Daria was wonderful. She clearly enjoys people and sharing knowledge. Having grown up and lived in Venice her entire life really adds to the story telling. Thank yiu for a fantastic time!

That said, one thing to keep in mind is that the boat ride doesn’t include access to the basilica or top of the tower, which disappointed some visitors, especially those eager for panoramic views.

This kind of tour works best for those who want a balanced overview of Venice’s key sights without the long lines or heavy crowds. It’s perfect if you’re short on time but still want a meaningful glimpse of the city’s grandeur. However, if you’re after a more in-depth exploration or a more relaxed, less structured experience, you might want to consider some alternatives.

We absolutely loved the boat tour around Venice. We were originally contemplating if we wanted to do a gondola ride instead, but are so happy we chose the Boat tour. We were with 2 others so there was plenty of room to move around the boat to take pictures and have shelter from the sun/rain when needed. I would highly recommend this for anyone considering it!

Our tour guide Alessia was amazing. Very knowledgeable and shared a ton of information and history. The boat ride through the small canals and grand canal was great. The lift was broken so we couldn't go to the top of the tower but she more than made up for that with extra time in the boat. Highly recommend for a good scenic tour of Venice!!!!

Fabulous trip, Alessia, was a brilliant and knowledgeable guide. We really enjoyed the trip to Giudecca island to visit the Basilica, shame that we could not go up the bell tower though. What really blew us away was the trip through the canals on the boat for almost 1 and a half hours. Was absolutely brilliant and was able to see everything from the river viewpoint. Cannot recommend this trip enough. Truly fabulous.

Key Sights from the Water

Passing by the Rialto Bridge, you’ll experience the lively atmosphere of the Rialto fish market, a favorite for many reviewers. The water view offers a fresh perspective on Venice’s architecture—suddenly, the city seems larger, more open, and full of character.

One review mentions how the boat ride provided a “different perspective” on Venice, especially when passing by the various palaces and bridges. On the water, you can admire the intricate details of buildings that are often missed when wandering on foot.

Approaching Doge’s Palace

After the canal cruise, the boat makes a short walk to Doge’s Palace and Piazza San Marco. While the tour doesn’t include an entry ticket, the proximity allows you to explore further on your own afterward. One review describes the overall experience as “a great way to learn about Venice,” especially if you’re starting your trip here—an excellent primer for sightseeing.

Considerations & Downsides

Despite the overall positive feedback, a couple of reviews point out some disappointments. For example, if you’re hoping to go up to the top of the basilica’s tower, you’ll be out of luck—bad weather or lift issues can affect this part of the experience. One traveler mentions that the lift was broken, so they couldn’t ascend, which was a letdown considering how highly they praised the views from above.

Another review highlights a less favorable experience where the guide seemed dismissive or unfriendly. It’s important to remember that, with any guided tour, the quality often hinges on the guide’s attitude and knowledge.

The Price Point & What You’re Getting

At around $97.53 per person, this tour isn’t the cheapest option, but many feel it’s worth the expense. The small-group aspect, combined with an expert guide and scenic ride, justifies the cost for those who value quality over quantity.

Plus, the included headsets ensure you won’t miss out on the commentary, and the short duration makes this a manageable addition even for travelers with tight schedules. It’s a great way to get a quick yet meaningful overview of Venice’s highlights.

What Do Travelers Say?

From glowing reviews praising Alessia’s storytelling to others appreciating the scenic views and small-group intimacy, the feedback is largely positive. Some highlight the knowledgeable guides, which seem to make the experience stand out. Others mention that the ride is a “great perspective” on Venice, especially for first-timers wanting a broad overview.

However, some critics feel that the boat ride doesn’t allow for good photos or that it’s not as immersive as a gondola ride. If snapping pictures or a slow, romantic cruise is your priority, this might not be the ideal choice. Still, for a quick, scenic, guided tour, it hits the mark.
