Our driver was very nice, but unfortunately for those in the back of the van we couldn’t hear anything he said. What’s more, he gave very little information about anything we were driving past even to the front passenger. I believe a taxi driver would have given us more information. If you are only looking for a driver without commentary, perhaps this is a good choice. I feel personally this was a rather expensive option to not have the benefit of a true guide. I would not choose it again. I gave it 3 stars because the driving was good and he was responsive on what’s app for picking us up and taking us about.

Saun was an amazing tour guide, he was very informative, kind, and humorous. He went the extra mile!

Beautiful trip!! The village of Loss is breathtaking and the Loch. Stirling castle was beautiful. Perfect day and our driver Craig was the best!

That said, it’s worth noting that this is a daytime trip around some of Scotland’s most photogenic spots, and it runs about 7 hours. If you’re after a leisurely, in-depth exploration or are traveling with very young kids, it might feel a bit quick. Still, for most travelers craving a snapshot of Scotland’s stunning west coast, this tour hits the sweet spot.

It’s especially suited for those who want a well-organized, scenic excursion with knowledgeable guides and a focus on iconic sights.

What You’ll See and Do

Day Trip from Greenock Cruise Port- Lochs and Castle Tour - What You’ll See and Do

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

The journey kicks off with one of Scotland’s most famous natural wonders—Loch Lomond. The tour includes a stop at the picturesque village of Luss, renowned for its slate cottages and mountain views. We loved the way this stop offers an easy walk around a charming village and some perfect photo ops. As one reviewer pointed out, the scenery here is truly breathtaking, and it’s a highlight that sets the tone for the day.

Rest and be Thankful

Next up is a stop at the Rest and be Thankful mountain pass. This spot is at the highest point on the west coast road route and offers sweeping views of the surrounding valley. It’s the kind of place where you want your camera ready, as the vistas are nothing short of spectacular. The 30-minute stop gives you just enough time to take in the landscape, snap some photos, and appreciate the rugged beauty of Scotland’s terrain.

Inveraray Castle & Gardens

The crown jewel of the trip is Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Dukes of Argyll and the Clan Campbell. From the outside, it looks like a fairy tale castle, and the interior is equally impressive, with well-preserved rooms and furnishings that evoke the storybook vibe. If castles aren’t your thing, you can opt to visit Inveraray Jail and courthouse instead, an award-winning museum that vividly recounts prison life from medieval times onward.

We had a very nice tour with Shawn. He was delightful and shared a lot of very good information with us. There were just 4 of us in his Mercedes Vehicle. Very comfortable. We all had a lovely time. He always got us to very good Rest Rooms along the way too. The weather cooperated for the most part. Great pictures to help us remember Scotland.
