If you’re thinking about seeing Lanzarote with a bit of a custom touch, a private tour like this could be just what you need. We’ve come across a highly-rated experience that promises comfort, flexibility, and expert guidance — perfect for travelers who want to avoid the hustle of large groups and enjoy a more tailored day.
What immediately caught our eye? First, the fact that you’re not stuck in a big bus with strangers, but instead have your own minibus and guide, giving you a chance to shape your day. Second, the reviews speak for themselves—an impressive 5-star rating from 21 travelers, with 95% recommending it.
That said, one consideration to keep in mind is the extra costs involved. Entrance tickets aren’t included, so you’ll want to budget for those if you plan on exploring inside major attractions like Timanfaya or Jameos del Agua.
I apreciate the places that we saw. The tour guide was informative and friendly. However my biggest complaint and to be fair maybe I didn't read the fine print but this ended up costing quite a bit extra as no entry fee's in anything were incl
Angela gave us a fantastic tour of Lanzarote. She speaks excellent English, is a great driver, and knows everthing about the Island. Her van was very comfortable for the four of us and could easily accomodate 6. We saw the 3 main attraction on the island: the Cactus Garden, the Lava Tube and Timanfaya Volcano Park. She also drove us along the cliffs for views of the nearby smaller islands. We thouroughly enjoyed our time with Angela. I highly recommend this tour and Angela as a guide if you're ever on Lanzarote Island (one of the Canary Islands).
The tour was excellent. The guide was very informative and pleasant and speaks fluent english. Itinerary is flexible and it is possible to tailor it to to your preferences. I would highly recommend this tour. It was great day and great experience.
This tour is best suited for those who value comfort, customization, and insightful guides — especially if you’re traveling with a small group or family and want to maximize your time without feeling rushed.

Timanfaya National Park: The Volcano’s Legacy
The highlight of the tour for many travelers, Timanfaya, is a site that’s likely to leave a lasting impression. The eruptions that reshaped Lanzarote’s landscape over 300 years ago resulted in the moon-like scenery that visitors see today. The tour’s advantage? You get to skip the queues and explore at your own pace, thanks to your private vehicle.
Inside, you’ll feel the heat beneath your feet as they test the ground temperature — a fun, scientific tidbit that makes the visit more interactive. The route of the volcanoes allows for a sweeping view of the volcanic landscape, showcasing jagged craters and lava fields that look like they’ve come straight from another planet. One reviewer remarked, “The Timanfaya National Park was fabulous and breathtaking,” showing just how impactful this site is.
El Golfo: The Green Lagoon
Next, you’ll stop at El Golfo, a small fishing village famous for its striking green lagoon set against a backdrop of volcanic cliffs. It’s a quick stop, about 40 minutes, but enough to snap some photos of this unusual natural feature. The lagoon’s vivid color makes it a favorite for visitors, and you can admire it from various viewpoints along the coast.
Los Hervideros: Tidal Pools and Rugged Coastline
Continuing along the coast, Los Hervideros offers some of the most dramatic scenery in Lanzarote. The name means “the boiling waters,” and it’s easy to see why — the cliffs and tidal pools create a wild, rugged landscape where the Atlantic crashes with force. The panoramic views here are stunning, and the sound of the surf is almost deafening. This stop lasts about 45 minutes, giving plenty of time to take in the view and snap photos.
La Geria: The Canary Islands’ Wine District
On the way back to Arrecife, your guide might suggest a stop at La Geria, a well-known wine-growing region. Here, you’ll get a chance to walk through the vineyards, take pictures, and enjoy a tasting of local wines. It’s a peaceful, scenic spot that offers a taste of Lanzarote’s agricultural side. One reviewer loved the stop, commenting, “You can take pictures and taste the local wine,” highlighting its relaxed, enjoyable vibe.
We were looking for a shore excursion that hit two big attractions in Lanzarote: Timanfaya and Jameos del Agua, and were unable to find something that worked with our time in port. Booking a private excursion was a great option, especially when were able to find two other couples to share the cost. Our guide and driver were both locals and you could tell how much they loved sharing their island with us. Pickup and dropoff at the port were so easy and I appreciated the communication by email before the trip. When our cruise swapped port days at the last minute, the company was willing and able to adapt which was hugely appreciated. Overall, highly highly recommend!
TheTimanphaya National Park was fabulous and breathtaking. The tour guide, Angela was so to the point
We paid for a private tour but the morning we met the guide we learned the vehicle had blown a tire and we were now in a group tour. It wasn't a bad experience but as remedy for the situation they offered to cover our park entrance fee. Ulimately, we learned a lot, the driver was excellent and kind, the guide was very knowledgable and professional but I think the experience was overpriced. In the end, there were many more affordable tours listed that offered the same itinerary we experienced : 1. Timanfara Natl Park 2. El Golfo 3. Wine Tasting. A nice day but over priced.

Jameos del Agua: Art, Lava, and Unique Wildlife
The tour often concludes with a visit to Jameos del Agua, a masterpiece of Cesar Manrique, who transformed a lava tube into a cultural site. The saltwater lagoon inside is home to a unique species of blind crab — a fascinating sight for nature lovers. The site is visually striking, with art installations blending seamlessly into the volcanic landscape. Visitors usually spend about an hour here, soaking in the blend of natural and artistic beauty.
What We Love About This Experience

One of the biggest advantages is the personalized guiding. According to reviews, guides like Angela are knowledgeable, friendly, and fluent in English, making the experience informative and enjoyable. The fact that the vehicle is air-conditioned and comfortable means you can relax and focus on the views without worrying about the drive.
Another thing we appreciate is the flexibility — you can tailor the stops based on your interests or even change the route during the day if you’re feeling spontaneous. That kind of control makes the tour stand out from rigid group excursions.
While the price of around $830 for up to 10 people might seem steep at first glance, it’s quite reasonable when you consider private transportation, the guide’s expertise, and the convenience of a customized itinerary. Plus, since entrance fees aren’t included, you can decide whether to visit inside attractions like Jameos del Agua or Timanfaya, and budget accordingly.
Authentic Reviews Add Depth
Travelers rave about the guides' knowledge. Susan from her review said, “Angela gave us a fantastic tour of Lanzarote. She speaks excellent English, is a great driver, and knows everything about the island.” On the other hand, some minor hiccups, like extra costs for tickets, are openly acknowledged, which is helpful for setting expectations.
Transport and Duration

The tour uses a private, air-conditioned minibus that comfortably seats up to 10 people. The duration varies from about 1 to 5 hours, depending on how long you want to spend at each site and how flexible your schedule is. Many travelers mention that the timing allows for a relaxed, unhurried experience — no rushing to keep up with a big group.
Meetup times are generally from 8:00 AM onwards, and the tour operates daily, with the flexibility to suit your schedule within the opening hours. It's a good idea to book at least 54 days in advance since this experience tends to be popular.
What’s Not Included?
Be prepared for additional costs if you wish to enter attractions. The tour’s price doesn’t cover tickets or meals, so plan ahead. Many travelers comment that this is clearly stated, so it’s not a surprise, but it’s worth remembering.
Final Thoughts: Who Is This Tour Best For?

This private Lanzarote tour is ideal for travelers who value comfort, flexibility, and personalized insight. If you love exploring at your own pace and dislike large group tours, this is a compelling choice. Its stops are carefully selected to showcase Lanzarote’s volcanic beauty and unique landscapes, making it especially attractive for first-time visitors wanting an overview without feeling rushed.
It also suits small groups or families who want to enjoy a day together with a knowledgeable guide. The scenic stops, combined with the chance to taste local wines and immerse in art, create a well-rounded experience.
However, for travelers on a tight budget or those who prefer to explore independently, arranging individual tickets might be more economical. Also, keep in mind that entrance fees aren’t included, so you might want to set aside extra money if you plan on visiting inside attractions.
