If you’re heading to the south coast of Portugal, you’re probably dreaming of crystal-clear waters, striking cliffs, and the kind of scenery that makes you want to grab your camera—or just soak it all in. This 2-hour private boat tour offers a chance to see Lagos’s coastline in a way that’s both leisurely and personalized.
It’s a popular choice, booked well in advance and earning glowing reviews from travelers who swear by its mix of natural beauty and expert guiding.
What we love about this experience is how it combines guided insight with freedom to explore—you get a dedicated skipper who’s in the know, plus the chance to swim and snorkel in warm Atlantic waters.
We had an amazing private boat tour, and Luis truly made the experience exceptional. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was enjoyable and personalized. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests, his country, and especially Lagos—it was refreshing to see the pride and love he has for where he’s from. One of the best parts of the private tour was being able to take great photos without crowds or people in the way, and Luis always gave us plenty of time to get the perfect pictures. The private boat tour is absolutely worth it and I highly recommend it and ask for Luis if you can!
We loved it! Best decision was to book this private boat tour. Experience was on another level. Reaching to the point and checking in was so smooth. John(Our boat rider) was an amazing person. He explained us every single detail about sorroundings on our trip. He also let us drive the boat for pictures and videos. Offered us snacks and juices. Such an amazing person! Overall we had most wonderful time with this trip!
One of the best experiences EVER- and we’ve done a lot of traveling! With Marta as our skipper/ guide, our private tour for my husband and I was at the end of the day. The magic of the Golden Coast was on full display. Marta expertly explored every inch of the Ponte de Piedade monoliths and caves while sharing so much knowledge. And then a pod of dolphins joined us to complete this exceptional experience. This proved to be far more stunning than a tour we took of Benagil earlier in the day (with a different tour operator).
On the flip side, a potential consideration is the limited duration; two hours might feel a bit short if you’re eager to explore every cave or stretch your legs longer at the beaches. Still, for those wanting a quick, immersive slice of Lagos’s coastal charm, this tour hits the spot.
This experience is really suited for travelers who enjoy a private, relaxed ride and want to see the best of the coastline without the crowds. It’s great for couples, friends, or small groups looking for a personalized adventure, with the added bonus of expert guidance.
If that sounds like your kind of trip, keep reading—I’ll walk you through what makes this tour a worthwhile pick, along with some honest insights.

This ensures a smooth start, especially since you’ll need a little time to get acquainted with your skipper and the boat. The meeting point is conveniently located near Lagos Train Station, making it accessible whether you’re coming from your hotel or walking around town.
This 1:1 boat experience was incredible! Exceptionally nice vessel, guided by our wonderful captain: Luis. We arguably had one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Huge shoutout to Luis and to the folks at BlueFleet! P.S. We also had the opportunity to jump right into the refreshing but coldddd water, and I can safely say that I didn’t chicken out! 🙂
This was a fantastic experience with our skipper George. He shared a wealth of knowledge about the Ponte de peodade and Lagos coast and took us into every nook and cranny of these stunning cliffs plus a nice swim at the end. Checkin inside train station was easy and a short 5 min walk to the boat which was very comfortable. Highly recommend!
This was an easy reasonably priced private boat excursion out of Lagos. We went in the morning when it was less windy and less busy out on the water. Captain Louis made us feel very comfortable and he maneuvered the boat professionally. And told lots of jokes! The coastline was beautiful with unique caves and rock formations. Well worth it!
Embarking at Lagos Marina
Once on board, you’ll find the boat comfortably anchored in Lagos Marina. The vessel is typically equipped with amenities like a bathroom, a cooler, and a sound system, adding to the comfort and entertainment. The captain, who is the main point of contact, will give a brief overview of the tour and safety instructions.
Ponta da Piedade & Coastal Exploration
The main highlight of the tour is Ponta da Piedade, a stretch famous for its dramatic rock formations, hidden caves, and lighthouse views. During the approximately 75-minute exploration, your skipper will navigate through the coastline, showing you the sights above and below the cliffs, including secret spots that aren’t accessible from land.
Travelers consistently praise the guide’s knowledge, with one reviewer mentioning how their captain was “very knowledgeable, gave great information about the area,” and even shared tips for spotting whales. Expect to see the lighthouse, pass in front of popular beaches like Porto de Mós and Luz Beach, and possibly jump into sheltered bays for a swim.
Snorkeling & Swimming
A standout feature of this tour is the complimentary snorkeling equipment. The captain might suggest swimming or snorkeling in the clear Atlantic waters—many travelers have raved about the warm, inviting waters for a quick dip. When the guide says it’s safe, it’s a fantastic way to get closer to the scenery and add a fun, refreshing element to your trip.
The guide George was absolutely spectacular, highlight of our Lagos trip. Very informative and accommodating, 100% pleased with the experience.
Very professional, great guide, boats in excellent condition and they take their time – some of the other providers looked like they rushed to the caves and back. Highly recommend
Our skipper was Joao P. He was fun, funny and had great playlist. He made the experience so relaxing. It was such an enjoyable time! A true gentleman and overall great guy. Would recommend him and the experience to all!

Luiz was fantastic and we had a great well organised trip. Even played GNR on the way back 😬🎵🎵. 👏👏👏
Had the best time with Luis! Boat was great, views were great, and service was excellent! Great way to end our trip in Portugal! Would definitely do again!!!
Great way send the afternoon visiting the coastal cliffs. Our skipper John really made the excursion relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommend.
The most glowing reviews come from those who appreciated the personalized, intimate experience—a stark contrast to large group tours—allowing for more relaxed sightseeing and spontaneous swims.
A few less enthusiastic reviews mention safety concerns or weather issues, but these are clearly outside the control of the company. Since cancellation is free if weather turns poor, it’s worth checking the forecast beforehand.

Marta was amazing!! Having a local person guide the tour add so much authenticity and information to the tour. Marta was a wonderful captain and host and we highly recommend this tour for a quick ocean view of the amazing coast of Portugal.
Luis was a fantastic host who took us to the regular tourist sights and got us into position for all the best pictures, but he also took us to a quiet area where we could swim for 20-30 minutes. It was like paradise being able to swim out in the ocean with the blue and green hues of the water all around us. Would recommend to anyone. Well worth the extra cost to take a private boat tour as opposed to the bigger boats with all the noise and young children crying, etc. My three kids were with us but they are adults now and we also took a larger boat tour that just didn’t compare.
We had a lovely trip, as a family of 5. George was our guide and looked after us perfectly. He was knowledgable about the area and made the trip fun. The stop off to swim was the highlight.
Ponta da Piedade & Coastal Exploration (1 hr 15 mins)
This is the core of the tour. You’ll cruise along the coast, passing by interesting sights such as:

Scenic Stops & Photo Breaks
Throughout the trip, there are plenty of opportunities for photos—rock formations, panoramic views, and the lighthouse are prime spots. One guest described the experience as “jaw-dropping,” highlighting how these views are even better from the water.
