Alfonso and Kiki were great hosts and guides. Highly recommend. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you

Cruisers, make note that this tour is about 45 min each way from Port… follow Puerto Vallarta time, not boat time! We missed our tour by an hour because our cruise told us to follow boat time. Mismaloya xtreme was so accommodating. They fit us in and took good care of us. Efrain was our guide and he was excellent. Unfortunately the water was rough so only a couple people got to Cliff jump and visibility was limited for snorkeling. Their location is far away from the cruise port. Plan on spending $100 extra for taxi round trip.

If you’re after a lively, active day with opportunities for cliff jumps and underwater exploration, this tour ticks many boxes.

Starting Point and Transportation

The tour begins in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica, specifically outside the Pemex gas station on Carr. Costera a Barra de Navidad. From there, you’ll hop into a private vehicle, which is a plus because it’s a quick 15-minute drive down the scenic coastal highway to Mismaloya. The convenience of the pickup is a real bonus; it takes the hassle out of organizing your own transport.

The First Stop: Playa Mismaloya

The initial stop is at Mismaloya Beach, a beautiful stretch of sand with a laid-back vibe. Here, you can use the facilities, relax, and get ready for the main events. The reviews note that the pickup and drop-off logistics run smoothly, with some guests mentioning that Uber back to Puerto Vallarta is affordable and straightforward.

Los Arcos de Mismaloya: The Heart of the Tour

Next, you’ll move onto the star of the trip—Los Arcos. These iconic rock formations are part of a marine sanctuary designated for their geological significance and vibrant marine life. This is where the snorkeling kicks off.

Had a great time with friends! Went snorkeling, learned a lot about the native life, and went to a little cove beach to hang out at the end. Would recommend!

This was a blast! Our guide Alfonso was a real beaut…honest, funny and knowledgeable. The cliff jump was a bit more than an absolute beginner would want…there was a six foot section of rock you had to scale up on your hands and knees, but that was right at the beginning of the activity. Then it was off to probably more than 1.5 hours of snorkeling and touring Los Arcos. Saw a TON of fish as soon as we dropped in, and did two separate snorkeling areas (one being the hidden beach). At the hidden beach, Alfonso's son Diego showed us a bunch of hermit crabs which were easy enough to watch and hold in hand, which was neat. All throughout the activity, Alfonso was generous with beers, sodas, w…

A Great tour all around. After removing our shoes and having them stored in the Mismaloya Xtreme Tours secondary harbour office; we boarded a reversed facing boat through the breaking waves on the beach. Alfonso was our 'no nonsense' Guide and kept the group moving quickly with no time for slowness. This left all of us with an Abundance of time in the water. This was definitely a better approach, as I've been on other tours where the slowness of some group members kept everyone from fully enjoying the highlights due to reduced time. The optional Cliff diving in the beginning, wasn't for anyone uncomfortable with basic rock climbing. Two of us in the group of nine, climbed up slippery roc…

From what reviews indicate, you'll love the chance to swim among colorful fish, with guides often helping guests spot various species. One reviewer mentioned, “We saw so many different fish,” highlighting how rewarding the underwater part can be when conditions are good.

However, some mention that the water can be murky, which could limit visibility. This variability is normal in marine environments, so it's good to go with flexible expectations.

Cliff Jumping: Heart-Racing Fun

The cliff jumping here is a major highlight. The tour offers options—jumps from about 8 feet up for beginners, or higher for adrenaline junkies. The reviews love this part, with many saying it’s the “death part” of the trip in a good way, fun, and safe thanks to the guides’ supervision.

One guest shared, “Cliff jumping was the thing I wasn’t sure about initially, but it was the best part,” while others appreciated the variety of heights, from 7 to 20 feet, so everyone can choose their comfort zone.

Here's some more things to do in Puerto Vallarta

Snorkeling and Marine Life

Snorkeling is a core activity, and many reviews highlight how guides are eager to help you find fish and point out interesting marine creatures. The guides even go as far as to free-dive to retrieve starfish and other sea life for guests to hold—adding a memorable touch.

That said, some guests experienced less clear waters, which impacted their snorkeling experience. We’d advise bringing waterproof cameras and being prepared for the possibility that underwater visibility might not always be perfect.

The Hidden Beach

The final stop at the secluded beach is a favorite. Accessible only by boat, this quiet spot offers a chance to relax away from crowds. Guests have reported seeing tiny stingrays and enjoying the peace. It’s a great way to unwind after the more energetic activities.

Additional Perks

Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy snacks, sodas, bottled water, and even cold beers—a thoughtful touch, especially after jumping or swimming. The boat ride itself is described as refreshing, with some noting a little rockiness, so if you’re prone to seasickness, bring precautions.

The tour ends at Mismaloya Beach, where you can linger for as long as you like. This flexibility is appreciated, giving you time to soak in the scenery or grab some local food before heading back.

An Honest Look at the Value

At $44 per person, this tour offers a lot of bang for your buck. You're getting a well-rounded experience: scenic boat rides, engaging activities, guides, and time to relax. Reviews consistently praise the guides for their friendliness and expertise, which elevates the experience from just a boat trip to a memorable adventure.

However, it’s worth noting that the water clarity can vary, and some may find the murky conditions disappointing if snorkeling is a top priority. Also, the tour doesn’t include WiFi on board, which might matter if you’re hoping to update social media or stay connected.

Some reviews mention the end location being different from the pickup point—specifically, the tour ends at Mismaloya Beach rather than returning to Zona Romantica—so planning your return transportation in advance is a smart move.
