Our Tour Guide Borat was Awesome!! Outstanding historical knowledge & information. Great sense of humor. As an Aussie, my husband & I have dreamed of coming to Anzac Cove for years, and have seen the memorial services on tv, but that doesn’t prepare your for the overwhelming emotion of the battle graveyards. Would strongly recommend to any Aussie wanting a memorable experience.

This tour is best suited for history buffs, curious travelers, or anyone interested in understanding Turkey’s role in global conflicts and ancient legends. It’s also great if you prefer guided experiences that take care of logistics, so you can focus on soaking in the sights.

Starting in Istanbul: Convenient Pickup and Early Departure

The tour kicks off early in the morning, with pickup from your hotel in either the Taksim or Sultanahmet areas. The schedule is tight, with pickups between 6:00 and 7:00 am, so it’s perfect if you’re an early riser. The transfer to Eceabat, the gateway to Gallipoli, takes most of the morning, giving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way.

Gallipoli: A Deep Dive into WWI History

Gallipolli tour was excellent and guide was fantastic Troy visit was ok however the site has been neglected and needs to be supported with funds to ensure the history of the site is more memorable

Fully packed two day tour with very well organised hand offs and transfers. Very friendly staff with guest comfort at the centre of their hearts. Just be aware that the Gallipoli trip does require frequent off and on to the tour bus as many interesting sites are close by. The Troy trip has many steps though all very manageable but need to wear sensible shoes.

We did the 2 day Gallipoli & Troy tour from Istanbul! The entire tour was absolutely fantastic! We cannot speak more highly of the experience! Every detail, from hotel pick up to drop off was organised to perfection! All staff were amazing but we cannot speak more highly of our tour guide who was absolutely brilliant! He was very informative, was an exceptional story teller & made everyone in our group feel comfortable! And we struck gold when we had him for our 2nd day tour as well! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone!!

Your guide will recount stories of the soldiers, the strategy, and the sacrifices made, making the experience more personal and meaningful. Key sites like Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair bring the battle to life visually and emotionally.

The trenches at Johnston’s Jolly are a highlight for many, offering a tangible sense of what soldiers endured. Visitors have lauded guides for their knowledgeable, balanced accounts—one review specifically mentioned how guides add a “Turkish perspective,” enriching the experience.

Lunch and Reflection

After a morning of exploration, you’ll have lunch at a local restaurant in Eceabat. Reviewers mention the food is included, and while some found the lunch plentiful, others felt it could be smarter with better timing, as one noted the lunch was late in the day. Still, it’s generally appreciated as part of the hassle-free experience.

Evening in Canakkale

Following the tours, you’ll check into your hotel for an overnight stay. Most travelers find the hotel’s location convenient, placing you right in the heart of Canakkale for easy access to local cafes, restaurants, and sights. Some reviews mention the hotel’s noise level as a downside, especially if you’re a light sleeper, so packing earplugs might be wise if you’re sensitive to nightlife noise.

This was an excellent tour. Very well organised – pick ups rests communication etc Highlight was definitely our guides – Charlie for Gallipoli and Hassan for Troy. Both really knowledgeable and explained the background and history exceptionally well. Good fun too. Both sites are fascinating and well worth seeing. We stayed overnight in Çanakkale which is a lovely town and our hotel – Arthur – was very nice. Great to have downtime there after an early start Coach – minivan – was very comfortable between 10 and 14 of us typically in it so nice small groups. We were back in our hotel in Istanbul just after 9pm I would highly recommend this tour

Haman and Charlie were great! This is a long drive but well worth the visit of both Gallipoli and Troy. Both guides were very informative and kind and the trips were well planned and paced. If possible I recommend adding the Troy Museum before the visit as it gives a ton of additional information and may of the artifacts are stored there.

Fantastic and really well organised tour! Our guide Charre from the Crowded House team was so knowledgeable with great facts and stories about both Gallipoli and the city of Troy. Our accommodation in Canakkale was in a great spot and the town is fun and vibrant with plenty of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Would highly recommend the 2-day tour!

Day Two: Unveiling Troy’s Mysteries

The hotel was the most memoriable ….. noisy and uncomfortable … we were placed on the lowest floor on the street side adjacent to the night clubs which raged until the early hours of the morning ( hard to sleep after a huge day of travel & tours) …. We also had to carry our luggage to and from the ferry ( not good ) so many other hotels in Canakkale you could use other than this cheap one star . Having said that , our tours and our guides were 5 Star ! The guides were excellent , new their history and were also entertaining …. Also the drivers were excellent and safety conscious… the mini buses were modern , clean and well maintained.

Memorable experience visiting Gallipoli, very emotional, but a must do trip. Overnight stay to see Troy added to the experience. Pickup and drop off from our Hotel made everything so easy. Well informed guide with a balanced, empathetic account of events

The tour was very nice. We stopped at 9:30 am for “refreshments” on the way, however, we got to a little seaside town for lunch only about 1.5 hrs later. No one was hungry for lunch, a lot of food went to waste. The provided lunch was pretty good, I had the vegan selection. The first afternoon was Gallipoi, which was rather fascinating being an American. We did not learn much about WWI in school, but going to this location was a unique experience. Many of our co-travelers were Australian or New Zealanders and we learned the significance of this location for them. We returned to the seaside town to take the ferry to Cannakle. It is a “college” town and rather quaint. The tour put us…

The Guides and Logistics

Multiple travelers mention how knowledgeable and friendly guides make all the difference. They add context and stories that turn a sightseeing trip into a captivating storytime. The tours stay on schedule, and drivers are efficient, which is crucial given the packed itinerary.

However, a couple of reviews suggest that some logistics could improve, such as better communication about timing and, notably, the experience of hotel choices. One guest found the hotel noisy and uncomfortable, illustrating the importance of checking your accommodation options in advance.

The travel agency does a grest job in communicating details about pickup times and what the itinerary will be. Very professional drivers an tour guides with impressive knowledge. The area is really beautiful and was interesting. Both areas on this two day tour was amazing. It was Nice spending time in a wonderful city of Troy and area.

We had a wonderful time with Crowded House Gallipoli tours. We were very impressed with how well organised the tour was. Including pickup and drop off from Istanbul, stopping for lunch, the Troy and Gallipoli day tours and the accommodation booked for us. The tour guides, drivers and the staff at Crowded House Tours were kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. Worth every cent, I highly recommend!
Trisha E
Thr while tour was extremely professional. Both tour guides were so knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs. They both provided so much interesting information without getting bogged down with too much detail. The whole tour from the bus pick up, drop off's, lunch, ferry, tours, hotels was extremely organised and we felt safe and informed the whole time. Would highly recommend.
