Really cool experience with an incredibly knowledgeable and personable guide. We learned a lot more than just touring the cathedral on our own, and we enjoyed it greatly!

Meeting up was difficult as no specific place mentioned other than Plaza. However once we met CARMEN everything went so smoothly. She was bubbly, very knowledgeable and made sure everyone in the group was included. Efficient throughout, we glided to all parts of the cathedral. Carmen being an historian gave us many interesting facts & stories that made the whole tour worthwhile. She was AMAZING!

Overall, if you’re looking for a deep dive into Seville’s most famous monument with a friendly guide, this one’s a strong pick.

This experience suits travelers who appreciate a blend of culture, history, and architecture, and who prefer a more intimate setting rather than large, crowded tours. We should mention that Carlos was an exceptional tour guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm were inspiring and his sense of humour was second to none. He brought the cathedral alive, very approachable, professional and fun. Felt a little educated but most importantly, we felt welcome.

Your guide will lead you through some of its most important areas, including the main altar, the choir, and the baptism chapel. You’ll also get a closer look at Christopher Columbus’ tomb, which is one of the cathedral’s most visited spots.

Many reviews highlight how much more visitors get out of the visit with a guide. As one reviewer said, “Valentín was so cheerful and knowledgeable—absolutely the best way to appreciate the cathedral.” The guides are praised for their enthusiasm and ability to make history engaging, which turns a potentially overwhelming space into a fascinating story.

Expect to hear about how this Gothic masterpiece was built in the 1400s and how it reflects the various cultures that shaped Seville.

The ascent is manageable, and the tower’s ramped stairs are quite accessible, making it a comfortable climb for most visitors.

Many travelers have raved about what they saw from the top. One reviewer, who had visited the cathedral before, said, “We got so much more out of it with Valentin as our guide—I loved the views from above.” The tower’s history as a mosque’s minaret adds an extra layer of significance, connecting the city’s Islamic past with its Christian present.

This was an excellent tour. Miguel was very knowledgeable and told us everything in a clear and humorous way. Just one thing to beware is that the Giralda tower climb comes immediately after the cathedral tour. We really could have done with a 10 minute sit down first before tackling the tower but it wasn’t too bad a climb.
Annabel B
Carlos was amazing! He took his time to get to know us and explain all of the hidden treasures of the cathedral. He is a master storyteller and you can tell he is passionate about what he does.
Rose K
We were so impressed with Marta and her knowledge and anecdotes related to the things we were seeing within the Cathedral and Tower. You could tell she was passionate about what she does and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her guided tour so that you can more appreciate what you are looking at and the history and stories behind it.

The small-group setting—capped at 10 travelers—also creates a more relaxed and flexible experience. You’ll have ample opportunity to ask questions and explore areas of interest more thoroughly than on larger tours. Many reviews praise the guides’ storytelling and ability to make the vast space feel personal.

Practical Considerations and Tips

Keep in mind that the tour lasts about two hours, so it’s best suited for those who can comfortably walk and stand for that duration. As it visits a place of worship, dress modestly—no sleeveless tops, mini skirts, or shorts, in keeping with the cathedral’s dress code. Also, make sure to bring your ID, as the cathedral may deny access without it.

Since the tour is booked around 15 days in advance on average, it’s wise to reserve early, especially in high season. If you’re particularly interested in the tower views or detailed art explanations, this tour hits those marks well.

Diane K
Carmen Maria did an excellent job guiding us through the many areas of the cathedral and told us a lot of interesting true stories and facts that we probably wouldn’t have known or found out about otherwise. I very highly recommend her and the small group tour.
Michael S
Carlos, our tour guide, was outstanding. Very energetic and knowledgeable about all things Sevilla, including the Cathedral. It’s a 2-hour tour but if you want to shorten it, he could accommodate my teenage daughter’s short attention span on history (not tic toc apparently). We learned much about the history of the city and region (religion, art and architecture) and important figures, including about the burial and remains of Christopher Columbus – all from a super individual. We highly recommend the tour of the Cathedral and the climb to the top of the tower.
Mirella S
The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We learned a lot unknown facts. Recommended. Easy to find meeting point and well organized.

If you’re traveling with a partner or friends and enjoy in-depth explanations, this tour will give you a much richer understanding than simply walking through alone. But if you’re in a hurry or on a very tight schedule, you might find two hours is enough to get a good overview without feeling rushed.
