I have some great prizes to give away to you, thanks to travel publisher Marco Polo: a camera and a bunch of fab guide books and maps.
Marco Polo guides and maps
I’m going to Tenerife soon, and so I was happy when Marco Polo sent me their Tenerife Spiral Guide, which was published this year. I’ve been looking through it and it’s already told me some things which surprised me – I hadn’t realised that Tenerife is one of the best places in the world to go whale watching, for example, or that the island’s pretty town of San Cristóbal de La Laguna is a UNESCO World Heritage site. I’m looking forward to using the guide when I’m actually in Tenerife.
I’m a fan of Marco Polo guide books (you can read my review of their Amsterdam Spiral Guide here and my review of their Guide to Athens here) because they’re well-written, engaging and practical, and I enjoy reading the ‘insider tips’ from locals which they include. I also really like the pull-out maps which are contained in a plastic pocket inside the back cover of the books.
Marco Polo publish a variety of guide books, covering a wide range of destinations.
Marco Polo Travel Guides, which cost just £6.99 each, are compact and are designed to appeal to travellers who want to experience new things and get off the beaten track. The guides include a pull-out map and a fully-indexed street atlas.
Marco Polo Spiral Guides, which cost £9.99 each, are designed for travellers who have a little time to prepare for a trip and who don’t want to miss anything. This is a brand new series of travel guides, published just this year, and they’re great to use. They include a street atlas and a separate pull-out map in a plastic pocket.
Marco Polo Travel Handbooks, which cost £12.99 each, offer expert advice and are aimed at travellers looking for in-depth coverage of a destination – from detailed cultural information to Insider Tips – in an easy to use format. The guides also contain a large pull-out map.
Marco Polo also publish road atlases, phrase books and maps, including this marvellous World Political Wall Map (which costs £9.99) of which they’ve kindly sent me a copy:
The map is laminated and it measures 120 x 80 cms. It includes the national flags of each country and at the moment our copy is spread out on our dining room table and causing much discussion as to the many, many places in the world that we haven’t been to yet. Marco Polo also publish this fold-out world map which includes a selection of 100 beautiful beaches from around the world:
