If you’re dreaming of experiencing Norway’s rugged, breathtaking landscapes, this small-group tour from Tromsø to Kvaløya and Sommarøy might be just what you need. While we haven’t participated ourselves, we’ve gathered plenty of insights from travelers who have, and it seems like a solid way to see some of the best natural sights in Arctic Norway without the hassle of planning every detail.
What really catches our eye are two standout features of this tour. First, the expert guidance and photography assistance — having a professional guide and photographer means you’re likely to leave with not only great memories but also fantastic photos. Second, the balance of scenic stops with invigorating walks and regional food offers a well-rounded experience that feels authentic and immersive.
That said, one thing to keep in mind is the limited accessibility — not suitable for wheelchair users, and you’ll want to be comfortable walking in potentially cold weather. This tour seems ideal for nature lovers who appreciate good scenery, local culture, and a manageable pace.
It was great! Our guide is Alex and was so informative. Kind and considerate to our group. And although we were behind time, he still chose to take a road for us to see the most scenic coastal road I and my husband have ever seen. I highly recommend adding this to your tours.
Very informative and very insightful. We saw many sites and took in great arctic sceneries. Our tour guide Alex was very well versed and told us a lot of information about sommaroy and Tromsø. 10/10 recommend.

Gaia was a fantastic guide, friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were able to see as much as possible ( even in the stormiest of conditions). Sommaroy was beautiful and the journey towards it was incredible. We saw and otter and sea eagle amongst beautiful landscapes. Lunch was lovely in a beautiful location – can’t rate. Gaia highly enough for making it such a comfortable and well guided trip, she was amazing.
Amazing! The landscapes were fabulous and our guide Vera was extraordinary: passionnante, interesting, nice and smart… she told us a lot about Norway, the Sami people, nordic culture, history, myths &legends, nature, languages… One of the best trip I ever had!

Hello Alex, Greetings from India. You have been a safe driver, you have kept the journey interesting throughout. places you drove us to were mesmerizing. thank you for the guided tour.
Had a wonderful experience outside of Tromsø town. Vera — was our guide and driver. She was excellent, full of information, and knew the best places to stop for stunning scenic photo spots in Kvaløya and Sommarøy. In Norway, always expect the unexpected. There was a roadblock caused by an accident just before we reached Sommarøy; and that was the only road leading to the island. The alternative route would take around 2 hours, which was impossible because we were racing against the darkness of the polar night. Vera suggested a detour to another beautiful island called Grotfjord, and everyone agreed. But luck was on our side — just before we decided to leave, the road was cleared and …
The tour was great with Alex. He was very patient in explaining all of the questions we had about Norway and the fjords we visited. It was well organised and a great day!
Overall Impression
This tour strikes a nice balance between adventure and comfort. It’s suited to those who love nature, want a chance to photograph really beautiful landscapes, and appreciate local culture. The small-group setting, guides, and focus on authentic scenery make it stand out from larger, more generic excursions.
However, it’s important to remember that the Arctic weather can be unpredictable, so dressing warmly and comfortably is essential. If you’re prone to motion sickness, the two-hour bus ride should be manageable, but it’s worth noting if you prefer a more relaxed pace.
