Wonderful day tour of the Douro Valley. Great wine tastings and beautiful scenery. The lunch was delicious 😋
Great trip and a fantastic way to see the Duoro valley and taste port and wines. The group started off quiet and Ricardo brought a lot of energy in his delivery of information and getting everyone involved. At the end of the day everyone was socialising and having fun. Our bus driver did a fantastic job with navigating tight streets and road twists and turns. Bus struggled a bit with hills at the end of the day, but got us there.
This is a perfect intro of the Douro Valley! It’s a beautiful must see location from Porto. Our guide Manuela was funny, kind and knowledgeable. It’s definitely worth the money. A few people did get quite nauseous on the way there and back, so I would recommend preparing plastic bags or nausea medicine. It is definitely worth it if you only have a short time in porto and can’t go stay in the Douro valley!
This tour suits travelers who love wine and scenic landscapes, are comfortable with a busy schedule, and appreciate expert guides who share insightful stories. It’s particularly good if you’re new to the Douro region or want a reliable way to see the best parts without the hassle of planning each step yourself.

Once you arrive at Peso da Régua, there’s a quick coffee break to stretch your legs and get ready for the day ahead.
Next, the real fun begins at the first winery, where you’ll have roughly an hour to explore the vineyards and learn about Port wine production. According to reviews, guides like Igor and Milena are particularly knowledgeable, making the visit engaging and informative. After the first wine stop, it’s time for a traditional Portuguese lunch. Typically, this is at a well-chosen local spot with a cozy setting. The menu usually includes meat, fish, or vegetarian options, and many appreciate the opportunity to taste authentic regional dishes paired with local wines. Some reviews mention that lunch is decent and served in a lovely setting, though it’s not necessarily a gourmet experience—more about enjoying good food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere.

My mother and I have a beautiful day trip to the Douro Valley. Our tour guide Pedro was very punctual, informative, and friendly. We enjoyed our wine tasting and learning about all the Douro Valley has to offer! I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Porto and wanting to learn about and explore the area. The weather was beautiful the whole day- which was a bonus!
We met at the meeting point, which luckily for us, was close to our hotel: it was easy to find. The coach was clean. The guide, Ricardo, was good fun and made a point of speaking to each person. His English was very good. The tours were good and the port wine lovely. The Douro Valley itself is beautiful. It’d be nice to see in Spring and Summer. Overall, the trip was well organised and we’d go again.
Ricardo was energetic and engaging as a tour guide. Rueben was a great driver who joined in the fun with Ricardo. Nice driving through the country and the tastings and the meal were good. The boat ride was interesting but there was no one giving information and we didn’t know what we were seeing or doing. But is was a good day out.
The River Cruise – A Serene Highlight
One of the best parts of the tour for many is the one-hour boat cruise along the Douro River. This is where you’ll really get to soak in the landscape—vineyards cascading down terraced hills, charming villages dotting the riverbanks, and the overall tranquility of this UNESCO-listed region. Reviewers frequently mention how relaxing and beautifully scenic this part of the day is.
The Final Stops and Return
The tour wraps up with a quick photo stop in Sabrosa, giving you a chance to capture some final views. Afterward, the bus heads back to Porto, with some routes offering drop-offs at multiple locations, including Igreja da Lapa and Gabinete do Munícipe. The ride home, often about an hour, is a good time to reflect on the day’s highlights.
