What we really like about this tour is its balance of activity and sightseeing—a moderate hike that keeps you moving without being overwhelming, plus plenty of stops for photos and stories. We had an amazing time hiking through Griffith Park! Our guide, Paul, was fantastic and shared fascinating historical insights about the area that we never would have known on our own. If you’re looking for a memorable LA experience, we highly recommend booking this tour
It was a great hike. Your shoes should have good treads on the bottom, can be slippery! Gregory knew a lot of fun facts and had a good history of California
I had such a great time hiking Griffith Park with Paul Norris! The route took us through Los Feliz and up to the Griffith Observatory, with fantastic views of the Hollywood Sign along the way. Paul was incredibly knowledgeable about the area’s history and landmarks, and made the experience fun and informative. He also helped me find parking, suggested other nearby attractions, and gave a great lunch recommendation. Highly recommend booking this tour—Paul’s a fantastic guide and made the day truly memorable
On the flip side, the hike can be steep, so it’s best suited for folks with a decent level of fitness who don’t mind a bit of a workout.
This tour is ideal for anyone who loves outdoor adventures combined with city panoramas—it caters to people who want to see the Hollywood sign up close, learn some LA tidbits, and enjoy gorgeous views.

Starting Point and Meeting
The tour kicks off at 2650 N Vermont Ave in Los Angeles. This spot is quite accessible via public transportation and is the launching pad for your LA adventure. From there, your guide will lead you into Griffith Park, which, as one of LA’s largest urban parks, offers a green escape from city streets.
Experience and knowledge of the guide and the time spent with us. Learned history, stories, and facts.
I enjoyed this 2.5 hour hike through Griffith Park and the neighborhood of Los Feliz with our guide Paul. He was a great guide and offered lots of interesting facts and stories about the park and surrounding areas. There are just a few things that hikers should be aware of. This is a strenuous hike, especially in very warm sunny weather. Wear a hat and bring snacks and water. Also, the title of Hollywood Sign in this tour is a little misleading. You don't go anywhere near the sign, and unless you have a camera with a super long-distance lens, you can't get a good photo. But it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
Paul was amazing! So knowledgeable and made it fun. Learning about all the history of the city and the views were amazing. Book this tour!
Griffith Park and Neighborhoods
Your first stop is the sprawling Griffith Park itself. As one of LA’s largest parks, it’s a perfect setting to start your hike. The reviews highlight that guides do a great job of sharing knowledge about the area’s natural and urban landscape, making even a familiar park feel fresh and interesting.
Next, you’ll pass by the Greek Theatre, an iconic outdoor venue with a storied history. You’ll only spend about 10 minutes here, but it’s enough to snap some photos of this historic music spot and take in the surroundings.
From there, the tour heads into the Los Feliz neighborhood, an area packed with multi-million dollar homes, celebrity sightings, and hidden staircases. During a 30-minute stop, you’ll see some of LA’s most interesting architecture, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House—an architectural gem that’s been featured in movies and TV shows.
Though the house itself isn’t included in the tour, the outside view combined with insider commentary makes it a worthwhile peek.
We loved our hike in Griffith Park. It was a gorgeous day weather wise, and this was complemented by a great experience. The views were stunning. We particularly liked the walk through the suburb adjacent to the park. Our tour guide, Paul, was extremely knowledge and gave us lots of interesting information. We highly recommend this tour. 10/10.
My friend and I were the only ones in that hiking tour that Saturday so we were in for a solo treat! Matt was a really really good tour guide and we learned a lot about the history of the Griffith Park, Griffith J. Griffith and the Los Feliz Village. I honestly just came here to visit the Griffith Observatory but I never knew there was a bright (and dark) history behind it! Hike was not so bad! Just a lot of incline. You were so great to us Matt!!! Thank you for sharing your stories and time with us. We really had fun!
Our tour guide was outstanding. Paul was knowledgeable and informative. The terrain was rugged and beautiful. This is a tour we will never forget.
The Hike to the Hollywood Sign
The core of the experience is the hike up to the Hollywood sign. The trail is steep but moves at a leisurely pace, with plenty of stops to catch your breath and take photos. Expect a climb that lasts about an hour, covering roughly 20 flights of stairs, so some degree of physical fitness is recommended.
Many reviews emphasize the remarkable views you’ll get along the way—panoramic vistas of Los Angeles, the sprawling cityscape, and the iconic sign itself. Tour guides are often praised for their storytelling, providing fun facts and history that turn a simple walk into a mini city tour.
Reaching Griffith Observatory
Once at Griffith Observatory, you’re rewarded with a stunning viewpoint of LA. The observatory is a landmark that offers a blend of science, architecture, and sweeping vistas. It’s a prime spot for photos, and while the tour doesn’t include inside access, just gazing at the city from above is memorable.
End of Tour & Additional Notes
The tour concludes back at the starting point, making it easy to plan your next steps—whether that’s exploring more of LA or heading elsewhere. It’s worth noting that transportation to and from the meeting point isn’t included, so you’ll want to plan your arrival accordingly.
Great tour guide who was very knowledgeable on the area and very friendly. Walk was about 2 hours 30 minutes and took in some amazing views over LA whilst we walked up to iconic Griffith Observatory. View the Hollywood sign at the top. We also wandered into a local housing area to view the amazing houses and to hear stories about the residents and history of some of the houses. I would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful morning hike with Matt. He had a great breath of knowledge about LA's history. We learned a lot and had fun!
Amazing tour! Paul was super knowledgeable and well-spoken. He’s also just a very nice person, and it was an absolute pleasure to have him as the tour guide. Wait until you see the views and houses on this tour! And to cap it all off, we saw a deer scurry off the path and down the mountainside as we headed back down. Just a great experience.
What the Reviews Say

Guides are the stars of this experience. Many reviewers mention how knowledgeable and friendly guides make all the difference—one points out that Philip was incredibly fun and well-informed. Others say guides like Paul and Lisa provided a wealth of LA history and interesting tidbits, elevating the hike beyond just a walk in the park.
Viewpoints and scenery also win high praise. Multiple reviewers mention how stunning the views are, especially on clear days, and they love how the tour offers a chance to see LA from a different perspective. The houses in Los Feliz and the chance encounters with local wildlife—like seeing a deer—add an extra layer of charm.
Some reviews do mention the hike’s difficulty—it’s not for those who prefer flat terrain or have mobility issues. The requirement to climb stairs and walk on uneven paths means a moderate level of fitness is a good idea. The tour’s pace and frequent stops seem to mitigate the physical challenge, but it’s still worth being prepared.
