If you’re considering a dinner cruise in Montreal, this experience offers a combination of good food, stunning waterfront views, and lively entertainment.
We haven’t personally been on this cruise, but based on the reviews and info available, it seems like a solid choice for those wanting to enjoy Montreal’s scenic riverfront while indulging in a gourmet meal. It’s especially appealing if you love a relaxed yet lively evening with some dancing and socializing thrown in.
We particularly like the well-curated menu, which features locally inspired dishes like Nordic shrimp and braised beef cheek—these aren’t your typical cruise fare. Plus, the panoramic views from the glass-enclosed dining rooms ensure you get a good look at Montreal’s skyline, making the meal feel more special. An added bonus is the DJ and dance floor, which keeps the energy up after dinner.
Our experience was wonderful! The atmosphere was pleasant, everything was clean, the service was excellent, and the food was amazing!!!
What can we say — this was a 10 out of 10 experience! Visiting Montreal for the first time this was truly a highlight. A red-carpet evening aboard a stunning river cruise featuring a five-course gourmet meal made with locally sourced ingredients. Everything was perfect — from the elegant table settings and breathtaking scenery to the beautiful live instrumental music that set the mood. After dinner, the celebration continued with a lively dance party on the upper deck, complete with a fantastic DJ and incredible energy. It was the perfect way to celebrate a milestone birthday — a complete surprise for my husband — made even more special when the staff arrived with a sparkling desse…
The food was unexpectedly good for a trip like this. We had the chicken and beef which were cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. Our waiter Sofia was very attentive and the entertainment was great. Not a huge amount to see outside. The toilets were clean and the boat comfortable.
A possible downside? The price of around $130 per person might seem a bit steep if you’re looking for a casual night out—especially since the experience lasts around 3.5 hours, and some reviews mention that the outside viewing areas can be limited or affected by weather.
Still, for a special occasion or a romantic evening, this cruise can deliver a memorable experience. It fits best for couples, groups celebrating, or anyone wanting a unique way to see Montreal from the water.
If you’re someone who enjoys good food combined with scenic views and lively music, this cruise could be just right. It’s not necessarily a quiet, romantic escape—more of a social, celebratory kind of night—so keep that in mind when planning.

Starting Point and Departure
You’ll meet at the Conveyor Pier in Old Montreal, specifically at the Promenade des Bouquinistes. The cruise kicks off at 7:00 pm, giving you a lovely evening floating along the Saint Lawrence River. The location is convenient, near public transportation, which makes arriving easier, and the meeting point is quite central.
The Boat and Its Features
The boat itself, called the Cavalier Maxim, is a modern vessel with three glass-enclosed dining rooms. These spaces are designed to give passengers a clear view of the Montreal skyline and waterfront attractions from every seat. The large picture windows really do make a difference, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without feeling boxed in.
On the upper deck, there are two open-air terraces and a dance floor, perfect for enjoying the fresh air or getting your groove on after dinner. The cruise is comfortable, with enough space for about 150 travelers—so it’s not overly crowded but lively enough for a social vibe.
Great from start to finish! The food was great, the live harpist and saxaphone player elevated the meal portion of the dinner. The boat tour was beautiful, going from day light to night. The only critique, I wish an announcement would have been made, for when the dancing/dj starts. Or, have the announcement placed on the TV that had the menu options running.
The service on the boat was top notch. Very friendly. The views were amazing as you move along the St Lawrence River. The entertainment was also very good. During dinner we had live performances from a Harpist (playing modern music) as well as a saxophonist doing the same. After dinner, there was a live DJ for dance music outside on the deck. By far the best thing was the food. Very tasty and never overcooked. We had the 5 course meal and paid a little extra for the filet mignon once on the boat. Totally worth it though. The staff also supplied my wife with a candle on her dessert for her birthday making it extra special.
The service was smooth and professional from boarding to off boarding. The staff was very courteous and helpful, the service was great and the food was excellent.
The Meal: Gourmet and Locally Inspired
The menu typically includes a 3- or 5-course meal, with options like salmon fillet, chicken supreme, and braised beef. The chef aims to serve dishes as visually appealing as they are tasty, and reviewers note that the food is surprisingly good for a cruise. The chef’s special (sometimes an extra main course with a Red Carpet upgrade) adds a touch of luxury, while the desserts—like chocolate-blueberry combinations—are a highlight.
The onboard wine steward is available to recommend beverages that pair well with your meal, adding to the experience’s sense of indulgence. Coffee or tea rounds out the dinner, and gratuities are included, so no surprises there.
Views and Sights
As you eat, you'll be treated to stunning vistas of Montreal’s skyline, illuminated bridges, and landmarks like the Biosphere, Olympic Stadium, and La Ronde amusement park. The cruise travels along the river, providing a unique perspective of the city that you can’t get from land.
Some reviews mention the scenery on rainy evenings—even in less-than-ideal weather, the views can still be worthwhile, but of course, clear weather makes everything more photogenic. The Jacques-Cartier Bridge offers a particularly memorable crossing, especially at night when it’s beautifully lit.

The cruise lasts around 3 hours 30 minutes, which is a good length to enjoy the scenery, eat well, and dance without feeling rushed. At roughly $130 per person, the experience offers a decent value considering the gourmet meal, drinks, entertainment, and scenic adventure all bundled together.
Some reviews mention that the food quality exceeds expectations for a cruise, and the service is generally attentive and friendly. It’s worth noting that the view can be diminished by weather or noise in the dining area, which can be a downside if you’re seeking a quiet, romantic evening.
