If you’re considering a day out on the water in Naxos, this Daily Cruise to Koufonissia & Rina Cave could be just what you need. It promises a blend of scenic views, swimming opportunities, delicious food, and a taste of island life—all wrapped up in roughly 9.5 hours.

While I haven’t personally been on this exact tour, I’ve sifted through plenty of reviews and details to help you decide if it’s the right fit for your Greek adventure.

What really catches our eye about this experience is the authenticity of the boat—a traditional wooden vessel that adds a certain charm—and the ample time guests get at each stop, rather than feeling rushed. The onboard Greek BBQ lunch and relaxed atmosphere are also big selling points.

We loved this boat trip. The stops were wonderful and we had such a great time meeting others on the boat. The swimming spots were great choices and we LOVED Koufonisia, such a cute town to visit and see. The lunch was great and I think the value for this trip was incredible, I would recommend to anyone going.
Ian M
We had a great time and highly recommend this excursion. The day was perfectly planned. We enjoyed the swimming opportunities, the bbq lunch and the free time on Ano Koufonissia. The crew was wonderful and really added to the fun. Also, the beach at Koufonissia was the best we have seen anywhere!

On the flip side, some reviews mention that the day can get a little crowded and long, especially if you’re not used to spending many hours on a boat.

So, if you’re someone who loves exploring at your own pace or is sensitive to long days at sea, you might want to weigh that.

This tour works best for travelers looking to see multiple island spots in one day without breaking the bank. If you’re after a laid-back, scenic experience with good food and friendly guides, it’s worth considering. It’s not ideal if you’re seeking a very exclusive or personalized cruise, but for the majority, it hits the right notes.

The Setting and Departure

The tour kicks off in the charming port of Agia Anna at around 9:45 am. From there, you’ll board a traditional wooden boat, which immediately sets a relaxed, authentic tone. The boat itself seems to be a crowd-pleaser—reviewers love its appearance and the atmosphere it creates.

John M
The boat tour was well organized and enjoyable, With the length of the tour (9 hours) it was a benefit to get off the boat for a few hours to tour the island. Lunch was excellent. Swimming spots were great.
Justin L
Full day excursion. Well organized. Our host, Paulina, was exceptional. Locations visited were beautiful. A large part of the day is spent sitting on the boat waiting to get to the next destination. If they could find a way to shorten the day by a couple hours it would be a much better experience. The greatest complaint would be the overcrowding of the boat. The excursion is WAY over sold and the ship quite crowded. For the price, a smaller group would have been preferred. All in all, a fun yet very average experience. If you have several days in Naxos worth a try. If limited on time, maybe spend time elsewhere.

Perfect day trip! The locations visited were beautiful (I especially appreciated the ample time to explore Koufonissia independently), food was great, but the crew really made the day special. I was traveling solo and felt so well taken care of by the whole team.

The journey towards Kato Koufonissi takes around two hours, giving you a chance to enjoy the scenery, soak in the sun, or chat with fellow travelers.

First Stop: Kato Koufonissi and Swimming Fun

The first stop is at Kato Koufonissi, a dreamy spot with turquoise waters and scenic views. This is a true highlight, especially for those who love swimming and snorkeling. Guests love the clarity of the water and the lovely natural surroundings. You’ll have about two hours here, plenty of time for a swim, a bit of sunbathing, and taking in the peaceful atmosphere.

One reviewer expressed, “We had plenty of time to enjoy every stop and swim too,” emphasizing how well-paced the stop felt. Plus, the Greek BBQ lunch served on deck is a big part of the charm. It’s cooked fresh and includes options for vegetarians, with unlimited water and soft drinks. The food, combined with local wine, makes for a delightful meal that enhances the overall experience.

Second Stop: Ano Koufonissi

Next, you’ll arrive at Ano Koufonissi, which is the star of the tour for many. You get around three hours here, giving you enough time to explore the main beach “Ammos,” walk through the traditional town, and soak up the island’s mellow vibe. Some reviews mention the small sea taxis that can take you to more distant beaches for a small fee if you’re craving more exploration.

Rafal D
It was a great trip and amazing service provided by the whole team. Great views and good swim inside the cave

Visitors have described this part as “a perfect opportunity to explore the island at your own pace,” and appreciate the free time to relax or walk around. The island’s beauty, with its stunning beaches and quaint town, makes it a worthwhile visit.

Snorkeling and Cave Exploration

One of the more unique features is the chance to experience the Rina Cave. With waters so clear you can see the seabed plainly, this stop is particularly appealing for snorkelers and those curious about underwater life. Some travelers even get the chance to climb above the cave entrance for a jump or dive, making for some memorable photos and adrenaline rushes.

A guest noted, “The water is deep at the entrance of the cave and you can actually climb above the top of the cave entrance and jump/diver off,” which sounds like a fun, if adventurous, highlight. The approximately 45-minute stop here offers a perfect break before heading back.

The Return Journey

After the cave, the boat begins its cruise back toward Naxos, often under a sunset, which many consider the ideal way to end a day at sea. The return journey, around 2 hours, gives you another chance to relax, enjoy the views, or chat with fellow travelers.

It was just too much. The day needed more balance. We started getting on the boat with too many people, it was too crowded to move around. You were stuck in the spot you got when you boarded. Which was rough since you then had a two hour ride before you even got off the boat, way too long to the first stop. The stop was great, gorgeous and clear beautiful waters. We also had lunch and the food itself was really good… But because it was too many people, there was a line where there is no room for a line, where we were sitting and eating. So we were cramped even more, with food, with stranger's crotches inches from our plate or water from their suits/trunks dripping on our plate they were so…

It’s a long excursion so be prepared with lots of sunscreen and towels. Also, if you get motion sickness, bring meds to help you cope with any nausea (especially on windy days). The crew was amazing – we had a great time.
Elizabeth S
The tour stops are excellent and the guides provide a good amount of time to enjoy each. The food provided was delicious and the guides very helpful.

Overall Vibe and Crew

Throughout the reviews, the friendly, energetic crew is a recurring theme. Many emphasize how attentive and guides make the experience more enjoyable—providing facts about the islands, playing Greek music, and making sure everyone is comfortable. The food also gets high praise, with many commenting on how freshly cooked and delicious the BBQ is.

However, some mention that the day can be a bit crowded and the schedule slightly long, which might not suit everyone. If you prefer a more intimate or leisurely trip, this could be a consideration.

The crew members are friendly and energetic. The journey to Koufonisia took about 2 hours + and the swim was not bad, but the water was really cold despite the hot weather. Be sure to bring a towel to cover yourselves after the swim. A few beaches in Koufonisia Island and the water was clear.
John K
Best value for money trip you can do, would happily do it again. Diving in the open sea was a great experience
