The tour we had far exceeded our expectations. To start we were coming from a cruise port on an excursion bus withh only guestimated arrival and departure times. The company did its best to accommodate this ahead of time. Bilal met us on time and gave us a one hour tour of the garden and one hour tour of the palaces. His knowledge of the Islamic calligraphy and architecture was amazing. We left the tour wishing only for more time. Bilal then walked us to a cab area and helped us secure a taxi back to our bus. The kindness and availability of this company was only exceeded by the information from Bilal

Our guide, Sherif Mahmoud, was excellent! He knew everything about the history of the place and was able translate Arabic texts to us. He also took very good care of the group and was kind and attentive. I could not have wished anything more.

A fantastic experience with great local knowledge from the guide, Tarek. Tarek met us promptly at the meeting place that was communicated to us the day before. After an explanation about some of the history and the timings of the building of Alhambra we were taken around the Generalife. The local knowledge of Tarek was just as good as the outstanding views of the city. After some time exploring the summer palace we came back and in to the medina. We stopped at key places for explanations about the complex. Again the experience of having a local guide who really knew about the history of the Alhambra was very much worth it. After a short break the nasrid palaces tour took place. Again having …

Plus, the fact that tickets for the Nasrid Palaces and Generalife are included is a big plus—who wants to risk sold-out tickets or long lines? However, it’s worth noting that the price point is on the higher side, especially since the total cost includes guided service, tickets, and equipment like radio guides for larger groups.

This tour is best suited for travelers who appreciate guides and are willing to pay a little extra for a streamlined, immersive visit. If you’re after a comprehensive, well-organized experience with some flexibility in your schedule, it could be a great fit. For those who want to absorb the history and beauty of the Alhambra at a relaxed pace, this tour has a lot to offer.

Sherif was so knowledgeable and his passion and expertise made the tour so much fun! Highly recommend! Plus he is an amazing photographer.

Amazing, informative trip to the Alhambra. Our guide Bilal was so knowledgeable and genuinely interested.

Sherif has a special background that brought the Arabic text on the walls to life in a way I don't think other tour guides could match. He was able to read, translate, and the explain their significance along with how they fit into the patterns of Muslim architecture. It was fascinating!

On the flip side, tips are not included—a common practice but still worth keeping in mind when budgeting. Also, the tour is non-refundable, so if plans change, you’ll need to be sure before booking.

The Itinerary: What to Expect

Small group visit to the Alhambra with tickets included - The Itinerary: What to Expect

Stop 1: Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife

Your journey begins at the summer palace of the Nasrid sultans, which is notably the oldest garden palace in Europe. Here, your guide will explain the irrigation systems used in the orchards and gardens, giving you a peek into the sophisticated engineering of medieval Granada.

Travelers often mention how this part sets the tone for the entire visit, offering both scenic beauty and historical context. Expect to spend about an hour here—enough time to appreciate the lush surroundings and learn about the clever water systems that kept the gardens thriving.

Stop 2: Nasrid Palaces

This is the main event—the heart of the Alhambra. The guide will walk you through the Mexuar, the Comares Palace, and the Palace of the Lions. Each housed different functions, from administrative to private royal living quarters.

Having a private tour cost more but well worth it given the access we had with our guide and the personal service. Tarek was our guide and he is Egyptian that has lived in Granada for almost 50 years and has a History degree and knowledge that surpasses anyone we could have had. Tarek is an excellent communicator and presenter with deep knowledge that gave us such insight into the Alhambra Medina and surrounding Garden of Generlife and the Nasrid Palaces developed by the Moors before the Christian took it over. He also has command of Arab language so much of the motifs in the walls he could interpret for us.

Absolutely phenomenal! Our tour guide, Sherif, brought the Alhambra to life with captivating stories, fascinating historical insights, and a contagious passion for the architecture. His knowledge was impressive, his humor perfectly timed, and he made every part of the tour feel like a step back in time. Easily one of the best tour experiences I've ever had! 10 stars for Sherif

We had an incredible tour of the Alhambra with our guide, Sherif. He was fantastic—super knowledgeable, engaging, and brought so much history to life. His ability to read and speak Arabic added a really unique and valuable layer to the experience, especially when explaining the many Arabic inscriptions and designs throughout the city. Highly recommend touring with him!

Reviews highlight that guides like Sherif and Bilal do a fantastic job of making these spaces come alive with storytelling. One mentioned that Sherif’s Arabic translations added a real sense of authenticity, making the history more meaningful. Another reviewer noted that their guide’s knowledge turned the visit into an educational experience, not just a sightseeing tour.

You’ll learn how each palace served a specific purpose: the Mexuar for meetings, the Comares Palace for diplomatic receptions, and the Lions Palace as the ruler’s private domain. Expect to spend around an hour exploring these stunning structures, their intricate carvings, and lush courtyards.

The Value of a Guided Tour

Many reviews emphasize the value of having an expert guide by your side. Sherif, who is working on his doctorate, and Bilal, also highly praised, clearly bring a deep knowledge and passion that elevates the visit. They’re skilled at reading the walls’ inscriptions, many of which are poems telling stories of the palace’s history, adding a layer of richness that you might miss on your own.

One review mentions how Sherif’s Arabic translations made the experience more impactful, especially if you have some familiarity with the language or want a more authentic perspective. Several travelers appreciated the pacing of the tour, which allowed enough time to absorb the sights without feeling rushed.

Sherif was an expert on Alhambra! Our tour was in English, however, his Arabic translations made the story behind Alhambra more impactful. We have traveled the world and put Sherif’s tour at the top of our list!
Yvonne K
The Alhambra is beautiful series of palaces and gardens. Sherif was an excellent guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Alhambra, Grenada and the Andalusian region. Sherif was engaging and entertaining when discussing the palace. We were very grateful for all the insight he gave us. His tour made our visit so much better. We also appreciated the small group size (we were just 4 people).
Rasha J
This is a must do tour especially if you are lucky enough to have Sharif as your tour guide. He was very knowledgeable in everything Alhambra. He took his time and we left highly satisfied. Thank you Sharif!

I had a great experience on a private tour with Sharif. Perfect pacing and very informative explanations, and he has a great eye for where to take the best photos! He is working on a PhD on the history of the Alhambra so he is a serious expert on the topic, but he explained it in a very accessible way. One point to note is that the actual timing for the Palaces visit is confirmed after midnight on the day of the tour, so it's good to maintain a flexible schedule for the day.
Irena M
It's good to book early since tickets to the castle sell out quickly. A tour guide is great since there is so much to learn about the history. Sherif was responsive even when we booked the night before the tour. He was an outstanding tour guide with a deep love and understanding of the history and cultures of the times. This tour will remain as the highlight of our trip to Granada. Thank you Sherif!!

Abdel studied the history of Andalucia and was naturally very knowledgeable about Granada and Alhambra.

Many reviewers feel the tour is worth the price because of the expert knowledge, skip-the-line tickets, and personalized experience. However, some note that the total cost is high compared to general entry—so if you're on a tight budget, it might be worth comparing with other options.

Remember, the platform’s service fee also adds up, and guides spend a lot of effort securing tickets, which justifies the premium.
