What really caught our eye? First, the personalized approach—you won’t be stuck with strangers, which means you can customize your stops and spend more time at places you’re most eager to see. Second, the luxury transport, including a premium-class car equipped with Wi-Fi and air conditioning, makes the entire day both relaxing and enjoyable.
Our tour was fantastic. The guide, Sergey, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience fun and memorable. We learned so much and saw some incredible sights. We highly recommend this tour.
Sergey was excellent. This tour did not disappoint. The falls are magnificent. Sergey was very helpful with the needs of my handicap husband- belong to get the walker/wheelchair out of the car constantly. The South coast tour is our favorite but this is a wonderful second! (The only drawback to this tour is that we had to pay an extra $200 to be picked up near the airport whereas our south coast tour was only $30 more for the tour and we did not have to pay the extra $200 to be picked up. We do understand the cost of a taxi, but it was difficult to pay the extra $200 when another tour company picked us up at the Airport Courtyard for a private South Coast tour and their tour as for a long…
The tour was very expensive and was not the experience we were looking for. We did see the sites and Simon was a nice person. When we got to the waterfalls he told me I shouldn’t go to the lower area to see the falls as my shoes and pants would get very wet and he didn’t want me to get sick. We did do the walk out (very glad We did) and did not wet at all. He told us there were no restaurants they were all booked and he couldn’t get any reservations. So our only option was to eat at Geysir Glinda at 11 am. The soup there was good but not a lunch experience. We felt like he did the tour but wanted to be done. We were back at our hotel in 5 hours. We were also told there would be a luxu…
On the flip side, the price point of around $457 per person isn’t exactly cheap, but given the private nature and quality of the vehicle, it can be worth it if comfort and flexibility matter to you.
One thing to consider: the tour does not include lunch, so you’ll need to bring cash or plan ahead for meals. But if you’re someone who values a private, personalized experience and wants to avoid the crowds, this tour could be a perfect choice. It’s especially suited for travelers who appreciate comfort, expert guidance, and the freedom to explore at their own pace.

The Itinerary: Highlights and Hidden Gems
The itinerary is packed with diverse sights, blending well-known attractions with lesser-visited treasures.
- Kerid Crater: A striking volcanic caldera filled with vivid blue-green water, surrounded by bold red volcanic rock. At about 6,500 years old, it’s a fantastic spot for photos and understanding Iceland’s volcanic past. Reviewers love how this stop feels like a geological postcard.
- Faxafoss Waterfall: Often overlooked but an absolute gem, Faxafoss is a wide, tranquil waterfall on the Tungufljót River. It’s a quieter spot, perfect for nature lovers and photographers seeking a less crowded alternative to Gullfoss. The 15-minute stop is ideal for a quick, peaceful break.
- Gullfoss Waterfall: The crowd favorite, Gullfoss is breathtaking, with two powerful cascades plunging into a rugged canyon. Its beauty varies with the seasons, and the sheer force is unforgettable. Expect plenty of photo opportunities, especially if you love dramatic scenery.
- Geysir Geothermal Area: Here, you’ll witness the famous geyser Geysir and the more frequent Strokkur erupting every few minutes—a dynamic spectacle. You also get time for a relaxed lunch break nearby, which is a thoughtful addition. Several guests mention enjoying the mix of natural wonder and food options.
- Efstidalur II Farm: A charming, family-run farm that offers a taste of rural Iceland. Known for its homemade ice cream and warm hospitality, it’s a delightful stop that adds a local flavor to your journey.
- Bruarfoss Waterfall: Often called Iceland’s “Bluest Waterfall,” Bruarfoss is a quieter, visually stunning spot with blue cascades. Its access involves a scenic hike, but the reward is a peaceful, colorful waterfall perfect for photographers.
- Þingvellir National Park: A UNESCO site and the historical birthplace of Icelandic democracy, Þingvellir is geologically significant, sitting in the Rift Valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Its rugged beauty is complemented by a rich history that appeals to those interested in Iceland’s culture.
Authentic User Experiences
Guests frequently praise the knowledge and friendliness of the guides, with some describing their driver as “an excellent guide,” “insightful,” and “professional.” The ability to customize the tour and avoid the typical crowds is a recurring theme. Reviewers also appreciate the flexibility of the stops, allowing them to focus more time on the places they loved most.
Our tour started with our guide unable to start his car because of a dead battery. So, we waited 1 hour for to him to get a replacement car, which was much less comfortable, and not a premium car. He did take us to all of the stops on the planned itinerary, all of which we enjoyed. He kept to the schedule we expected, including making time for lunch, at the hour we requested. He also provided an additional stop, to make amends for our initial inconvenience. Nevertheless, I think our guide became somewhat bored with the tour, as the day went on. He seemed gradually, less enthusiastic, and ready for the tour to end. Perhaps he was tired. I don’t know. When we arrived back at our hotel, he st…

The Practical Side: Cost, Duration, and What's Included
At around $457.41 per person, this tour sits at a premium price point. But when you factor in the private vehicle, entry fees to key sites, bottled water, Wi-Fi, parking, and facility fees, it offers a lot of value for those who prioritize comfort and a tailored experience.
The duration varies from 6 to 9 hours, depending on your pace and stops. This flexibility means you can spend more or less time at each site, making it ideal for travelers who dislike rushing.
The Not-So-Great: Things to Keep in Mind
While the tour covers many highlights, lunch is not included. Travelers should bring cash or plan to purchase food during the stop at Geysir. Also, since the tour is private, it tends to be booked well in advance—about 67 days on average—so planning ahead is wise.
Some reviews mention that the tour requires good weather, as outdoor stops are weather-dependent. If Iceland’s notorious weather turns sour, your guide might need to adjust plans or reschedule.
