Early morning start but so worth it — to see the pyramids high above the air. Magical experience! hot air balloon is definitely a bucket list item but to do so over the pyramids is amazing.

Wow wow wow! What an incredible experience. The balloon flight over the pyramids was spectacular – a bucket list moment. Everything throughout the day was incredibly well organized and this was really a perfect day trip to explore the culture and history!

The balloon ride was an amazing experience! It is worth being picked up at 4:30am. When we arrived, we were greeted by our coordinator for the day, who was always with our group through all the stages of the tour. They then take you to a local "artisan" marketplace, where we learned about the many uses of agave and about Mezcal. Then, of course, there is a shop there where they try to sell you things. The breakfast in the cave was very touristy, but still kind of cool to eat in a large natural cave like that! The ground tour of the pyramids was our least favorite part. Our local guide did not speak English very well so it was very hard to understand what she was telling us. Also, our time t…

However, it’s worth noting that the chance of actually flying directly over the ruins depends on the wind, which some travelers may find a bit unpredictable.

This tour generally suits those who love a combination of adventure, culture, and history—think early risers eager to catch a sunrise, or anyone wanting a more immersive experience than just sightseeing from the ground. If you’re okay with the early start and are interested in seeing Teotihuacan from a completely different perspective, this might be just the trip for you.

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary taking this tour. What a wonderful, well organized experience. The balloon ride will provide memories for life! We're very glad we opted for the Teotihuacan guided tour. It was great to learn about the history and significance of the area. Breakfast in the cave and the obsidian/mezcal stops were very touristy.

We had an amazing hot air balloon experience! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish—the pickup, the smooth check-in process, and the entire flight itself. The staff was professional, friendly, and made sure we felt comfortable and safe throughout. The balloon ride was incredibly stable, and we were lucky enough to fly directly over the pyramids, which was absolutely breathtaking. The views were unforgettable, and the whole experience felt magical from beginning to end. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our morning. Pleasantly surprised how nice the 8 hr tour is. We had lucky wind therefore got to fly directly over the Pyramids. Depends on a little luck if get the views.

I had never been in an air balloon before this, but this experience exceeded every possible expectation. We got SO close to the archeological site and were able to get amazing photos and videos. The takeoff and landing was nice and smooth. Our driver and all the staff were absolutely wonderful too.

Great experience. Communication was great and pickup was made easy from our hotel in Mexico city. The hot air balloon ride was really a once in a lifetime experience, the buffet was good and the guided tour of teothuacan was really interesting.

Breakfast and Cultural Stops

After the balloon ride, guests are treated to a buffet breakfast near the archaeological zone, which is well-received for its regional flavors and generous portions. If you’re a foodie, you’ll appreciate the opportunity to sample typical Mexican dishes in a casual setting.

Following breakfast, the tour continues with a visit to Mictlan Artesanias, where artisans showcase local crafts such as obsidian carvings, maguey products, and regional drinks. This part of the experience allows you to connect with the local culture and pick up unique souvenirs.

Guided Tour of Teotihuacan

The highlight for many is the guided tour of the pyramids, led by local experts. Excellent! From beginning to end, the experience was wonderful. Great guides and everything was very thoughtful and informative.

Skilled balloon pilots provide an awesome once in a lifetime ride. They assigned us a guide that took us through each stop. Breakfast is a decent (not exceptional) buffet at a local eatery. Touring the pyramids after flying over them was incredible.

Firstly Alejando our driver went out of his way to pick us up early because we were staying far away from the balloon launch site. Only balloon company that would accommodate us. When we arrived the instructions were clear and everyone spoke English very well which was very helpful. The balloon ride was incredible – quiet peaceful almost dream like experience with breath taking views on a beautiful morning. To top it off we were able to purchase videos shot by a drone that perfectly captured the moment and will allow us to share the the experience with family and friends. 10 stars out of 5. Must do activity in Mexico City.

Returning to Mexico City

The tour wraps up with a return trip, which typically lasts around an hour, and drop-offs are coordinated to match your original pick-up point unless you specify otherwise.

The balloon ride alone was incredible. However, it was an even more amazing experience when you add the tour of the archeological site along with it. We were fortunate to have our balloon ride over the ruins which were breathtaking. Quite a spectacular experience. One of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City.
Kyle D
Very well managed logistically. Everything was on time from the pickup to the lunch and various stops between destinations and back. Guides were all very friendly and informative. Balloon ride was great – unfortunately due to wind conditions we did not get to fly directly over the ruins, however the flight was very nice and felt super safe with our pilot. The tour of Teotihuacán was amazing – we were some of the first visitors to be able to climb the steps of the Temple of the Moon! Highly recommend this tour – everything was taken care of from start to finish.

Amazing location for hot air balloon rides! Being up in the air with 100+ other balloons makes for a more magical experience. We liked that this operator let you arrange your own travel to/from the location and didn't make you include the other unnecessary items like group transportation, a tour of the pyramids, buffet breakfast/lunch, etc. We wanted to just go for the balloon ride. Very communicative, very safe. Ideally, go up as early as you can, closest to sunrise. All in all, about a 60 minute drive there and 75 minute drive back via ubers. After we arrived at the scheduled time, there was coffee while we waited for the rest of the group to show up and for the balloon to fill. Tot…
