When I was invited to drive on ice in a modified rally car I was terrified (I’d recently written off a car in an accident on black ice). So I made myself do it and was surprised that I really enjoyed the experience. I was on a press trip to Madesimo, a pretty town in the Italian Alps. I took this photo whilst waiting with the other journalists for my turn to drive. You can read more about my ice-driving experience here. After ice-driving we went snow-mobiling, which was also really enjoyable. Then it was time for some delicious Italian food in a mountain restaurant.

Ice driving! This would completely set my nerves on edge and I could not have done what you did. I have had some bad slides on black ice driving on the US years ago and driving in icy conditions has stressed me out ever since. I just remember the feeling of panic when the car just keeps going. Good on you!

I know, it’s so scary when you lose control on ice. But that’s why this experience was great for me, because there was a professional driver telling me what to do!
