I took this photo in August 2013 on a trip to Amsterdam with my son, then 10 years old. We were invited to fly to Amsterdam with KLM from Manston, a tiny airport in Kent. It was our first time in the Dutch capital and we had a lovely time exploring the city. My son loves football and enjoyed visiting the Amsterdam Arena but I think that his favourite part of the trip was going on a canal boat tour as he was fascinated by the houseboats. My favourite part of our trip was going to the Anne Frank Museum. I’d definitely recommend Amsterdam for a family break with kids – as long as you make sure that you know where the Red Light District is and avoid it.
