If you’re dreaming of sun-soaked days exploring crystal-clear waters and discovering tiny islands that look like scenes from a postcard, the Tavolara: 5 Islands tour might just be what you’re after. This full-day adventure departs from La Cinta Beach in San Teodoro and promises a mix of scenic sailing, snorkeling, beach stops, and fascinating sights, all within Sardinia’s protected marine area.
What we really like about this trip is how it combines organized comfort with plenty of freedom—you get to see some of the most iconic spots like Tavolara Island and Cala Brandinchi, plus enjoy unstructured time for swimming and relaxing. The second highlight? The knowledgeable guides and skippers, who make cruising through these waters both informative and fun.
A possible snag? The tour is quite packed, with a full itinerary that includes multiple stops and activities, which might feel hurried if you prefer a more relaxed pace. Also, it’s not suited for very young children, pregnant women, or those prone to seasickness, so keep that in mind.
Everything was great and the trip was exactly what they promise. Lovely day in Sardinias paradise.
Very good, as described. Beautiful beaches. Guide was great – I would have liked more info on history etc but that’s a personal preference.
Beautiful day on the water touring the islands. Pick up was conveniently at La Cinta beach and easy check at the Mediomare beach club booth. Roberto was an excellent captain and guide who was able to describe points of interest equally in English and Italian. Many opportunities to get off the boat and into the water to swim and snorkel at different beaches. I highly recommend this tour!
This tour is perfect for adventurous travelers eager to see Sardinia from the water, snorkel in pristine spots, and enjoy a well-organized day out on the sea. If you love natural beauty, lively guides, and a good mix of activity and downtime, this could be right up your alley.

Starting Point and First Impressions
The adventure kicks off early at Mediomare’s meeting point on La Cinta Beach, where you’ll check in with your passport or ID. The process is straightforward—set your alarm early, especially if you want to avoid rushing. The boat is a small dinghy, which means you’ll get a more intimate experience but also a reminder to come prepared with sunscreen, a towel, and water.
Once aboard, you’ll immediately notice the friendly, knowledgeable guides who set the tone for the day. According to reviews, guides like Roberto and Andrea are praised for their storytelling, language skills, and genuine enthusiasm for the area. This makes the trip not just sightseeing but also a bit of a lesson in Sardinian nature and culture.
The Sailing Experience and Scenic Route
As you set sail, the views unfold in front of you—white sand beaches, rugged granite formations, and shimmering waters in shades of emerald, turquoise, and cobalt. The route takes you past Punta Aldia, once a lookout for pirates, and then onto Lu Impostu Beach, famous for its scenic beauty.
The highlight here is the sense of freedom and adventure. Sailing along the coast, you get to see Sardinia from a different perspective—waves gently rocking the boat, the sun shining, and plenty of opportunities for photos. Many reviews mention the ease of boarding and how well the staff manages the group, making it accessible and enjoyable.
it was amazing. Fino and his partner took care of us well. They are very accommodating and made sure we are very safe and happy. I would love to recommend this trip. is 10/10!!!.
Great day on the water with Roberto who was very accomodating taking us to all the best spots for swimming had a great time
Excellent value for the money! Very long swim day with plenty of swim (4+) stops. The little island we stopped as for lunch was a good place for snacks and drinks, however the line was long so I recommend packing lunch. The lunch island also had a lagoon that was gorgeous, bring swim shoes it's very rocky. Even when rain looked like it was coming in, host tried to squeeze in new swim stops. Bring your own snorkel material. It was hot and there was a cover that was not put up but there was an option to shade if someone needed. Also get a good spot on the boat our you will be uncomfortable between swim stops.
Cala Brandinchi and Photo Stops
Next, you’ll stop at Cala Brandinchi, often called “Little Tahiti” by locals—the kind of beach that makes Instagram users swoon. It’s known for its fine white sand and shallow, calm waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Here, you're encouraged to relax, explore, and take some memorable photos. One traveler mentioned the beach is so beautiful that it limits daily visitors to preserve its charm, which speaks to its delicate appeal.
More Great Tours NearbyIsland Hopping: Molara, Proratora, and Ruia
Moving on, the boat cruises past the small islands of Salina Bamba, Salinedda, and Capo Coda Cavallo. The trip includes thrilling stops for snorkeling and swimming in crystal-clear pools. Molara Island, in particular, stands out for its “stunning turquoise pools,” offering a perfect setting for both relaxation and underwater exploration.
The visit to Proratora Island is notable for its magical cave—a highlight for many travelers. The cave's top-hole creates reflections in the water, perfect for photos, and adds an element of wonder to the day.
Tavolara Island: The Star of the Tour
Tavolara Island is the crown jewel of this trip. Known for its dramatic limestone cliffs and unique rock formations, it offers several points of interest like the Cathedral Cave, the Eye of God, and La Sedia. Many reviews mention how awe-inspiring these sights are, with the limestone shapes providing excellent photo opportunities.
The stop here is also a chance to swim, snorkel, or just wander to the “vanishing beach,” which offers a peaceful, scenic setting. You can grab some local snacks or regional dishes at the beachside restaurants, adding a taste of Sardinian flavor to your trip.
Lunch and Free Time
The 1.5-hour break on Tavolara Island is a good opportunity to eat, relax, and take in the views. Many visitors praise the local food—simple, fresh, and well-priced—making the experience more than just sightseeing. Some reviews recommend packing your own snacks because of the long lines at the beach kiosk, which is a handy tip.
Other Islands and Stops
The journey continues with stops at Isola Piana, Cala Girgolu, Sassi Piatti, and Cala delle Vacche. Each location has its unique granite sculptures and marine life hotspots. The guides take care of giving you context and tips for snorkeling, so you can maximize your underwater time.
Final Relaxation and Return
The last stop is Coda Cavallo, where the tranquil waters and scenic surroundings make for a perfect end to the day. After some final swims and photos, you’ll head back to La Cinta Beach, approximately 6.5 hours after departure.
Overall Experience and Practical Tips

Reviewers like Sarah and Nickola emphasize how well-organized and scenic the tour is, praising the friendly guides and the variety of stops. Many mention the value for money—considering the length of the trip, multiple swim and snorkeling opportunities, and food options, this is generally seen as a good deal.
One thing to note is the group size—small dinghies mean fewer people, which many find more comfortable and intimate. However, the itinerary is quite full, so if your idea of a relaxing day involves more unstructured lounging, this may not be the best fit.
If you’re prone to seasickness, it’s worth considering that the boat rides can be choppy, and the tour isn’t suitable for pregnant women, young children under five, or those with mobility issues. Also, bring your own snorkeling gear if you want the best experience, as guides may only lend masks to those who need them.
What We Love
- The diverse stops allow for both sightseeing and active snorkeling
- The expert guides add educational value and local flair
- The beautiful beaches and caves make for unforgettable photos
- The value for money is excellent for a full-day guided tour
What Could Be Better
- The packed schedule might feel rushed for some
- Limited options for those with specific mobility or health restrictions
- The long lines for food might tempt you to bring your own snacks
