Dubrovnik: Local Wine, Dine and Design Workshop – A Genuine Look

If you’re tired of the usual guided tours and looking for something that truly captures the spirit of Dubrovnik in a relaxed, creative way, then the Wine, Dine & Design workshop might catch your eye. We’ve come across this experience and want to share what makes it special, along with some honest thoughts on whether it’s worth your time and money.
What we love about this experience? First, the way it combines art, local wine, and tasty bites into one seamless session. It’s a well-rounded way to get a feel for Dubrovnik’s culture—without feeling like you’re just ticking boxes. Second, the friendly guidance from passionate locals makes the entire process feel warm and genuine.
Really fun activity and the host was very friendly and helpful. Great evening
Spent a great couple of hours letting our imagination run wild. Experimenting with colours and not being too worried about the outcome. The two ladies were really encouraging and helpful with advice. The food was lovely. The wine less so! But I’m a wine snob and I prefer red wine over white, but it did not dampen my spirits nor my enthusiasm. The evening is primarily about the art work of which I’m proud.
On the flip side, one thing to consider is that this isn’t a structured wine tasting or art class in the traditional sense. It’s more of a laid-back, social vibe where you’re encouraged to experiment and enjoy. If you prefer very formal or highly curated experiences, this might not be your cup of wine. Still, if you’re after something memorable and interactive, this workshop could be just right.
This workshop suits travelers who want to connect with Dubrovnik’s local flavor—through art, food, and drink—in an inviting setting. It’s ideal for those who enjoy hands-on experiences, relaxed atmospheres, and meeting new people.

What’s the Experience Like?

Imagine walking into a cozy studio in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town—Studio Slatko kao Cukar—a spot that’s easy to find at Naljekovieva 6. You’re greeted with warm smiles, surrounded by the gentle hum of local music as the hosts set the tone for an evening of creativity and conviviality. All the art supplies are ready, so you don’t have to worry about a thing—just bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure.
Painting your tote bag is surprisingly engaging, even if you’re not an artist. The hosts are talented and encouraging, offering helpful tips without making you feel pressured. As you add colors inspired by the vibrant surroundings and heritage of Dubrovnik, you’ll find yourself relaxing and focusing on the moment.
Meanwhile, the wine flows freely, with a curated selection that showcases the region’s vineyards. Many reviews, like Laura’s, mention how the wine and music set a fantastic, laid-back atmosphere. Just be aware that some might find the white wines less to their taste, especially if you prefer reds—Beverley noted she’s more of a red wine person, but it didn’t affect her overall enjoyment.
Food plays a major role in the experience, too. Expect a platter of high-quality local cold cuts, cheeses, and fresh fruit, sourced from nearby farms and artisans. These bites aren’t just filler—they’re thoughtfully chosen to complement the wines and add to the sense of local authenticity.
We had an amazing time meeting people from all over the world and having a great laugh with them, the painting we took part in was so much fun even though we aren’t so artistic ourselves, we had a great time laughing about it with everyone. The hosts were fantastic, gave us great tips on how to get the best result on our tote bags, and were very attentive to us when we were low on drinks! The charcuterie provided was delicious as we got to try local meats and cheeses and bread.
