiful parkland. Its Jacobean house was once home to Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife. There’s a secret garden and you can hire bikes and segways to explore the grounds.

Croome in Worcestershire was Capability Brown’s first landscape garden and these days has lots on offer for families with children. There are some great picnic spots on rolling lawns and by lakes and follies and there’s even a natural play area where you can build dens.

Hare Hill is a lovely walled garden surrounded by woodland in Cheshire. There’s a giant wooden hare trail to follow through the trees or you can play giant Jenga or croquet in the garden.

Standen in West Sussex is a beautiful Arts and Crafts home on a peaceful hillside. The gardens are lovely to explore and you can build dens in the natural play area.

Hi Gretta, last year we really enjoyed Studland Beach, Dorset. I blogged about it on my website (Twoadultstwochildren.com):

Summertime at Studland Beach, covered with soft golden sand,

is a great place to relax and get tanned!

The kids built a den, a sand castle, and roamed free.

We had loads of fun canoeing and swimming in the glistening warm sea!
