Travel toys

I’ve been sent a great product to review which my son is really going to appreciate as we explore Sicily this summer: a Take Me Toys Goody Bag. Take Me Toys is an online toy shop which specialises in selling travel toys for kids. We’ll be driving around Sicily in a hire car and my son will be looking out for the vintage Fiat 500s which he likes to spot. The bag of travel toys will help to stave off boredom on the longer journeys.

Take Me Toys

Alice Jennings, founder of Take Me Toys told me why she started her business: “A couple of years ago I had three children under five and we were off on our first holiday abroad.  I spent ages finding little toys and treasures to keep them busy on the long car and plane journey and was surprised that internet searches for travel toys returned baby toys and as there were no companies that sold travel toys in the UK so I decided to start one.”

On the Take Me Toys website the toys are grouped into sections for toddlers, pre-schoolers and older children. My son’s 11 years old and I think he’s going to enjoy the goody bag which Alice sent for him. His bag contains a couple of magic tricks, two wooden labyrinth mazes (so that his teenage sister has one too), some gooey galaxy putty, some amazing non stick modelling foam, some spy pens for writing secret messages, a mini pinball game, a mini springy, a Woolly Willy toy where you use metal filings to add features to a face, a stretchy snake and some sherbet dip dabs and small packets of Haribos. Each item is light and will be easy to slip in to our luggage.

Alice started Take Me Toys just under a year ago and she says she’s had a great response from parents of young children. Alice says: “Having a small stash of interesting, lightweight things that don’t make a mess can make a big difference to your own stress levels on a journey as you know you have something to pull out the of the hat if the children start to get bored. We suggest that you wrap a small gift and give one each half hour or so (assuming they have been good!) and with little toys from 30p this doesn’t have to break the bank.”

Goody bag

Take Me Toys have sent me one Something for Everyone Goody Bag (which usually costs £32) to give away. This contains an inflatable globe, a Woolly Willy set, a pack of Crayola flip top pens, a junior travel pad, a wildlife beanie toy, a wiggly worm, a pack of wikkisticks, a squiggle game, a pinball game, a wooden brick game, a mini spring, a pop a crayon, some spy pens, some modelling foam and a stretchy snake. Alice has also added some sherbet dip dabs and lollies as an extra bonus. If you’re off on a long journey with young children then this should definitely help to keep everyone happy:

amazing idea! I won’t take part in the competition because my son is far too young to appreciate the toys (6 months- he’s still learning how to grip!) and another child would thoroughly enjoy it! But it’s a product I’ll keep in mind for when we’re travelling and he’s older. xx
