Luca was an amazing tour guide. He explained so much of the way Venice is laid out, the properties of the canals, high and low tides and most of all, its apparent that he has an amazing command of his boat on these waters. A lesser captain would have caused us to get wet; however, Luca skillfully navigated every swell, wake, and shift with ease. Highly, highly recommended!

Very good experience. It was a bit cold when we went and he brought a blanket, so very prepared. It was evident he has been doing this a while and was a very good driver

Great ride around the outer area of Venice. Guide was friendly and explained a lot about the workings of the city. You saw some of the tourist areas along with the working docks and pointed out different points of interest.

What really catches our eye are the thoughtful stops for photos and the friendly guidance that come with the experience. Plus, the option to customize itineraries—like including Murano, Burano, or even a transfer—adds a layer of versatility you don’t always get with standard tours.

On the flip side, a potential concern is the location of the meeting point, which is a bit removed from the main tourist hubs, so you’ll want to plan your walk accordingly. Overall, if you’re after a calm, scenic, and intimate way to explore Venice’s waters, this tour could be a great fit.

The Itinerary in Detail

The tour’s route begins at Squero di San Trovaso, a historic boatyard known for traditional Venetian gondolas. Starting here gives you a subtle taste of Venice’s maritime craft heritage. From there, you’ll pass through Fondamenta de le Convertite, a quieter canal area, and then visit the Associazione Canottieri Giudecca, a hub for local rowing clubs—providing a glimpse into Venetian water sports culture.

Next, you’ll cruise past C8CQ+QH Venice, which is a more general waterway point, before heading toward S. Marco-San Zaccaria “B”, close to St. Mark’s Square but from a different perspective. The final stops include Fondamenta Zattere Al Ponte Lungo, a scenic promenade along the Zattere waterfront, famous for views of the Giudecca and the sunset, making it an ideal spot to unwind and take photos.

The tour was okay at best. Our skipper was 10 minutes late. Instead of extending our tour by 10 minutes he gave us a 50 minute tour with no heads up or apology. After the tour I received a WhatsApp message from him stating "review" with a prayer emoji. That left an extra bad taste in my mouth after the shortened tour. We also were never offered any prosecco, even for purchase. Overall I wouldn't do this tour again.

Luca is awesome! This boat tour is a must do! Luca took us out into the lagoon and then down the grand canal. It was relaxing yet awe inspiring as you watch the setting sun bathe this beautiful city in glowing pinks, reds and golden yellows. After 3 days on foot touring this gorgeous city it was important for us to see it from the water and we saw things from the boat we would not have seen otherwise. Thank you Luca for an absolutely wonderful and memorable ride! Sei fantastico! Grazie molto!

A great time to explore venice canals and the lagoon. My husband and I had a great time during this excursion.

Each stop offers a different angle on Venice, from historic spots to vibrant local areas, all from the comfort of your private boat. Plus, the guide is described as friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, making the experience not just scenic but also informative.

What Travelers Say

One reviewer, Brooke, appreciated how the guide Luca made the trip special, stopping for picture opportunities and sharing interesting details about Venice. She called Luca's guidance "amazing," and noted that the views were "gorgeous." Another guest, Thomas, also praised Luca's friendliness and expertise, saying the tour was "very enjoyable" and highly recommended.

However, not every review is glowing. Some travelers found the meeting point a bit inconvenient—"in a deserted location 20 minutes walk from St. Mark's"—and others felt that parts of the cruise took them through "seedy areas and dirty canals" far from the main sights. That said, the majority seem to appreciate the relaxed pace, scenic stops, and the chance to experience Venice from the water in a more intimate setting.

The Value and Pricing

At $82.94 per person, this tour offers a reasonable price for a private experience. You’re paying for the exclusivity, personalized guidance, and the opportunity to see Venice from an angle most travelers miss—perfect for those wanting to avoid crowded gondolas or crowded tours. Many reviews mention that it's "highly recommended" for its relaxed vibe and stunning views, making it a solid choice if you value quality over quantity.

Who Is This Tour Best For?

This is ideal for couples seeking romance, as it creates a quiet, personal moment with Venice as the backdrop. It's also suitable for travelers who appreciate calm, scenic cruises and want a flexible experience—since extra itineraries or transfers can be arranged on request. The Meeting Point and Practicalities

The starting point, Fondamenta Bonlini, is close to public transportation but might require about a 10–15-minute walk from central Venice. Confirming the exact location and planning your route in advance can help avoid unnecessary stress. The tour's duration is short but sweet, making it a perfect addition to a day of exploring Venice, especially if you're craving a serene water-based break.

The experience is bookable with free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance, giving you some peace of mind if your plans change. Weather-dependent, of course, so keep an eye on the forecast, but if canceled due to bad weather, you'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
