While we haven’t done the tour ourselves, we’ve looked at tons of reviews, itineraries, and details to give you a balanced perspective.
Our tour guide was hilarious and so entertaining! He even sang a traditional Scottish song to us! Really good chance it will rain very hard at some point, during our hike around the fairy pools it rained terribly hard. We were soaked! Bring a dry sweatshirt and leave it on the bus. You will be happy you did if you get soaked through!
Tim was a great guide. The weather can be tricky so dress warm for it. Fantastic day out.
The tour was a great choice! Our guide Tim was an excellent storyteller and took great care of us. The atmosphere was amazing. It was a great opportunity to explore some of the Isle of Skye's most beautiful places. I recommend this trip very much! 🙂

This tour packs a lot into 12 hours, but it’s designed to be manageable and enjoyable. Starting from a central pickup point in Inverness, you’ll be whisked away in a luxury mini-coach—something many reviews highlight as comfortable, especially for such a long day. The group size tends to be small enough to feel personal but lively enough to keep the energy up.
Andrew was a great tour guide. The whole journey seemed hectic but believe me , it is not. You will love this and with Andrew as tour guide, it will be of so much fun. The weather was amazing and so was the journey. Kudos to WOW SCOTLAND and Andrew, the tour guide for such an amazing experience.
Very interesting places accompanied by fascinating stories told by our Fabulous guide, Mr. Fabulous. He introduced us to many facts in Scottish history, of which we were quite ignorant. The pools were sensational, and the whole walk into the mountain. It was a pity we had no bathing suit. The stops with traditional art or food products were also good and welcome moments.
The fairy pools were truly spectacular! Definitely should take a swim in one of the pools, the whole trip was quite wonderful. Breathtaking views. Andrew was a fantastic tour guide. Lisa and her husband at the bakery were quite wonderful as well. Delicious food and fun artwork. I would highly recommend WOW tours to anyone. Definitely worth the money. You get a tour, stories, and many laughs. One can or can’t deny if they see Nessie on their trip. Bonus stars for seeing some hairy coos!
First Stop: Loch Ness
Your day kicks off with a drive along Loch Ness, with a quick stop for photos and a chance to see local wildlife. Expect around 10 minutes here, enough to snap a few shots of the famous loch and perhaps catch a glimpse of Nessie if you’re lucky. Reviewers love the scenic drive and the chance to stretch their legs after the first hour on the road.
Eilean Donan Castle
Next, you’ll visit Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most photographed castles in the world. The stop is brief—around 10 minutes—but it’s enough to walk around and take stunning pictures of this fairy-tale fortress perched on a small island. The view of the castle against the backdrop of mountains and water is striking.
As one reviewer put it, “We very much enjoyed our trip to the Isle of Skye and we actually stayed on in Inverness especially for this trip that included the Fairy Pools… It didn’t disappoint!”
More Great Tours NearbyPortree: The Heart of Skye
From there, you’ll head to Portree, the charming capital of Skye. Here, you’ll have about 40 minutes for a quick look around. Most travelers use this time for a light lunch, browsing local shops, or simply soaking in the pastel-colored houses lining the harbor. Some reviewers mention enjoying a pre-ordered lunch from a local bakery, which is a clever way to save time and enjoy quality food.
We really enjoyed the history lessons our guide told as we drove along. Andrew made the landscape come alive with stories about the people who lived and fought here. We really appreciated the option to order a bag lunch from the aisle of Skye Baking Company. It was a treat to meet Lisa in person and have a quick moment to look at her artwork and shop. We bought souvenirs of our visit there-a scarf and antique spoon. We went on a coach tour to Loch Ness last year and there is no comparison.
Andrew was a great guide and a fabulous storyteller!
Tim was fantastic. The day was great but I would have appreciated more time in Partree. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the areas visited. Would highly recommend.
The Old Man of Storr & Kilt Rock
After lunch, your journey continues to the Old Man of Storr, a 50-meter-high rock formation that looks like a giant’s thumb. It’s a world-famous sight for its dramatic silhouette and is recognizable from numerous movies. You get about 10 minutes here, enough to snap photos and take in the views.
Next, you’ll make a scenic stop at Kilt Rock, a striking cliff that resembles a traditional Scottish kilt, with impressive waterfalls plunging into the sea. Expect around 20 minutes here—plenty of time to admire the scenery and take pictures.
The Fairy Pools
Arguably the highlight for many visitors, the Fairy Pools are a series of crystal-clear waterfalls and pools set beneath the Cuillin Mountains. You’ll spend about 1.5 hours here, which includes a walk of around 40 minutes to reach and return from the pools.
Travelers love the opportunity to photograph these enchanting spots, and many mention the backdrop of the mountains makes it even more special. One reviewer described the pools as “mesmerizing,” and that the long drive to get there is worth the effort.
Amazing guide, Murdoch. Told rich stories and gave an amazing all day tour. Beautiful scenery and adventure
We had the best time! I was a little afraid 12 hours on a bus might be too much but it was amazing. Murdoch was an amazing guide and storyteller. He was engaging and entertaining for the entire trip. We saw so many amazing sights and he was so knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and all the areas we visited. He had historical and current stories about every area and the drives in between. He was obviously intimately familiar with all the areas and has hiked all these hills many times himself. Lunch was prepared by Lisa at the Skye Baking company and it was amazing. Best scones I've had so far on this trip! I hope to make another trip there for more of those amazing scones and her sho…
Very good trip. Saw a lot of beautiful sights and the weather was fantastic. Our guide Andrew was very funny and had some good stories. He drove nice and calm which with motion sickness was a huge help! Would recommend!
Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle
On your way back to Inverness, you’ll stop at Urquhart Castle, perched on a peninsula overlooking Loch Ness. There’s a quick 10-minute photo stop here, but it’s enough to appreciate the ruins and the views over the loch. Some reviews mention how beautiful the scenery is, even if the castle itself is more ruins than fortress.
End of the Day
You’ll return to the starting point in Inverness, with plenty of memories and photos to last a lifetime. The entire trip is designed for maximum impact without rushing, though the long day can be tiring, especially if weather isn’t ideal.
What Makes This Tour Stand Out

One of the features reviewers consistently praise is the quality of storytelling from guides like Andrew and Murdoch. Their enthusiasm and knowledge transform what could be just a sightseeing trip into a narrative journey through Scotland’s legends and history. Several reviewers mention that the stories kept them engaged even during long stretches on the bus.
The itinerary’s careful pacing is another plus. Stops are well-timed, allowing plenty of time to explore without feeling rushed, yet not so long that the day drags. The pre-arranged lunch, often recommended as delicious, is a thoughtful touch that saves you from waiting in line or searching for food in a remote area.
The guide, Murdoch, was great! Wonderful story teller… very knowledgeable,
Andrew was an amazing tour guide, knowledgeable, and humourous. he made the trip so much more entertaining with his stories. The sights were incredible, the group was friendly, and the overall experience excellent in all regards. Thanks Andrew!
This was by far and away the best tour trip that I have taken. If I could quadruple the stars it would not be enough stars to express the full magnitude of how fantastic this trip was! Our guide Murdoch was the highlight of the trip with his stories and tales woven in amongst the history and the beautiful sights we saw and the experiences we had along the way. The lunch from Lisa and the Isle of Skye Baking Co. was absolutely delicious and another highlight of our Isle of Skye experience. WOW has my vote for the best tour service in Scotland. Thank you for a wonderful trip and the highlight of our vacation.
The transportation is a significant point of comfort. A luxury mini-coach with comfortable seating and a small group size makes the long journey more pleasant. Reviewers note the vehicle’s cleanliness and the smooth drive across Highland roads, which can be twisty and bumpy.
The Price: Is It Worth It?

Compared to other tours, which might focus on fewer spots or charge extra for transport or guides, this package packs in a lot—making it attractive for travelers wanting a comprehensive day out.
Most reviewers agree that it’s worth the cost, especially because it saves you the hassle of driving and planning. The inclusion of local insights, the scenic stops, and the chance to see so many highlights make it a good deal, especially if you enjoy storytelling and a relaxed pace.
