If you’re pondering a hot air balloon ride in Phoenix, we’ve got the scoop. While we haven’t personally flown with this company, reviews and details paint a picture of a memorable desert experience that’s great for those looking to see the Sonora Desert from a new perspective. It’s a well-rated adventure that promises stunning sunset views, guides, and a touch of celebration afterward.
What we love about this experience? First, the views of the Sonoran Desert at sunset are undeniably spectacular—flying up to 5,000 feet gives a real sense of the landscape and wildlife. Starting Point and Pre-Flight Check-In
Your adventure kicks off at the Deer Valley Airport, where check-in is straightforward—especially if you’ve booked the mobile ticket in advance.
If you opt for the hotel transfer, your pickup from Phoenix hotels is arranged, which is a real bonus when you’re traveling with luggage or just prefer to relax before the flight. Without it, you’ll need to get to the airport yourself, which is still quite manageable.
Epic experience, a must do I simply can't describe it , our flight crew Matt and Michael were simply the very best. Great sense of humour which was an added bonus to the experience. Very very highly recommend it.

What a beautiful experience this was! Decided to take a hot air balloon ride before we came for a long weekend in Phoenix and this company came highly recommended. Everything was clear about what to expect before we went up. The views were amazing and the pilot shared what he was doing and what were the optimal picture taking opportunities. The landing was easy and the post flight hors d’oerves and champagne was a nice touch. Thanks to Casey, our pilot and Zach, our crew chief were the best!
The Launch and Overflight
The flight itself begins with the inflating of the balloon, a process that many reviews describe as smooth and well-orchestrated. The pilot tests the winds before lift-off, which is reassuring since weather can influence flight safety and enjoyment. This is a key point: wind conditions are crucial, and cancellations do happen if it’s too windy, as a reviewer noted with disappointment.
Once airborne, you’ll soar over iconic landmarks like Camelback Mountain, which is highly recognizable and loved by locals. We loved the way the landscape unfolds from the sky, revealing patches of desert flora and maybe even some wildlife below. The height of up to 5,000 feet gives you a panoramic view—space for impressive photos and a real sense of floating above the desert.
The Scenic Highlights
As your balloon drifts, you’ll see the city of Phoenix in the distance, with downtown lights flickering as the sun dips lower. Watching the sunset from this vantage point is a major draw, offering that golden hour glow that makes everything look magical. From reviews, many describe the views as “amazing,” “unreal,” and “picture perfect.”
The Landing and Desert Picnic
Landing can sometimes involve a bit of squatting or holding onto the basket, especially if the wind is strong, but most reviews describe it as smooth and safe. The landing site is a unique feature—right in the heart of the desert—where a table with linens and china awaits.
Bucket List. Check. Very enjoyable. Great weather. Greet views. Staff was quick and Competent. Watching the sunset from our tables On the desert floorand Toasting with Champagne or water. Picture perfect outing
The actual flight and balloon captain were fabulous. I wasn't even scared and he made the Experience amazing. Our captain was Mike Johnson and he was very experienced. I would give 5 stars except the van driver to the balloon location was awful. Wayne drove us from airport to the site and he got lost and was checking his phone while driving. He had to make calls and turn around 3 times at least. In the end it was a great experience overall.
The views were breathtaking! The whole team was great and pleasant. The experience was positive and enjoyable from pick-up to drop-off.
This isn’t your typical picnic; it’s a gourmet setup featuring food from Vincents on Camelback, which many reviewers say is delicious and elevates the experience.
The Post-Landing Celebration
After touching down, your adventure continues with a toast of Champagne or sparkling cider, depending on your preference. This tradition, shared by many ballooning companies worldwide, is a lovely way to mark the moment and reflect on the flight. Light hors d’oeuvres and a fruit and cheese plate are also part of the celebration, making for a relaxed, celebratory wind-down.
The Certificates and Memories
Every guest receives a commemorative flight certificate, a nice touch to remember your high-flying adventure. The overall experience, from the scenic flight to the celebratory toast, is often described as “worth every penny” and memorable.

At $268.92 per person, this tour sits in the mid-range for scenic experiences, but reviewers generally agree that the value is high given the quality of views, the professional guides, and the gourmet touches at the end.

Jen was great checking us in, explaining the process and driving us to our take off point. Matt, our pilot was knowledgeable and provided us a safe flight. He made our trip so enjoyable! The champagne meal at sunset with the Balloonist’s Prayer on the glasses and Matt’s education on hot air ballooning history was a great way to end our trip in great company!
