10/10. The host was phenomenal in explaining the history, the variety in activities throughout the day between the ruins, witnessing a carpet/textile site near the ruins, lunch and then finishing in Sirince made for a phenomenal day. Must do activity when you’re in Izmir

That said, keep in mind that it includes visits to multiple sites in a single day, which can feel a bit rushed, especially if you love taking your time. Also, there’s a stop at a carpet shop that some find a bit too sales-heavy, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

This tour suits travelers who want a comprehensive, hassle-free way to see key historical spots without the stress of organizing transportation or guides themselves. If you’re interested in archaeology, history, and local culture—plus if you’re traveling with a group or family—this could be a good choice.

We had a great time! The ruins at Ephysus are jaw dropping. Our guide Siddik was great! Strongly recommend the Tour.

The tour was very good. The day was long – picked up at 7:30 and dropped off at 5:30 – but the guide was really good so he kept it moving. He was seasoned so both knowledgeable and attentive. The driver had a long day! He was very good. Ephesus is amazing – that was the highlight and reason to go.

This was honestly one of the best days I’ve had in Turkey! Our tour guide, Nizam, was absolutely amazing — so funny, friendly, and full of knowledge. You can tell he truly loves what he does and knows the history inside out. I learned so much, laughed a lot, and just had the best time. It felt less like a tour and more like spending the day with a really cool friend who happens to know everything about the place. Highly recommend!

Travel-wise, the group is kept small (up to 45 people), which makes for a more personable experience. Many reviews highlight how the guides manage to cater to different languages and keep the atmosphere friendly and relaxed, a real plus if you’re traveling in a group or with family.

The House of Virgin Mary: Serenity and Significance

Ephesus Tour with Temple of Artemis and Sirince Village From Izmir - The House of Virgin Mary: Serenity and Significance

The tour kicks off with a visit to the House of Virgin Mary, a site revered by many, especially for those with religious ties. Officially a shrine since 1986, it’s believed to be where Mary spent her last days. Travelers tell us that the atmosphere there is peaceful, making it a meaningful start to the day.

Many reviewers mention how special it was to be in a space honored by the Catholic Church, with some like Johana describing it as feeling like a trip back in time. Others advise bringing a small bottle for holy water or a pen and paper for prayer, as they found the space very quiet and contemplative.

The visit lasts about 45 minutes, enough to soak in the calm without feeling rushed. A quick 5-minute drive takes you to Ephesus, where the real adventure begins.

Tour description is mostly accurate and food is good. But the experience can be better if shopping (tho not mandatory) can be highlighted in the tour description. Also, pre-tour communication can be improved such as reconfirming pickup time and car plate number etc. Right now the operator never contacts even the night before the tour begins, creating a sense of uncertainty for a traveler in a foreign country.

If you are going on this tour, please make sure that your guide is Nizam from Selcuk! He is a local, very knowledgeable about the region’s history and most importantly, Nizam is able to share that with others in a fun and digestible fashion. There was not a single moment when we were bored or tuned out. Nizam has a great personality, a phenomenal network of people that he knew at each of the sites. I am especially grateful to Nizam as my wife slipped and hurt her ankle on the tour despite taking all the caution of walking on a marble pathway. For the balance of the tour, Nizam went out of his way to ensure that she could periodically rest in the shade without compromising the tour for the…

Great guide! Neziem was a great guide. He was funny and knew a lot. You get picked up in inzmir without him and then you pick him up closer to the site. He clearly was passionate about the tour and his enthusiasm made me more excited about what we saw. We did see a rug making demonstration which was cool then the sales pitch was a bit annoying. But overall a great tour.

The stop is brief—around 30 minutes—but many reviews point out that it’s well worth the visit for the sense of standing where ancient worship once thrived. It’s a bit of a photo-op and a moment to reflect on human achievements in architecture and religion.

Exploring Ephesus: Walking Through History

Ephesus Tour with Temple of Artemis and Sirince Village From Izmir - Exploring Ephesus: Walking Through History

This is the core of the tour, and understandably, many reviews highlight this as the highlight of their day. The ancient city of Ephesus is a sprawling archaeological site with marble streets, impressive ruins, and stories layered through every corner.

In about 2 hours, you’ll explore highlights like the Odeon, Celsius Library, Temple of Hadrian, Heracles Gate, and the Terrace Houses (optional, with a small extra fee). The private houses are especially praised as they reveal the luxury and daily life of the ancient elite, although some find the sales pitch at the carpet shop afterward less appealing.

An excellent day with a small group. Our driver was very steady and careful, our tour guide Nisshan (. ?? Spelling) was beyond good. He was knowledgeable, great sense of humour, brilliant English speaking guide. A throughly enjoyable day Highly recommended

Very interesting, religiously historical, fascinating and educational with a rug making/sales presentation and candy pitch.

Extremely beautiful and interesting site, a must see if you are in this part of the world. Nisam was a great guide giving us a lot of history and context for what we were seeing. House of mother mary also interesting and a beautiful and serene space. Definitely recommend doing this when in Izmir

The guides excel at sharing stories that bring the ruins to life, and many travelers note how walking through Ephesus feels like stepping back into a different era—an experience that’s often described as “traveling back in time” or being in a postcard.

The Commercial Stops and Optional Extras

A common point in reviews is the visit to a carpet and jewelry shop after lunch, which is included in the itinerary. Some travelers find this stop useful for seeing traditional crafts, but others feel pressured into buying expensive items. A few mention that they would prefer to skip this part or have the option to opt out.

If you’re not into shopping or want to maximize your time at the ruins, it’s worth noting that this stop might feel a little like a tourist trap, despite the guides. Some suggest the tour could be improved by offering a “no-sales-pitch” option.

Lunch: A Taste of Local Cuisine

The included buffet lunch is generally described as solid and satisfying, with vegetarian options available. Many reviews praise the quality of the food, noting it as a nice break during the day. It’s served at a restaurant that offers a more upscale experience compared to typical roadside cafes, which adds value.

Lauren F
Great experience! We were very lucky it was not a crowded day at the various sites. Guide was great. Did not like the after lunch “carpet/jewelry buying” mandatory stop, wish they let us opt out or be more honest this is included. That shop felt like a scam and did not buy anything there.
Alexandra L
Very professional and friendly managing to cope with multiple people who spoken different languages, very knowledgeable and passionate about where we were and the history of the places. Was really good with places for pictures and do the wow moments when we could get great views of Ephese. Lunch was nice and a small out the way place and we go to visit a leather factory and silk weaving place which was interesting to learn about what they do in the region

It is a convenient and comprehensive way to get around 3 major sites. As it combines Virgin Mary’s home, Ephesus, Artemis Temple, and Sirince. You certainly pay a significant premium for the convenience of being of a private tour, with a private spacious and comfortable shuttle-bus and a guide. Also this tour includes a lunch in Sirince. The lunch was over my expectations, despite the fact that I was skeptical about the setup. It turned out to be great. The tour covered all that was intended to be covered, as mentioned. However if you are looking for more historic and elaborate counts, I would say this is rather too basic.

If you’re a foodie or just appreciate good, homemade-style meals after a morning of walking, this part of the tour hits the right notes. It’s also a good chance to chat with fellow travelers and recharge for the afternoon.

Sirince Village: Charm and Charmings

Ephesus Tour with Temple of Artemis and Sirince Village From Izmir - Sirince Village: Charm and Charmings

The afternoon is spent in Sirince Village, a hillside hamlet famous for its fruit wines and traditional houses. The visit lasts about 2 hours, giving you time to stroll, take photos, and enjoy the local ambiance.

Many visitors mention the wine tasting, which is included, as a highlight—an authentic experience that’s fun and flavorful. The village itself is described as picturesque, with charming streets and a relaxed vibe, making it a perfect contrast to the ancient ruins.

Some reviews suggest that the village can feel more like a string of shops than an authentic village experience, but overall, most find it worth the visit for its scenery and local character.
