Exploring Rhodes with local guide Mike was an unforgettable experience. Excellent tour with knowledgable, friendly local guides Dimitrius and Yonnis. They will customize the trip to your request. We did some shopping, city tour, knight museum and ended on the beach at a fabulous beach club and restaurant. Price for beach club was not included in the tour, but everything was affordable and worth every penny. Our guides prearranged everything and we were taken care of like royalty. This ended up being our favorite stop off the cruise ship so far. Plenty of photo opportunities. Highly recommend!!!

Vasili was a wonderful tour guide. It is obvious he loves his island! My husband uses a cane, and our adult son is on the autistic spectrum. Vasili was so accommodating. Everything worked out perfectly. He was waiting for us at the gangway, so we wouldn't have to walk too far. He got us close to everything we wanted to see. He also took us to a wonderful little restaurant where we enjoyed true Greek cuisine! Our day with Vasili was one of our top experiences during our trip!

The Itinerary: What’s Included and Why It Matters

Stop 1: Old Town of Rhodes

Kicking things off, the tour begins in the medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, entered through the historic D’Amboise Gate. Here, you get a true sense of the island’s past—imposing walls, narrow cobbled streets, and sights like the Palace of the Grand Master. The Knights of St. John left a lasting mark, and wandering through this area feels like stepping into a living history book.

Most reviews highlight how much our guide helped paint the picture: “Billy gave us a wonderful overview of Rhodes,” shared one traveler, emphasizing how the guide’s storytelling made the history come alive. The free entry is a bonus, so you can spend your time soaking in the atmosphere rather than worrying about tickets.

Stop 2: Rhodes Town and Mount Smith

Next, the route moves to the harbor at Mandraki, known for the story of the Colossus of Rhodes—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. While the actual statue no longer stands, the location still sparks imagination. From there, you’ll visit the Annunciation Church, an impressive sight with striking frescoes.

Afterward, ascend to Mount Smith for sweeping views of Rhodes, where the Acropolis ruins await. It’s a spot great for snapping photos and appreciating the island’s landscape. The free panoramic views here are often praised, with travelers noting the scenic beauty and the chance to pause and appreciate the surroundings.

Billy gave us a wonderful overview of Rhodes. We saw the site of the Collosus at the entrance to the port. We walked through the walled old town, saw the great views down to the beautiful beaches. When we asked for a lunch break Billy brought us to his small village for incredibly tasty Greek food. Gyros, souvlaki a Greek salad. Wonderful! Use this firm with confidence!

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour and our guide Billy was excellent! Very fun and knowledgeable of the area. Took us off the beaten path to the best sites and views of the island.

We loved Mike! Very nice and humorous man. He was willing and capabele to answer all our questions, which were a lot 😉 And he is a perfect storyteller, meanwhile showing us all the nice places of Rhodos.

Stop 3: Kallithea Springs

A highlight for many, the Kallithea Springs blend history with natural beauty. This seaside spa complex, built in the Art Deco style, has a history dating back to antiquity. Today, it’s a popular spot for snorkeling and swimming, thanks to its vibrant underwater life. Even if you don’t dive in, the gardens and architecture are worth a stroll.

One reviewer remarked, “Yannis made our day,” reflecting how guides often enhance the experience with personal touches like arranging fresh fish lunches or sharing insider tips. Keep in mind that admission tickets are not included, so plan for a small extra if you want to explore the springs more thoroughly.

Stop 4: Faliraki

Known as Rhodes’ party hub, Faliraki offers a lively contrast to the historic sites, with a long stretch of white sand beaches. It’s a place to relax, soak up the sun, or stroll along the promenade. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the area is filled with resorts and beach clubs.

Many reviews mention how flexible guides are here—some might choose to relax on the beach or explore nearby shops. It’s a perfect stop if you want a taste of the island’s modern, lively side.

Yannis made our day. Nice Clean AC Mercedes van. This truly was what we were looking for. He took us to the top sites in Rhodes. Then drive us to nice Afontou beach with free chairs. He arranged a fresh cooked fish lunch from the beautiful restaurant across the street. We picked out the grouper which the restaurant has spear fisherman bring in fresh daily. AVANTIS i believe is the name of the restaurant. It was one of the best meals we had. Yannis was very knowledgeable of the Island and we had a fantastic day.

With several young kids in tow, a private tour was much easier and more pleasant than trying to keep up with a big excursion tour group. Communication with the tour operator was easy, our driver was awesome. Would highly recommend!

We had a fantastic day! Yanis was our guide. He was on time with a beautiful clean Mercedes sprinter Van for the 8 of us. We were comfortable and he was a safe and great driver. He shared with us historical sites as he drove around and would stop at key places for us to take pictures of the high points overlooking the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. We had a great day! Thank you so much. We loved Rhodes. A beautiful island to see. Some nice shops to find that perfect shirt or souvenir as well!!

Cost at around $86 per person reflects good value for a private tour. With most reviews praising the guides’ knowledge and the relaxed pace, you’re paying for quality, personalized service that makes navigating Rhodes easy and enjoyable.

Food and drinks aren’t included, but guides often suggest local spots, and bottled water is provided. It’s a good idea to bring some snacks or plan a lunch break at your own pace during the day.

What Travelers Say

The consistent theme in reviews? Knowledgeable guides and scenic stops make the day memorable. Many mention how guides go off-route to show hidden gems, and the comfort of a private vehicle makes the experience all the more pleasant.

Some highlights include the beautiful beaches—like Afantou—and the informative storytelling that makes history accessible and interesting. The flexibility in timing and stops is highly appreciated, especially by those traveling with kids or wanting a more relaxed day.

Drawbacks and Considerations

While most reviews are glowing, it's worth noting that lunch isn’t included, so you’ll need to plan for that. Also, during peak season, the tour might swap some locations for the best experience (like at Anthony Quinn Bay), so don’t expect the exact same itinerary every time.

The tour isn’t a full-day adventure, so if you’re eager to see every corner of Rhodes or dive into long cultural visits, this might feel a bit limited. But for those wanting a relaxed overview with the flexibility to focus on their interests, it’s a great choice.
