Great experience! Meeting point was in Zona Romantica, then a private driver took us to Mismaloya. We met our tour guide Gabe there, and hopped on a boat with a short ride to Los Arcos. After a tour around the islands with lots of information about the surrounding area, it’s time to snorkel! Seeing the bioluminescence was so cool – not as dramatic as I thought it would be, but still awesome and definitely once in a lifetime for me. Gabe did a great job making sure everyone felt safe, and he was lovely to talk to! 10/10 experience.

The vehicle to take us to the dock didn't make it to the meeting place so our group had to walk there. The van or bus was supposed to take us to a beach closer to Los Arcos. Getting on (and off) the panga at the central dock in Zona Romantica was very scary as 4 foot swells bobbed the boat up and down. Water was pretty rough for the long ride to Los Arcos but life jackets were not handed out. I insisted and was given one. Seeing Los Arcos up close was great; bioluminescense too if you hadn't seen it before. Our host and the boat operator did their best to keep us entertained and safe.

Lotos of fun snorlkeing , and seein the natural beauty of the area froma boat. Boat is msall, less tha 10 people, and bounces around in the waves. Not for those who are timid about the sea.

On the flip side, some might find the 3-hour duration a bit tight if they want a more leisurely experience or are traveling with particularly young children. But overall, it seems well-suited for travelers craving a mix of scenery, nature, and good company.

This experience is ideal for adventure seekers, nature lovers, and couples looking for a romantic evening. If your idea of fun involves breathtaking views and natural wonders, you’ll likely find this tour very rewarding. Just keep in mind that the experience depends somewhat on weather conditions, so flexible plans are a good idea.

Good people, very nice, very accommodating, most beautiful views. Don't be afraid to go into the water at night, they guide you, Alex and Poncho were fabulous. The beach restaurant (Las Gaviotas) was a rip off, they charged my wife $16 US dollars for a very small margarita and bottle of water. I do not like when locals take advantage of people, don't they want us to come back? or just make a few extra bucks right now? Anyway the tour was great

👍. It was magical, the best activity on my trip. Would recommend to others visiting Puerto Vallarta

This excursion was not as impactful as I thought it would be. The arched rocks are beautiful, and the little town you board the boat in is cute, but I wasn’t blown away by the bioluminescence (the only thing I cared about). The area where you can get in the water to view the bioluminescent plankton was shallow and felt very safe, but the plankton were not super luminous like I thought they would be. Don’t get me wrong, they are very cool little creatures, but they weren’t very bright the night we went. We spent a lot of time on the boat just cruising close to the resorts nearby waiting for it to get dark, which I didn’t care for. I did get seasick (not their fault obviously—I had a…

The Stops: Scenic and Insightful

The first stop is Playa Mismaloya—a spot famous for its connection to the film The Night of the Iguana. As you hear about its cinematic history, you also get a chance to soak in the views of this charming beach. We loved the way guides shared stories that added a layer of depth to the scenery, making the experience more engaging.

Next up is Los Arcos de Mismaloya, an iconic Marine Geological Sanctuary. Here, the dramatic rock formations rise from the sea, creating incredible silhouettes against the sunset sky. These natural arches and caves are fantastic for photographs and further exploration.

It’s worth noting that the free snorkeling gear allows you to get close to the underwater world, which many reviews highlight as a highlight of the trip. One reviewer even mentioned the “very cool underwater light show” that occurs after sunset.

Sunset and Bioluminescence: The Main Event

As the sun dips lower, the sky erupts into vibrant hues—reds, oranges, and pinks—creating a stunning backdrop for your cruise. The guides do a good job of explaining what’s happening and ensuring everyone gets a chance to enjoy the view. Once darkness falls, the real magic begins.

Alexis was our guide. He was great. I know he had to learn all our names for safety reasons but it adds a personal touch. Do not wear glasses, wear contact. That said, you will enjoy it even half blind as everything is pretty close to the fa e in the water. Also, I drove there instead of meeting at the meeting place and one of the employees was kind enough to walk me back to my car.

It was a very unique and rare experience. There are not many places in the world to see this. The staff was exceptional. Would recommend.

This boat tour to Los Arcos Sanctuary and the bioluminescence night swim was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely funny, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable and relaxed. They shared interesting facts about the area and made sure everyone felt safe and included the entire time. Los Arcos was stunning, and swimming at night surrounded by glowing bioluminescence was truly magical and unforgettable. Everything was well-organized, fun, and exceeded expectations. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique, memorable experience—you won’t regret it!

The waters around Los Arcos start to glow with bioluminescent plankton—a phenomenon that’s hard to describe until you see it firsthand.

Multiple travelers have described the bioluminescent waters as “enchanting” and “like stepping into a natural wonderland of light.” One reviewer noted that swimming in the dark to see the glowing waters was “such a romantic view,” making it great for couples. Guides encourage safe swimming, and those who dive in often love the experience.

Food, Drinks, and Overall Value

Included in the tour are bottled water, sodas, beer (age-restricted), and snacks, ensuring you stay refreshed throughout. The presence of drinks and music, along with a friendly crew, adds to the relaxed, festive vibe. Reviewers consistently mention how hospitable and knowledgeable the guides are, which enhances the overall experience significantly.

Considering the $69 price point, many feel it’s a good deal—especially given the scenic stops, the natural spectacle of bioluminescence, and the inclusions. It’s a full package that offers more than just a boat ride; it’s an engaging journey through scenery, culture, and nature.

Thank you Efraim and the captain of the boat. They were awesome! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the experience of it all. Just not recommended for anxious people as you will need to swim at night into the cave in the dark. I assure you it will be an unforgettable experience. Efraim was a very good tour guide that he made sure everyone was safe if the cave.

The bioluminescence is very cool, just not as bright as in the photos advertised. The crew is really nice and keeps everyone safe, can’t say enough good things about them. It is also nice that you get a few beers to sip on while on the boat.

I have been travelling across the world for last 30 years but have never seen such spectacular bioluminescence. A must do. Very well organized. Gabriel was our guide, and was awesome.

Enjoyed this excursion a lot! Booked this the night before with no issues, company communicated day of on where to meet, and easy shuttle to Mismaloya. Guide was friendly, informative and very knowledgeable. Saw a glimpse of whale and while the cloudiness didn’t make for a great sunset, it was perfect to see the bioluminescence. We were the only group (5 plus guide and driver) in cave snorkeling and was a unique, fun experience. Free beers were a nice touch and would definitely recommend this!!!
