Plus, the flexibility of choosing between larger groups, small groups, or an exclusive VIP experience makes it feel tailored to your vibe.
Very fun day! Especially if you add the wine tasting!! Marco, provided a lovely very filling lunch, paired with lovely wines! He was very knowledgeable on wines as he ownes a five star restaurant, and spent 25 years leading the culinary history and art of Pompeii! Our tour guide for the city of Pompeii was both very knowledgeable and funny!!! I was traveling with my 2 adult children and we had a wonderful day. Our driver Giovanni was also wonderful filling us in on the history on our way to Pompeii. Great day! Highly recommend!
From start to finish every thing was excellent, communication with our guide Geppi via whap app and at meeting point . Thoughout the day everything ran like clockwork. We had tour guide Tomas in Pompeii who brought the story to life, a fantastic knowlegable guide. The lunch eith wine tasting was a soecial treat and both foid and wine served was perfect. We were then treated to a tour of the vineyard before we headed off to climb mt Vesuves. 10/10. Would highly recommend this tour
All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable and even quite funny at times. The lunch and wine tasting were even bettee than expected. Antonio was a safe and timely driver and Federica was a great host who also happens to be pretty cute.
One thing to keep in mind is that the tour covers a lot of ground in just one day — which means a fair amount of walking and a tight schedule. It’s best suited for travelers who enjoy active days and don’t mind a bit of hustle.

What to Expect from the Tour

This tour is built for travelers who want a well-organized, all-in-one experience. Starting early at 8:00 am, you’ll be picked up from various points in Naples, easing the stress of planning logistics. From there, the day unfolds with a visit to the Pompeii Archaeological Park, the UNESCO World Heritage site that vividly preserves an ancient Roman city buried by Vesuvius.
Visiting Pompeii
In about two hours, you’ll walk through the sprawling ruins, guided (or audio-guided, if you’re in a smaller group) through the city’s streets, homes, and public spaces. The reviews tell us that guides help bring the place alive with interesting facts about how Pompeii’s residents lived.
One reviewer raves, “The guide definitely helps with some interesting facts about the way they live. Highly recommend.”
Our guide Francisco and Mario the driver were amazing. Francisco was always making us laugh and made the ride very enjoyable. We would absolutely book with him again!
Our guide Luigi was an entertaining host and our driver Peter did an exceptional job in the difficult weather conditions. Would travel to Almafi Coast and Sorrento with them any time.
This tour was amazing! The transportation, accommodations, tour guide, lunch food, and overall experience was awesome. The bus picked us up right around 8am and took us to a guided tour of Pompeii. Around 11:30, we headed to lunch on the way up to Mt. Vesuvius National Park. Then we had 2 hrs to explore Mt. Vesuvius after lunch. This was a great experience and would definitely recommend if you want to explore these locations while you are in Naples.
While Pompeii is undeniably impressive, it’s large and can feel overwhelming. Expect some walking on uneven terrain, so comfortable shoes are essential. Be prepared for crowds, especially during peak seasons, though early visits tend to be quieter.
Mt. Vesuvius Visit
After Pompeii, the group heads to Vesuvius National Park for a scenic stop and a hike to the crater. The area has been painted by artists over the years, capturing its dramatic landscape, and it offers incredible views over the Bay of Naples.
The actual walk to Vesuvius’s crater is manageable with guidance from a volcanologist, who explains the volcano’s history and activity. Multiple reviews describe the hike as enjoyable and worth the effort, with one noting, “The hike to Vesuvius was great, the weather can change every few minutes so better to have a rain jacket/poncho than not! Antonella was so friendly and had great energy!”
Keep in mind, the trail is steep and involves some physical effort. There are no loos at the top, so you’ll want to go before starting the hike. The tour driver takes you close to the rim, meaning you won’t need to walk the entire way up if you prefer a shorter stroll.
Lunch and Wine Tasting
Post-hike, you'll enjoy a delicious Italian lunch paired with local wine. The reviews highlight the value of this meal — simple yet satisfying, with some noting the wine tasting as a highlight.
One reviewer says, “The wine tasting and lunch was exceptional — totally worth doing.” The included meal takes the stress out of searching for a place to eat, and the wine adds a pleasurable touch to the experience.

Duration and Value
With a total of around 8 hours, this tour packs in a lot, all for about $166 per person. Considering the entrance fees, guided commentary, transport, lunch, and wine tasting are included, it offers good value for a full-day adventure.
While some reviews mention delays or issues like waiting times and audio quality, these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule. Most travelers find the organization seamless and appreciate the well-timed schedule.
The Realities from Reviews
The majority of reviews are glowing, with a 4.8 out of 5 rating based on 142 reviews. Travelers often praise the guides, beautiful views, and the enjoyable balance of activities. “The top of Mount Vesuvius is an amazing site! Pompeii was great too!” one reviewer shares.
However, some reviews point out hiccups. For instance, a commenter mentions that the VIP tour felt overpriced and underdelivered, citing issues like delays, audio difficulties, and guide clarity.
Another notes that the hike involves steep terrain and no restroom facilities at the top, so plan accordingly. These insights help set realistic expectations, especially during busy seasons when crowds can slow things down.
