Had the best guided day tour with Tibor driving our small group around. The tour itself was lovely and had lots of different experiences and photo opportunities. The time spent in and out of the bus was nicely balanced and our guide took every opportunity to give us advice and knowledge on every aspect of Slovenian life. Tibor, our guide, was a lovely and friendly person and a clear advocate for his country which he was obviously very proud of. Would definitely use this company again and recommend it to friends.

This was the most amazing tour! Igor, our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. My daughter and I did the tour and were joined by three other guests. By the end of day it felt like all six of us were lifelong friends! Igor took us to some of the most beautiful lakes and waterfalls we had ever seen. We all had lunch in a traditional Slovenian restaurant in a mountain village, it was just perfect all round. I cannot recommend this tour enough. The weather was perfect- cold crisp January day. The price was great and worth every penny. Slovenia is a stunningly beautiful country and if we had not done this tour, we would never have experienced its rugged beauty. Nature at its abs…

I booked this trip on a whim the day before and did not regret it one bit! In winter, this trip felt like a secret adventure as I went with a small group with our guide Ziga, who was fantastic in showing us around the soca valley. The scenery was magnificent and the places were quieter on a weekday. It was great because it did not feel at all commercialised and overcrowded. Overall, highly recommended.

On the flip side, you should be aware that this is a long day of travel—roughly 10 hours—and it involves quite a bit of driving, which might not suit everyone, especially those sensitive to long bus rides.

This tour is a solid choice for nature lovers, photography fans, and anyone wanting a broad but manageable taste of Slovenia’s mountain scenery. It’s especially fitting for travelers who appreciate guided comfort, want to skip the self-drive hassle, and enjoy meaningful stops rather than just a quick look-and-go approach.

The entrance fee is included, so you won’t need to worry about extra costs. The waterfall flows into a crystal-clear pool, perfect for photos or just soaking in the natural beauty. Several reviewers highlight how stunning and photogenic this stop is, with one even mentioning that it’s “difficult to get to on your own,” making the organized trip particularly valuable.

Boka Waterfall (10-minute stop)

Next, you’ll pause at Slovenia’s highest waterfall, Boka Waterfall. It’s a quick stop, but the roar of the water and the sheer height (about 350 feet) make it a memorable sight. It’s a straightforward photo stop, free of charge, and offers a great snapshot of Slovenia’s powerful natural forces.

Soca River & Great Soca Gorge (45 minutes)

The Soca River is what the region is famous for, and this part of the tour gives you a chance to soak in its roaring waters and lush surroundings. A must-do for when in Slovenia. Very kind, funny, and knowledgeable guide, and the places you’ll see are indescribably beautiful.

Beautiful scenery with a lovely walk to the waterfall. George was an excellent guide giving just the right amount of time at the stops. The only downside of going on the tour in November and on a Sunday was the lack of toilet facilities at some stops but it didn’t detract from our day out

We really love this experience, the scenery was exceptional and the service of our guide Tibor was beyond expectation, he really looked after well and patiently explained a lot of culture and history of Slovenia the county he loves so much. We have no hesitation to recommend this tour. Thank you Tibor!

Vrsic Pass (15 minutes)

The Vrsic Pass, known as the highest Slovenian mountain pass, is a highlight of the journey. The views from here are spectacular—imagine winding roads carved into steep cliffs, with the Julian Alps stretching around you. Even in just 15 minutes, you get a taste of Slovenia’s alpine majesty. Tourists often comment on how this spot feels like a true mountain adventure and a perfect place for a quick photo.

Lake Jasna (30 minutes)

A short walk at Lake Jasna transports you into a postcard-perfect setting. With its striking blue waters and mountain backdrop, it’s one of the most scenic spots in the Slovenian Alps. Reviewers love this stop, mentioning how it offers “one of the most scenic views,” and many take the opportunity to capture memorable photos or simply enjoy the tranquility.

Kranjska Gora Village (1 hour)

Finally, you arrive in Kranjska Gora, a charming alpine town. The village is picturesque, with traditional architecture and a cozy mountain vibe. You’ll have enough time to wander, enjoy a snack, or take some photos before heading back. Several travelers highlight how this stop is a perfect way to soak in local mountain culture, with one reviewer calling it “scenic” and “breathtaking.”

The Practical Side: What to Expect and Consider

The tour offers round-trip transportation from several Ljubljana pickup points, making it quite convenient. The vehicle is typically small, with a maximum of 8-9 passengers, which enhances comfort and gives the guide room to accommodate everyone comfortably. The full-day duration is approximately 10 hours, so be prepared for a fair amount of sitting and some early morning wake-up calls (start time is 8:00 am).

You’re supplied with an English-speaking guide, whose role is crucial since they provide the background stories, history, and tips that make each stop come alive. We’ve seen reviews praising guides like Ana, Luca, and Vasja—each of whom brings passion and knowledge to their storytelling.

The tour includes transportation, sightseeing, and entrance tickets to Kozjak Waterfalls. If the waterfall is closed for any reason, you’ll get a different cultural experience with a visit to the Kobarid WWI museum—a good backup, but it does change the scenery a bit. Food and drinks, however, are not included, so plan to bring snacks or plan for lunch at your own expense, especially in Kranjska Gora.

The Long Ride

One thing to keep in mind is the amount of driving involved. While the scenery makes the journey enjoyable for many, others might find it tiring if they prefer more active or less time in transit. Several reviews mention the long drive but also agree it’s “worth it” thanks to the stops and views.

Weather and Flexibility

The tour is dependent on good weather; if the forecast calls for rain or storms, the provider may cancel or reschedule. In case of cancellation, you’ll get a full refund or an alternative date. It’s wise to check the forecast and dress accordingly, especially if you plan to walk or hike at any stops.

A few even suggested that bringing swimwear for a quick dip at the last lake could be a nice addition, though swimming isn’t officially part of the itinerary.
