A brilliant day out with our guide Diego. He was passionate and knowledgeable as he shared his island home with us. He was very flexible and allowed us to determine how long we wished to spend at each stop and when to move on. He adapted the tour route early on to save us sitting in traffic unnecessarily. Highly recommend, especially with Diego as guide.
Worth every penny! Our driver-guide was Belén—she did an amazing job of showing us all the nooks and crannies of the historic towns on the north coast. My wife has difficulty walking over rough terrain so Belén drove along all the picturesque alleyways and squares so we didn’t miss anything!
Great tour of a beautiful island. Fernando showed us some awesome places. Wish the islands weren’t so far away.
On the flip side, a potential consideration is that the stops are relatively brief, so if you love lingering in every spot, this might feel a little rushed.
This tour appeals most to travelers who enjoy curated local experiences, want to avoid busy tourist traps, and appreciate a guide who can share insights about Tenerife’s history and culture. It’s ideal if you’re after a comprehensive yet intimate look at the north coast’s natural beauty.

We had a great experience on the North Tenerife tour with Gloma Travel. The entire day was well-structured and professionally run, providing a fantastic overview of the island's beautiful northern region. Our guide Belén was excellent. She was knowledgeable and personable, providing commentary that really added depth and context to the places we visited. She managed the itinerary perfectly, allowing enough time at each location so the day never felt rushed. Her professionalism and clear passion for the island were evident. The tour itself was thoughtfully planned, and the transportation was clean and comfortable. We particularly appreciated the hotel pickup service, which they offer f…
Since this a private tour you get to pick what places you would like to visit and the guide will work them into the tour.
Great guide. Adapted the tour to the changing weather conditions and showed us the volcano area as well as two towns and took us to an excellent, authentic (and inexpensive) lunch spot. Happened to be Easter Sunday, so lots was closed, but lots was going on in the towns in terms of parades and celebrations. Would gladly book with them again. They were also very accommodating in terms of holding the tour for us for a bit because we were delayed in disembarkation. Be sure to have WhatsApp on your device to keep in touch with them.
Plus, it’s a private tour, which is a significant plus because it means your group can enjoy a tailored experience without the chaos of large groups.

How the Day Unfolds: An Itinerary Overview
The tour kicks off around 9:30 am, giving you a full day of exploration. The first stop is Mesa del Mar, featuring Playa La Arena de Tacoronte, a black sand beach formed from volcanic activity. Many reviews praise this spot for its calm waters and volcanic sand, great for a quick visit or some beautiful photos. The area also has two swimming pools—one seasonal—that add to the charm of the place.
Travelers typically spend around 1 hour 30 minutes here, and since it’s free to visit, it’s a great way to start the day with some chill beach vibes.
Next, you’ll head to Mirador San Pedro, a viewpoint offering sweeping views of the coast and the protected landscape of Rambla de Castro. This spot is especially appreciated for the panoramic vistas of palm and banana trees, along with historic buildings like Hacienda de los Castro.
This tour of North Tenerife was amazing. A historical and educational tour in which we traveled around the cities of Santa Cruz and Laguna; and the towns of Garachico, Drago de Icod de los vinos, La Orotava and many other beautiful sites. Daniel, our tour guide, was superb!!! He pickup and dropped off us at the port of Santa Cruz in a very comfortable vehicle. Daniel passionately remembered and shared stories, moments and tales that enriched Tenerife’s great history. We definitely had a superb Tour. A must do while visiting Tenerife. Fantastic experience touring the beautiful north side of Tenerife with a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Would definitely recommend!
We really loved our tour guide, a very friendly, knowledgeable guide. Our issue was that we booked a private tour and that is not what we received, we had to share a cramped car with an9ther couple. (Told at pickup another driver called out and we had to share this was NOT communicated in the text messages we recieved) we felt this was a bait and switch tactics as it could have been discussed ahead of time. Also no compensation was made for having to share a private car )
Spending about 50 minutes, this stop provides ample time to soak in the scenery and take photos. It’s totally free, and many enjoy the chance to appreciate the lush, vibrant landscape.
The third stop is Playa del Socorro, a volcanic sand beach located in Los Realejos. Many reviewers mention that the wild silhouette of the north coast is best appreciated from here, with rugged cliffs and ocean views. The stop is about 40 minutes, making it great for a quick scenic break or a short walk along the coast.
From there, the group visits San Juan de la Rambla, a town with one of Tenerife’s most beautiful historic centers. The town’s cultural significance is recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest, and it features a natural pool called La Laja.
Visitors typically spend around 1 hour 10 minutes here, exploring the streets, enjoying the local architecture, and maybe dipping in the natural pool. It’s a real jewel that often surprises travelers with its charm.
Diego was an absolutely wonderful guide as he drove us around the North Coast of Tenerife. He has a wonderful personality and his knowledge of the area was superb. He went out of his way to show us a great time and went past the 6-hour time listed for the tour to make sure we saw everything he wanted us to see. He truly was a wonderful guide and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Unfortunately, I have forgotten our guide's name. It may have been Indira. She was excellent! We visited many interesting sites, and she was knowledgeable and easily answered all our questions. She was professional, yet friendly and made the tour lots of fun. We give a big "Thumbs up" for this tour and the guide!
It's a great overview of many different places. Stops are generally quite brief so bring a drink and snack with you so you can make the most of your time. You are likely to experience several different climatic changes too, so be prepared! Really enjoyed trip.
Finally, the tour concludes at Charco del Viento, a natural bay formed from ancient volcanic eruptions. Surrounded by lava arms, it’s a favorite for both locals and visitors because of its distinctive scenery. The stop lasts about 1 hour 50 minutes, giving plenty of time to take in the views and relax in this unique environment.
What You Can Expect From the Experience

The tour’s timing allows for thoughtful visits, but the brief stop durations mean you should plan to bring snacks and drinks. Several reviews highlight the importance of being prepared for climatic changes—the north coast can get cloudy, windy, or sunny, often all in one day.
A common theme in reviews is the quality of guides. Many travelers have raved about guides like Diego, Mariana, Indira, and Johnny, praising their knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to customize the experience. It’s clear that a good guide elevates this tour, making the places come alive with stories and local insights.

We were able to view a number of beautiful places. Our guide, Gerson, also took up to some out of the way places that typical tourists never see. This is an outstanding tour
Diago was awesome. From start to finish we had a wonderful time. As we talked he would tailor our experience to what we talked about in our conversations. We saw so much in the 6 hrs and learned so much about the history and nature. We loved every minute of our experience and would change nothing.
Have been wanting to do this trip for the last 10 years i have been travelling to Tenerife. Absolutely brilliant. Our Guide, Johnny, was very knowledgable and showed us some really hidden gems. Would thoroughly recommend.
