4.5(568 reviews)From $95.53 per person

After reviewing hundreds of traveler accounts for this sailing catamaran experience around Santorini, we’ve found ourselves genuinely impressed by what this tour delivers. For under $100 per person, you’re getting a full day of water-based exploration that hits all the visual highlights of the island—volcanic formations, crystalline swimming spots, and dramatic coastal cliffs—plus a generous BBQ lunch and unlimited wine thrown in. The consistently strong feedback about the crew’s friendliness and the quality of the food suggests this isn’t just a box-checking tourist experience.

That said, there are some legitimate trade-offs worth understanding upfront. The boat spends a significant portion of the five hours actually sailing rather than swimming, which means you’ll want to be comfortable on the water. The group size can occasionally feel crowded, and narration about the landmarks isn’t always as detailed as some travelers might hope for. This tour works best for people who want to see Santorini from a completely different perspective—the water-based view—and who don’t mind a leisurely pace with plenty of time to relax, swim, and eat well.

What You’re Actually Getting for the Price

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - What Youre Actually Getting for the Price

At $95.53 per person, this tour includes round-trip hotel transfers from anywhere in Santorini, a full barbecue lunch served onboard, unlimited Santorinian wine and soft drinks throughout the day, snorkeling equipment, and safety gear. That’s a genuinely solid package. The transfers alone save you the hassle of navigating Santorini’s narrow, winding roads to reach the port, and the pickup service means no stress about timing or transportation logistics.

The tour was amazing. My family of 6 had an awesome time. The customer service was 10/10. The food was so good we all got seconds. Must book this excursion it’s worth every penny.

Overall fun day. Boat was nice and staff was good. Food excellent and plenty to go around. Only negatives not enough time at each place and they dont narrate the landmarks as you pass by. Most of the day is spent on the boat (and it can be bumpy) instead of doing things. So if you dont want to spend half the day + on the boat skip this tour

Best part of our trip!!!! Food was great. Staff was wonderful and views were amazing. Would do again.

The wine selection deserves special mention because it’s not just “free wine”—it’s actually a curated selection of local Santorinian varieties, particularly the white wine Nychteri, which is grown in the island’s volcanic soil and has a distinctive mineral character. One reviewer noted they had “plenty” of wine available throughout the day, and another mentioned the “unlimited drinks” positively boosted their experience. For a daytime cruise, having quality local wine available without worrying about costs adds a nice layer of authenticity and relaxation.

The food component genuinely impressed travelers across the board. Multiple reviewers specifically praised the quality and variety of the barbecue, with one family saying “the food was so good we all got seconds.” The menu offers fish, chicken, pork, and vegetarian options, with thoughtful accommodations like gluten-free pasta and ingredient identification for dietary concerns. The crew actually cooks on board, which means everything arrives hot and fresh rather than pre-prepared.

The Itinerary: Five Hours on the Water

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - The Itinerary: Five Hours on the Water

Your day starts early with a 9:30 AM departure, though you’ll need to allow time for hotel pickup beforehand—expect that to happen roughly 45 minutes before departure time depending on where you’re staying in Santorini. The operator will confirm your specific pickup time the day before your tour.

The boat departs from either Ammoudi or Athinios port and immediately heads out along the island’s west coast. You’ll sail past the volcano itself and the island of Palea Kameni, giving you views of the dramatic caldera formation that makes Santorini so visually distinctive. The sailing portion takes you through waters surrounded by the island’s iconic steep cliffs and volcanic landscape.

Your first swimming stop comes at the Hot Springs area, where you’ll have about 30 minutes to get in the water. Here’s what matters: the catamaran stays about 50 meters away from the yellowish-colored hot spring waters, and you’ll swim in the clearer water nearby. The hot springs are warmer than the surrounding Aegean—up to 4 degrees Celsius warmer—which makes for a genuinely pleasant first swim, especially in cooler months. It’s a unique experience you simply can’t get on land, and it’s the kind of thing that makes this tour special. The ancient lighthouse is visible from the water at this stop as well.

The second stop is Red Beach, where you’ll have another 30 minutes for swimming and snorkeling. Red Beach gets its name from the distinctive reddish volcanic rock formations that characterize the shoreline. The water here is exceptionally clear for snorkeling, and the underwater visibility is typically excellent. You’ll have snorkeling equipment provided, so you don’t need to bring your own (though experienced snorkelers might prefer their own gear).

We were unable to get to the meeeting place. And they graciously allowed us to join the next available boat. They were so accommodating and we so grateful! Boat crew were wonderful, upbeat and fun! Highly recommend!!

This was a simple but enjoyable daytime cruise around Santorini which was about 4.5 hours. The pick up location was changed via email in advance so check your messages- this was due to the small streets and lack of access. Plan on the pick up being 45 minutes before your cruise time, depending on where you are staying. We cruised to the sulfur springs (not actually hot), Palia Kameni and Nea Kameni, over to the red beach and the white beach. Swimming at all locations. Towels provided. BBQ at the white beach which included options of fish, chicken, pork and vegetarian options. Plus a small buffet of items that were quite delicious. They offered gf pasta as a side for those with gluten issues…

Such a fabulous day out, everything was seamless and so relaxing. Great staff, easy return transfers, delicious food and great communication throughout. Definitely recommend for a lovely cruising day on the sea with a few stops for swimming 🙂

Your final stop is White Beach, where you'll spend the longest time—about an hour and a half. This is where the BBQ lunch gets served on board, and you'll have ample opportunity for more swimming and snorkeling before eating. The extended time at this location gives you a real sense of lingering rather than rushing through. You can alternate between water time and lunch, eating whenever you feel like it rather than being tied to a rigid schedule.

After the final stop, you sail back to port and return to your hotel, with the full experience wrapping up in approximately five hours from departure.

The Boat and Onboard Experience

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - The Boat and Onboard Experience

The catamaran itself is described consistently as clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. You'll find multiple seating areas—an interior section with picnic-style seating, a back deck area, and outdoor seating up front near the captain. There's a designated change area and separate restrooms for men and women, which matters when you're spending five hours on the water and swimming multiple times.

The crew provides a safety briefing at the beginning and remains available throughout the day. Multiple reviewers noted that staff members were attentive, checking in regularly, and responsive to questions. The atmosphere tends toward the social and upbeat—you'll find music playing, and the crew seems genuinely interested in making sure passengers are comfortable and enjoying themselves.

One practical note: towels aren't included, so bring your own or plan to air dry. You'll also want to remove your shoes before boarding. The operator provides blankets that you'll need to return to the crew, which is helpful if the wind picks up or you want to dry off between swims.

What the Reviews Really Tell Us

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - What the Reviews Really Tell Us

With 568 reviews and a 4.6 rating overall, this tour has statistically strong feedback. Breaking down the numbers: roughly 78% of reviewers gave it five stars, 11% gave four stars, 6% gave three stars, and smaller percentages gave lower ratings. That distribution suggests most people genuinely enjoyed themselves, though a meaningful minority had reservations worth considering.

The most consistent praise centers on three things: the crew's friendliness and attentiveness, the quality and generosity of the food, and the spectacular views. One reviewer called it their "favorite thing we did in Santorini," and another said it was "the best of our trip." The crew gets mentioned repeatedly—"amazing," "wonderful," "so attentive and kind"—suggesting this isn't just competent service but genuinely warm hospitality.

However, some reviewers noted specific concerns. A few mentioned that narration about the landmarks and history could be more detailed, so if you're someone who wants extensive educational context, this might not fully deliver. One reviewer felt there wasn't enough time at each location, though another reviewer felt the time allocation was fine. The boat can get bumpy in rougher seas, which one reviewer noted explicitly—so if you're prone to seasickness, this matters. Another traveler wished they'd known to bring a sweatshirt, as the wind and spray can make it cooler than you'd expect.

The group size occasionally came up in reviews. While the maximum capacity is 55 passengers, one reviewer counted 60 on their boat and felt crowded, while another reviewer mentioned not being able to use the top deck because it "wasn't ready yet." These appear to be outliers rather than the norm, but they're worth knowing about.

Practical Considerations Before You Book

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - Practical Considerations Before You Book

Timing and Seasons: The tour runs daily, which is convenient, but weather impacts operations. If conditions are poor, you'll either be rescheduled or receive a full refund. April water temperatures are notably cold (one reviewer mentioned this), so if you're visiting in shoulder season, the hot springs become even more appealing.

Cancellation: You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund, which gives you flexibility. Changes made less than 24 hours out won't be accepted, so plan accordingly.

Group Dynamics: You'll be sharing the experience with up to 55 other people. If you prefer smaller, more intimate group experiences, this might feel large. However, the catamaran setup means you're not confined to a single area—you can find quieter spots if you want them.

Swimming Ability: While floating devices are provided (described as pool noodles by one reviewer), the tour involves multiple swimming stops in the open sea. If you're not a confident swimmer, this tour might be challenging. The crew is safety-conscious, but you should be honest about your abilities.

What to Bring: Pack a towel (not provided), sunscreen, and a sweatshirt or light layer. Wear shoes that are easy to remove. If you prefer your own snorkeling gear, bring it.

Who Should Book This Tour

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - Who Should Book This Tour

This experience works brilliantly for several types of travelers. If you want to see Santorini's most iconic features—the volcano, the caldera, the dramatic coastline—but want to see them from the water rather than from crowded clifftop viewpoints, this delivers exactly that. If you value food and wine and appreciate the idea of quality local wine and fresh-cooked lunch as part of your experience, you'll find genuine satisfaction here.

Families with older children and teenagers tend to love this tour based on the reviews—the swimming stops appeal to kids, the food is generally crowd-pleasing, and the crew seems patient and accommodating. Couples looking for a relaxed day out on the water without heavy physical activity will find this suits them well. Groups of friends who want to do something together that doesn't require extensive planning or navigation will appreciate the hotel pickup and straightforward itinerary.

It's less ideal for people who want extensive historical narration and educational depth, those prone to seasickness, or anyone who prefers to maximize time actually doing activities rather than traveling to reach them.

The Value Proposition

Sailing Catamaran Cruise in Santorini with BBQ, Drinks and Transfer - The Value Proposition

Comparing this to alternatives: a private boat rental would cost significantly more. A smaller group tour might cost slightly less but would lack the included lunch and transfers. A land-based tour of Santorini wouldn't get you to the hot springs or these particular beaches at all. For the price, the combination of transfers, food, drinks, swimming opportunities, and crew service represents genuine value.

This catamaran cruise delivers what it promises: a full day experiencing Santorini from the water, with excellent food, local wine, and multiple opportunities to swim in stunning locations. The crew consistently impresses travelers with their friendliness and attentiveness, and the price-to-experience ratio is genuinely hard to beat. Book this if you want a relaxed day that hits the visual highlights of the island, enjoy good food and wine, and don't mind sharing the experience with other travelers. It's the kind of tour that becomes a favorite memory of a Santorini trip.
