Planning a trip to Cappadocia? This 3-day tour with flights from Istanbul offers a great way to see some of the most iconic sights without the hassle of organizing everything yourself. While it’s not perfect, it’s a solid option for those who want a comprehensive experience with guided insights and convenient logistics.

What we like about this tour is how smoothly everything is arranged — from flights to hotel stays — and the opportunity to visit famous landmarks like the Devrent Valley, Goreme Museum, and the Underground City. The inclusion of craft workshops and visits to local factories adds a nice touch of authentic local flavor.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that some travelers found the factory visits a bit pushy, which might make you feel uncomfortable if you’re not into shopping.

The tour great in covering the highlights and must see spots in the area. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly and willing to be flexible if more or less time at each site was required by the guests. I particularly liked that it was clearly stated that we had no obligations to purchase the wares of the workshops and galleries we went to. This made it a much more relaxed experience. Though not a negative experience, the two lunch venues were very different both in atmosphere and food. Both were tourist style buffets. The lunch on the first day was quite average from a variety and quality perspective. Lunch of the second day was far better in both perspectives – better venue, greater select…

We loved elements of this tour but the transportation and logistics were a nightmare. Our first day guide had a BO problem that was tough on a small bus. The flights were super early and the. After a crazy hour of driving from the airport where the driver was doing 135km an hour in the bus and then in his phone constantly and reading his run sheet , we got dropped off in the middle of nowhere where we met the guide and apparently started the tour. Bags still in the back and exhausted with no food and toilet. The next day we did the ballooning which was once and then on to a full day tour. The problem was the third day, we had seen everything, nothing at all booked and we had a 9.30pm flight …

Day 1: From Istanbul to the Land of Fairy Chimneys

The journey begins with an early morning flight from Istanbul, which is a real time-saver — no long bus rides or overnight stays needed. The tour provider handles all transfers, so once you arrive in Cappadocia, you’re greeted at the airport and whisked to your hotel. We should mention, the included hotel options are charming cave or stone hotels—authentic and memorable, but do note that some reviews mention certain amenities like bars or restaurants may not match expectations set by other reviews.

Once settled, your guide will kick things off with an introduction to the region’s unique geology and history. Expect a first visit to Devrent Valley, famous for its surreal fairy chimneys that resemble sculptures or animals. The guides are generally well-rated for their knowledge, making these visits both interesting and informative.

Day 2: Deep Dive into Cappadocia’s Wonders

Day 2 is packed with iconic sights. The tour takes you through Pasabag (Monk’s Valley), where some of the most famous fairy chimneys are found. The landscape here is striking — tall, mushroom-shaped formations with a sense of otherworldliness.

Next up is a visit to Goreme Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you’ll see ancient cave churches decorated with frescoes. The guides help you understand the significance of these sites; they’re a highlight for many travelers.

The Underground City—either Derinkuyu or Kaymakli depending on the day—is a fascinating glimpse into past underground living. These sites are surprisingly extensive, and guided tours make navigating easier. Be prepared for some narrow passages and steep stairs; as one reviewer noted, this may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

This 3-day tour with flights was amazing. Everything was good organized, pick-up at the hotels was in order. Our stay in the cave hotel was such a nice experience….And yes the balloon flight was as they describe, a wow feeling….When you go to Cappadocia you must do this for sure, a once in a life time experience….Amazing and so beautiful to see the sunrise in early morning. Also the tours organized are very interesting. These 3 days are for sure tiring as a lots of things to do….(better 3 days than 2 days to rest a bit on the third day). Anyway we went tired back to Istanbul but happy we did….satisfied and full of emotions of the beauty of Cappadocia. Wim and Olga

The parts that went well were great, and the parts that didn’t, didn’t. It’s clear that this tour company either has a lot of smaller companies under it or partners with different providers to offer the different aspects of this package: the tours, the transfers, the hotel, the balloon. There were several lapses in communication between all of these providers that resulted in us getting told the wrong pickup time for different activities. For example, I got a text from the tour company saying our balloon pickup was at 4:30 am, then hotel reception called my room and told me it was 3:20 am an hour later. So we got ready at 3:20 and didn’t get picked up until 4:30. On our last day, we …

We loved Cappadocia. Saw some wonderful sights. Beautiful. Hotel was good but didn’t have the bar and restaurant listed in the Trip Adviser revue. Lots of steps. Hated the hard selling in the carpet, leather, onyx and ceramic factories. Made us feel really uncomfortable.

In the afternoon, there’s a visit to Avanos, a town famous for its pottery. Here, craft workshops give visitors a chance to participate, which many find a fun and authentic experience. Just keep in mind some visitors felt pressured to buy or felt uncomfortable at factory visits, so if shopping isn’t your thing, you might want to set boundaries early.

Day 3: Self-Guided and Optional Adventures

The third day is left open for self-guided exploration. You might choose to revisit favorite spots, relax at your hotel, or opt for a hot air balloon ride if weather permits — an optional add-on that’s often a highlight for travelers.

The tour includes airport transfers and flights, so the logistics are streamlined. However, as one reviewer pointed out, no assistance is provided at the airports, meaning you’ll need to handle check-ins and transfers yourself, which is usually manageable but worth noting.
