We loved all the food we tried and appreciated the variety of tastes! A bit of history and walking was exactly what we wanted walking through downtown Savannah for the first time. Plenty of time to chat with friends and hang out, but enough structure to feel taken care of. Very fun experience, highly recommend instead of booking a reservation for lunch somewhere.
Good food and fun experience with Christina! Learned a lot about Savannah along the tour and got to see a lot of sights.
Christine was an AWESOME guide!! It was freezing cold out but we kept moving snd kept eating! Went to so many doors that we were aware of. We went back to 2 of tgrm for FULL MEAKS!! Great fun and yummy food!!
On the flip side, one thing to keep in mind is that it’s a walking tour that requires a moderate level of physical activity, so it may not be suitable for everyone, especially if you’re not up for a bit of a stroll.

The Itinerary Breakdown

Starting Point: Johnson Square
Your adventure kicks off at Johnson Square at noon, right in the heart of Savannah’s historic district. The tour is designed to be leisurely, allowing plenty of time to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed.
Stop 1: Savannah Historic District
With over 20 years of guiding experience, the team behind this tour has a knack for blending Savannah’s stories with its culinary treats. As you stroll through the city squares and historic streets, your guide shares tidbits from Savannah’s past, adding context to the flavors you’re sampling.
Great southern sampling of food and Savannah history. Christina was fun and funny and knows everybody even made an extra stop for a few of us that love chocolate.
Tour guide was distracted and the tour provided little information as to the origins of the foods. The history of the area seemed rushed and she was not dressed well. While she had compassion towards many of the people in the area (seems to be a lot of homelessness) to us she was rather condescending and sarcastic. The weather was cold and we can accept her need to be dressed in warm clothes but we do not think ripped thigh jeans were appropriate for the guide. We have taken three or four other food tours with Viatour in the last 6 months and this one was certainly the worst we have encountered. We take food tours to learn about the history and flavors, why and how the food is made. This tou…
We had an excellent walk through the historic area of Savannah and stopped at five different food vendors while we learned about the history of Savannah from our wonderful guide, Christina. Given that she is a native to Savannah and has a passion for history and a degree in history she was incredibly knowledgeable. What was fun about her was not only her sense of humor, but the number of people along the way she knew and connected with, including the homeless. The food was delicious and very filling. Each place served a different dish. The warm peach cobbler at the end with ice cream was a perfect ending to the day.
This spot sets the tone for the rest of the tour — a mix of history, architecture, and tastings that showcase what makes Savannah unique.
Stop 2: River Street
Next, you’ll move towards River Street, the lively strip along the Savannah River. Here, you’ll visit several restaurants that highlight the city's global food scene as well as its Southern roots. Expect to taste Lowcountry classics like shrimp and grits and Southern staples such as pimento cheese bites. The variety of flavors reflects Savannah’s diverse culinary influences and local pride.
