An excellent tour! Our guide Gabriel was very knowledgeable, passionate and helpful, even after the tour as we messaged him for further recommendations. We tried at least three of his recommendations and all were superb and exactly what we were looking for. Go hungry as there is plenty of food and drink included. Would highly recommend!
excellent tour. Alice, our guide was super and we really enjoyed the company of the other tour participants! Food and drink offered was totally delicious!

What This Tour Entails: A Close Look at the Experience

The tour kicks off near the Aliados subway exit, a central spot that’s easy to find, and starts promptly, so being there 10 minutes early is wise. It lasts about three hours, which is just enough time to get a solid taste of Porto’s culinary heartbeat without feeling rushed.
Our guide Isabel was informative , warm, engaging and very clear. She was told.notch and all three of us enjoyed it thoroughly!
João is a great guide who showed us the best food in Porto, making our rainy day a perfect day!
We loved this tour, and our guide Granado made the tour really fun and interesting, as well as drawing our group of strangers together. Granado clearly knew and had a great rapport with all the owners and staff of the places we went, which added to the general feeling for the day, despite the rainy weather! Food varied in portion etc, and they really did not skimp on wine throughout the day. I think I would recommend this tour potentially over any of the port tastings you can do in Porto, as we got to learn about wine from the Douro valley as well as Port wine, with Granado being incredibly knowledgeable about both.

The Itinerary Breakdown
Traditional Cafe Breakfast
Your first stop is a classic Porto cafe, where you’ll indulge in a breakfast that mimics what locals start their day with. Think fresh bread, maybe some pastries, and of course, a coffee or a local drink to set the tone. This is a great way to kick off immersed in the city’s morning rhythm. Reviewers mention enjoying this authentic start, feeling like a true Porto local right from the first sip and bite.
Market Visit and Tasting
Next, the tour visits a charming market, like Mercado do Bolhão, where you can see fresh produce and local products. Here, you’ll sample Iberian ham, sardines, cheeses, and regional wines, including the chance to try a green wine.
I would highley recommend this tour! Our guide Affonso was amazing he was friendly, knowledgable and funny. He made the whole tour so interesting not only about the food but about the history of Porto and Portugal! If I could give him 10 stars I would. Every stop was carefully thought out and all of the food was incredible and all paired with a perfect drink. I have done similar tours in other city’s that cost much more than this so I would rate the value for money on this tour 5/5 as for the price you certainly get your moneys worth. This tour has been the highlight of my trip to Porto so thank you Affonso!
our guide, Santiago, made our evening trip, he was first class.
Great tour, fine wines and very good food with an excellent guide.

Old Shops and Local Eateries
From there, it’s a walk past old shops and specialty stores, tasting their products and learning about their history. The guide shares stories about Porto’s food scene, giving extra context that enriches each bite.
The visits are all to local and traditional businesses, which seems to resonate with many guests. One customer noted the experience felt very authentic, with the stops “focused on places frequented by locals.”
Arnaldo was an excellent guide, giving us insights around the city, its history, interesting facts, and super knowledgeable & friendly. Everything we ate & drank was top notch, and we left feeling like locals, having tried places we likely wouldn’t if we hadn’t done the tour. We definitely recommend it!!
We learned history of Porto as we walked. Introduced us to some of the best food and drinks. Anoldo was extremely knowledgeable and shared some very interesting stories. It was an extremely good time.
This is a must do, especially with Alfonso! As expected, the food was outstanding, the wine was a perfect match, the history of the food, the city, and even our Portuguese lessons along the way topped off the experience. Alfonso is so welcoming, so funny, and is and truly loved by all the places we visited. I couldn’t imagine this tour without him. We had a small group 9 people which truly made it more of an intimate experience. We even had people on our tour who were celiac (gluten-free), pescatarian, (no meat) and a child who was 10. Everyone had options, so don’t let excuses stop you from doing this! There was not a lot of walking and no hills.
Porto’s Iconic Landmarks
While the focus is on food, the tour also passes through notable spots like Liberdade Square, helping you connect the bites to Porto’s vibrant streets and architecture. It’s a nice touch that adds visual interest and helps you get a sense of the city’s layout.
Lunch and Wine Pairings
The day wraps up with a substantial local lunch at a bar or restaurant beloved by Porto residents. The dish? Something typically Portuguese, paired with drinks, including wine and even green wine, which many find quite enjoyable. Reviewers mention that the portion sizes are generous, and you won’t leave feeling hungry — in fact, many say they’re pleasantly full.
Excellent experience I must recommend this tour for any foodie. Our guide was very knowledgeable and considerate
excellent, Joao excellent guide; well worth the money, visited so many places & lots of tastings
Marta was absolutely brilliant! she was knowledgeable and very responsive. The food was more than we expected. The marketplace was so lively and fun to visit three different booths. only thing I would add is it would be nice to sit down during the time there. Loved the bifana and pastel de nata. Would definitely do it again.
The experience of eating in a local favorite adds a layer of authenticity that’s hard to find in more touristy setups.
