If you’re dreaming of a night under the stars in Tenerife, you’ll find that this Guided Large Telescope Stargazing Tour offers an exceptional way to connect with the cosmos. While we haven’t personally been on this tour, plenty of travelers have praised it for its stunning views and expert guidance, making it one of the top-rated experiences in the Canary Islands.

What really catches our eye is the use of the biggest private telescope in Tenerife—a 32-inch, computerized marvel that promises views so sharp and bright, they’re hard to believe. Plus, the chance to get photos with a cooled astro-camera adds a cool twist that many wouldn’t want to miss. One thing to keep in mind is the need to dress warmly, as the mountain gets quite chilly at night.

This experience suits those who love astronomy, want to learn more about the universe, or simply enjoy awe-inspiring night skies away from light pollution.

Alessandro was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He gave a good introduction and overview of his presentation about the chronology etc of the origins of the universe. Would thoroughly recommend if it’s your thing, but if you have others in your group that are not so interested (my wife) you may prefer a more compressed tour. Picture at the end is great & looks really cool – even to my kids! Definitely inspired me to do more with my telescope at home. Thank you.

We recommend this tour of the universe wholeheartedly! It was an amazing, unforgettable and one-of-a-kind experience! Alessandro brought the universe closer to us and wonderfully combined passing knowledge to the beginners with elements of advanced astrophysics which were much appreciated by amateur astronomers in our small group. Every partcipant could benefit from his explanations, which he delivered with so much passion for stargazing and astrophotography that it was contagious :)) Alessandro, we can’tvthank you enough and are looking forward to coming back at a different time of the year to see more!!

The tour was absolutely amazing. Alessandro is very knowledgable, and his passion for astronomy is contagious. His explanations were very good, he made sure we understand what we're looking at.

For families or travelers with very young children, note that the tour isn’t suitable for kids under 5. But for anyone keen on seeing planets, galaxies, and nebulae through a impressive setup, this tour hits all the right notes. It’s a mix of education, stunning visuals, and personal attention—a rare combo that makes it stand out.

It was amazing, Alessandro and Antonella, are true accredited enthusiasts who pass on their knowledge! I recommend it to everyone 🙂
Elisabeth
Alessandro is a great guide – totally in his element, very friendly, helpful, and entertaining. We had a fantastic time and learned many exciting things, which we were able to observe through the gigantic telescope.
Rachel
Alessandro was an excellent guide and his passion for astronomy is clear. We didn't manage to see everything he wanted to show us as unexpected strong winds forced us to stop using the telescope, but he gave us the choice to carry on or not – we all chose to stay and Alessandro showed us his amazing photos and then pointed out constellations and other objects visible with the naked eye. Still an incredible experience and well worth doing.

Over the three hours, you’ll get a close-up look at some incredible celestial objects. Guests have reported seeing planets like Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter, along with stunning galaxies and nebulae. The large, super-sharp telescope reveals details that often get missed in smaller setups.

One review mentioned, “The view through the large telescope is even for experienced astrophotographers impressive,” highlighting just how powerful this equipment is.

Another highlight is the live stacking technique using the cooled astro-camera, which allows for stunning images in just minutes. Many guests have raved about how these photos turn out, often comparing them to professional astrophotography. Seeing the universe in high resolution, with vibrant colors and fine details, is a memorable experience.

The Guide’s Role: Education and Enthusiasm

You’ll find that the guide—Alessandro, based on reviews—is passionate and very knowledgeable, able to explain the universe in a way that’s easy to understand.

Alessandro is very professional, and thoughtful. Thank you for the warm tea☕️! We took a knowledgeable and immersive stargazing tour. It was truly memorable. We viewed nebulas & galaxies which were visible this season, in November 2025. And Saturn🪐, along with its four major “moons”! The image above was a long exposure photo, with our eyes focusing on the camera for about 15 seconds. My eyes were too sour to be in tears. Unsurprisingly, our faces turned out to be predictable and unavoidable blurred, with big smiles on 🌚🌝.
Michael
Thanks, the tour was great! The location, tourguide , telescope and views have been phenomenal. The guide Alessandro is very passionated and gives very good explainations about the various deep-sky objects. These are selected in a way that these can be well seen also by the astronomically untrained eye. Still this huge telescope reveals more details than smaller telescopes can. Due to the limited group size everyone has enough time at the eyepiece to really see the objects.
Elisa
If you want to look at the stars at Teide, do it with this tour! 100% recommend 🙂

One reviewer said, “Alessandro did a great job explaining the universe, his telescope is unique, and we observed Mars, galaxies, and nebulae.” His enthusiasm is contagious, and many reviews mention how he makes the session both educational and fun.

Guests frequently describe Alessandro as friendly, patient, and full of interesting facts. He even brings along tea, cookies, and jackets, which adds a welcoming touch to the chilly night. This attention to detail helps make the experience not just about looking at stars but about feeling comfortable and engaged.

The Viewing Conditions

The chosen meeting point depends on wind conditions, as the telescope is over two meters high. The activity provider sends GPS coordinates to ensure you gather at the optimal spot with the least amount of turbulence. This flexibility is crucial for a smooth experience and optimal views.

Weather can always be a factor—if clouds or high winds hinder the visibility, the tour can be postponed or refunded. This adaptability shows a real commitment to quality rather than just pushing through regardless of conditions.

The sightseeing experience was great, and we learned a lot. It would have been even better if there had been fewer people in the group.
