Perfect evening on the water. A great buffet and enterainment was provided. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset and the shore fireworks. Our server Tina was super nice.

Wonderful views of the city at night. Watched the sunset from the ocean before dinner. The entertainment and the staff were exceptional.

Need more selections on food. Fish were very bland, chicken were good, beef is too raw for both of us. The carver only cut all fat piece for my husband so he has to toss that. The activities is good. My suggestion is to have a little stage for people dance with disco and cha cha songs. I think that will be the best. 😁

This cruise is ideal if you’re after a relaxing, scenic dinner with entertainment, especially if you’re keen to see Oahu’s coastline from the water. If you’re traveling with kids or seeking a more niche activity, this might not be the top pick, but for most visitors wanting a straightforward evening cruise with good food and fun, it’s worth considering.

Setting Sail from Honolulu’s Aloha Tower Marketplace

The meeting point is at the Aloha Tower Marketplace, a lively spot in downtown Honolulu. From here, you’ll board the Star of Honolulu, a well-maintained vessel certificated to go beyond Diamond Head, offering some of the best views of Kahala’s Gold Coast. The boat’s stabilizing features help ensure a smooth ride, even when the sea gets a bit choppy.

Food was plentiful and the sunset and back drop were divine. However it just felt too touristy. The cruise was about 2 hours in total. Staff were friendly and helpful. I found it to be pricey for what we got.

The Itinerary and Route

The cruise typically lasts about 2 hours, with a 3-hour option on Fridays for those wanting a longer experience. The captain has the discretion to alter the route depending on sea conditions, but most excursions will head out past Diamond Head, offering panoramic views of the coastline and the islands’ natural beauty. Many reviews comment on the fireworks display during the ride, which adds a special touch to the evening.

The Buffet: Pacific Rim Cuisine

As you settle into your private table, the highlight for most will be the buffet featuring Pacific Rim dishes. It’s all-you-can-eat, and the presentation receives praise, with some reviews calling the food “great” and “delicious.” However, a couple of comments point out that the food can be cold and the lines long, so arriving hungry and patient might be wise.

The buffet includes a variety of dishes, and while soft drinks aren’t listed as part of the meal, coffee, tea, and one Signature Mai Tai are included. You’ll want to indulge in the tropical cocktails—many guests mention the good value for the drink included in the ticket price.

Entertainment and Atmosphere

The live contemporary entertainment is generally well-received. Expect a lively atmosphere with a pianist, saxophonist, and perhaps some island dance performances.

Great food and entertainment! We had no trouble boarding. Only disappointed when we picked up our car and it was $27 to park!

I didn’t realize there were 2 different dinner options and I probably would have upgraded the pkg to the lobster dinner had I realized, Plus because it happened to be the only evening of kind of breezy weather they didn’t go out and took the boat into the harbor to sail because it was too choppy. Disappointing, but understandable.

Be sure you do your research and know what you're getting yourself into. Apparently there are different levels of dining, and we missed that information. We ended up on the first deck seated with other people. Very dated boat, tables, charis etc…food just okay. Don't expect a fine dining experience. Entertainers were fantastic, and they gave it their all. If I could go back in time I would have skipped this.

Some reviews highlight how engaging and fun the crew makes the show, with guests encouraged to participate in hula lessons or disco dances. The finale, in particular, seems to be a crowd favorite, with some reviewers describing it as “so much fun.”

Get there early, there is a cute pre show about 15 minutes before loading. Crew was awesome and the food was very good. The view of the sunset and the city are very breathtaking. The closing show at 7pm is very good and entertaining to watch. Don't forget to adventure the ship after dinner. Great views from the top deck!
    Kerry M
For the best experience, don’t pick the bottom beck dining. Dancers were alright. But Danny out server was amazing
    Vanessa F
we wish we knew how many people were on the boat and that we had limited capacity to move around on the boat and take pictures at the top. We did not even get to go to the top of the boat.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion, consider the photo package—some reviews mention frustration over missing photo opportunities, so ask in advance if you want professional shots.

Patience with food and service—a few guests said the lines for food are long and the food can be cold, so plan accordingly.
