Usoa was a WONDERFUL guide! She was kind, funny, knowledgeable & a local. We went to 5 local bars/restaurants & had 1-2 delicious pintxos & a glass of wine from the Basque region to pair. The last stop we even had some dessert & baines! I wouldn’t have picked a lot of these out myself, so I’m glad I tried them-they were all delicious! It was a great way to eat like the locals & explore different parts of the city. Would highly recommend!
Bob
We really enjoyed the wide variety of regional foods and drinks. Usoa, our guide, was very informative about the history of Bilbao, and it's neighborhoods. It was a wonderful experience.

We had a great time with our guide Marina. We were very lucky as there was only me and my husband on the tour. Marina was very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. She got us to try pintxos we would never have thought to try. And we got to see the area well. The tour was amazing value for money there was so much food and drink. What a great tour and amazing guide. Excellent orientation to wonderful pinxtos in Bilbao. Every bite was wonderful and the company was divine. Marina did such a lovely Job navigating very busy bars (there was a big music festival happening), answering a million questions, and considering guests dietary needs. Highly highly recommend. Best food tour we’ve done (and we’ve done a lot!).
Fiona
Would definitely recommend this tour. The food was varied and delicious and the wines chosen were excellent. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer lots of questions about the local culture. It was a lovely way to spend the evening!

The guide carefully selects each stop to showcase the best of Bilbao’s pintxo scene, emphasizing hot pintxos made to order, which most travelers might miss on their own.

Very delicious tour ! We specifically loved that all pintxos that your guide orders for you to taste, are some that you wouldn't find typically in the pre-made display, but instead they're the hot pintxos that are made per order, therefore, as a tourist, you wouldn't really know that those ones are a big hit from all the bars that you visit, so you truly get to eat pintxos just as any other local ! Also important to mention that your guide will adapt to any food restrictions that you may have and she always has a plan B that will still be delicious ! very well organized !
Colette
Tour was excellent, great selection of foods, catered for likes/dislikes. Food fabulous, wine fabulous. Nice to meet other tourists on the tour, great chat amongst the group. Our guide Desiree, was excellent, very friendly, approachable, excellent at hosting a tour, she was very informed on local history, culture and food. Non alcoholic alternatives provided. Not too much walking, but I'd still recommend flats. Would highly recommend, a highlight of our trip to Bilbao.
Marcel

Learning & Cultural Insights

Our tour with Desiree was fabulous. She gave us lots of information about Bilbao and also about the pintxos and beverages. We had a tour in San Sebastian and the Bilbao tour was so amazing in comparison. The food and restaurants were amazing. Desiree always told us what we were going to get at the next stop. If someone didn't want that item, she substituted something else. Plus, we showed up for the tour with tickets that were for the next day! We were staying 30 minutes away and Desiree kindly included us in her group (there were 8 of us). We were very pleased and this tour was a big highlight of our trip!
Alexandra
Sara was superb! Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were introduced to some delicious pintxo and local drinks – we learnt so much about Basque cuisine and culture! Sara also gave us a list of other places we might like to try to have dinner before we leave. I highly recommend this tour – a must do while you are in Bilbao.
Rosie
Irene was our guide and we couldn't have asked for a better one. She was knowledgeable not just on the local food, but also on the city and history as well. We did make the mistake of having a light snack before. It would be better on an empty stomach as the food is delicious and plentiful. We would go back on this tour without a second though.

One reviewer appreciated how the guide substituted options for vegetarians and vegans, although the tour itself is not marketed as suitable for vegans or vegetarians. It’s primarily focused on traditional pintxos, meat, seafood, and local wines.

The Value of the Experience

At $117 per person, this tour offers a significant amount of food and drink over three hours, often described as excellent value considering the quality and quantity of tastings. Several reviews describe the experience as “worth every penny,” especially given the insights into local culture and the opportunity to sample a wide variety of regional flavors.

The small-group format also means you’re not just another face in a crowd. Instead, you get time to chat with your guide and fellow travelers, making the experience more engaging and personal. For those who love food, wine, and a bit of cultural storytelling, this tour hits the sweet spot.
