Area 47 activities

Area 47

Area 47 is a fantastic extreme sports adventure park in the Austrian Tirol. It offers everything from a high ropes course to white water rafting to blobbing to motocross and many more adventurous activities. I spent a day there with my 11 year-old son this summer and we both really enjoyed ourselves. My son was too young to try out any of the activities apart from swimming in the lake and whizzing down a couple of the water slides but he absolutely loved Area 47. A part of me was secretly relieved not to be able to try any of the scary activities because I couldn’t leave my son on his own but another part of me would have liked to try some of the things. Especially blobbing, where you jump from a tower onto a huge inflatable cushion which is floating on the lake.

My son was enthralled to be watching people doing amazing things like this:

My son says that he’d like to go back to Area 47 when he’s older so maybe we’ll have another trip to Austria one day. To read more about our day at Area 47 click here.

Family travel lowdown

Entrance to Area 47 is free but a one-day ticket to the Water Area costs 21 euros for adults, 13 euros for kids age six -16 years old. Kids under six years old are free. Activities outside of the Water Area such as rafting and the high ropes course are charged for individually and should be booked in advance. You can also stay there in wooden chalets or teepees and it has a good restaurant from where you can watch the action on the lake.

Thank you to Area 47 for welcoming us to the park and to the Tirol Tourist Board  for arranging our trip to Austria.

It’s great fun, although I don’t think I’d be brave enough for the high ropes course!

There are lots of great things to do in the mountains there. I haven’t been to Vienna but would love to go there too.
