If you’re considering exploring Dubrovnik through a guided experience, this tour offers a pretty comprehensive way to see the city’s top sights without feeling overwhelmed. It combines a scenic drive, a walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town, and a trip up to Mt. Srd for some of the best views in the region.
With over 200 reviews and a solid 4.7-star rating, it seems like a good pick for travelers who want an engaging, well-organized introduction to the city.
What we really like about this tour is how it balances scenic vistas with cultural insights. You’ll get spectacular views from Mt. Srd, plus a detailed walking tour through Dubrovnik’s historic streets—both experiences that stick with you long after the trip. Also, the small-group size means you’re less likely to feel lost in a crowd, making the whole experience more personal.
We first took a large bus transfer to the Old Town, where we met our guide, Ketty. She was fun, engaging, and very informative. We only wished we had more time to explore! Afterward, we transferred to a minivan and enjoyed a scenic drive, stopping at several viewpoints with stunning views—right up to the highest point of Dubrovnik. I highly recommend this day tour for cruise passengers; it’s a great way to experience the city’s main highlights in a short time.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the recent history of the area and the rebuild. He showed us many interesting sites, both panoramic and historical.
Enjoyed the guides. They took our pictures multiple times. Had good information. They could have had a better English / non accent / but they were good.
One thing to bear in mind is that this tour isn’t suited for travelers with mobility issues or those who dislike uneven surfaces. The walking portions involve some moderate steps and cobblestone streets that could be tricky if you’re less mobile. It’s also worth noting that the tour doesn’t include museum or city wall visits, so if those are your main interests, you might want to look elsewhere.
This tour is ideal for anyone wanting a well-rounded, affordable way to see Dubrovnik with knowledgeable guides, great views, and a relaxed pace. It’s especially good if you’re short on time or visiting via cruise and want to maximize your Dubrovnik experience without committing to multiple days of sightseeing.

This tour begins at various locations—either directly from the cruise port, the Old Town, or your hotel—making it flexible depending on your plans. The pickup process seems well-organized, with many reviewers mentioning clear communication and punctuality. You’ll meet your guide either at Pile Gate, the cruise port, or your hotel, which is a big plus for avoiding unnecessary hassle.
Scenic Drive and Panoramic Views
The highlight of the drive is the ascent to Mt. Srd, where you’ll hop into a comfortable, air-conditioned van. This isn’t just a quick stop; it’s an hour-long ride with plenty of photo opportunities. The driver acts as your scenic guide, stopping at viewpoints overlooking Dubrovnik, the nearby islands, and even neighboring countries. Reviewers have repeatedly praised the driver’s knowledge and friendliness, with many mentioning how helpful he was with photos.
The trip up the mountain is often described as thrilling, especially due to the narrow, winding roads—think of it as a mini adventure in itself. Once at the top, you get about 20 minutes to take in the incredible sweeping views. Many mention the spectacular sight of Lokrum Island and the old city walls from above, making it a perfect photo op.
Exploring the River Ombla and Hidden Spots
On the way back down, your guide will take you off the main tourist trail to see the spring of River Ombla, a fascinating karst phenomenon originating from Bosnia. This spot is often overlooked, but according to reviews, it’s a meaningful glimpse into the natural side of Dubrovnik and its surroundings. You’ll also see the ruins of Marin Dri’s summer residence, adding a touch of local history.
It was an excellent tour. We went up onto the hills above Dubrovnik our driver stopped at several points for us to take photographs. He was great at taking photos of the two of us together at all the best locations. Beautiful views over old town Dubrovnik. We were taken back to the meeting point where we then met our tour guide Gordana who showed us around old town Dubrovnik and told us about the history. She was really knowledgeable and friendly. Fabulous tour we loved it. We were staying in Cavtat and caught the ferry to Dubrovnik rather than getting there by bus. Perfect day 👌
Liked seeing areas of Dubrovnik outside of Old Town, then getting the walking tour if Old Town. Great guides for both!
Fantastic walking tour of the old city and driving tour of surrounds ending back at the cruise terminal. The weather was atrocious with thunder, lightning and torrential rain. Amazed it hadn’t been cancelled but our guide took us into the information centre to talk about the city and its history before embarking on our walk, by which time the rain had gone off, leaving huge puddles and mud on the roads, which was being cleared away as we left the old city. We then went by minibus with Micky up to the cable car for views over the city before driving to the old mill and pumping station where the city gets its water supply from. Then a ride across the suspension bridge with views of the port….
Walking Tour of Old Town
After returning to the city, you’ll step out for a 1.5-hour guided walk through the Old Town. The guide takes you from Pile Gate through narrow streets filled with history and character. You’ll pass landmarks like the Franciscan monastery, St. Blaise church, and the cathedral, with plenty of stories about Dubrovnik’s past.
Reviewers have raved about guides like Dorotea, who are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and eager to answer questions. Many mention that their guides took them to hidden corners and lesser-known sites, making the experience more intimate and authentic. The Old Town walk is timed well, allowing enough space to soak in the architecture and history without feeling rushed.

What Makes This Tour Stand Out?

Knowledgeable Guides
The majority of reviews highlight the guides’ enthusiasm and expertise. Whether it’s Dorotea, Mirela, or others, guests appreciate guides who provide fascinating details, answer questions, and make the tour engaging. Several mention guides’ patience and willingness to go off-script to satisfy curiosity.
Stunning Views and Photo Opportunities
The Mt. Srd stop alone is worth the price, offering views that many say are unforgettable. Several reviewers mention how the panoramic drive is exciting and the stops are well-timed for photos, with drivers who help capture those moments.
Value for Money
At $53 per person, this tour offers a solid combination of transportation, expert guiding, and scenic stops. Given the variety of sights, historical insights, and the small-group setting, most feel they got great value. As one reviewer noted, “the price of the tour was good value for the money,” especially considering the quality of guides and the included panoramic views.
Flexibility and Comfort
The multiple departure times mean you can fit this into different schedules—whether you’re starting early or later in the afternoon. The air-conditioned van with Wi-Fi is a nice touch, especially in warmer months, making the journey comfortable and entertaining.
Potential Drawbacks to Keep in Mind

While many reviews are glowing, some smaller issues emerge. The van’s comfort isn’t universal—one review mentioned the air conditioning wasn’t working perfectly, and the vehicle was somewhat worn. The walking portion, although moderate, involves uneven surfaces and cobblestones, which could be tiring for some or challenging if you have mobility restrictions.
The tour does not include visits to city walls or museums, so if those are your main interests, you’ll need to plan additional visits. Also, some guides may give long, detailed commentary, which can become overwhelming if you prefer a brisk overview. Taking breaks or asking questions can help alleviate this.
