If you’re headed to Tenerife and love the idea of catching a breathtaking sunset followed by an awe-inspiring night of stargazing, this Mount Teide Sunset and Night Tour might just be on your radar. It promises a combination of natural beauty, expert guidance, and the chance to see the stars away from city lights.
While we haven’t done it ourselves, reading through countless reviews and the detailed itinerary, it’s clear that this experience has a lot to offer.
Two things that really stand out are the expert guides—some are astrophysicists who clearly know their stuff—and the quality telescopes that let you really get a close-up view of the night sky. On the flip side, you might want to consider the cold temperatures at altitude and the fact that food isn’t included, which could catch some by surprise.
Amazing Tour!! Stunning sunset followed by spectacular stars. Both guides were very knowledgeable and conducted 2 groups in either Spanish or English. The telescopes were high end pieces of kit that everyone got plenty of time to look through, and provided fantastic views of distant stars, nebula and planets. Our favourite was the view of Jupiter, making out its stripes of colour. Shout out to our lady coach driver too, who got us up and down the mountain roads safely. If i could recommend one thing, it would be that a hot drinks machine be available at the cable car base, as a brew would've been nice to stand outside with when the temperature drops. But this is on the cable car operator and…
Great trip, everything went smoothly. Very comfortable and clean van colllected us on time and wonderful driver. We were warned it would be cold so lots of layers as it was about 10*C and you are outside for an hour while learning about the stars.
Fantastic trip. Was such a unique experience and our guide Luc was really knowledgeable. Really enjoyed the stargazing and such a beautiful sunset
This tour seems best suited for those who appreciate natural scenery, science, and a bit of adventure in the cool mountain air.
Whether you’re traveling as a couple, a solo explorer, or even with friends who love astronomy, this experience is tailored more toward adults or older teens. It’s not recommended for children under 8 or anyone with mobility issues. Here’s everything you need to know to decide if this is the right night-time excursion for you.

The lady Mikaela( I think her name is) was very helpful and a wonderful guide ,very good English and would definitely recommend the experience if you enjoy astronomy.
It was great from start to finish! Transport was speedy and tour guides were very informative. The place was beautiful.
One of the highlight of our holiday. Our astronomer Diego was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the stars. We learned so much and truly enjoyed the experience! Only thing I will say is to bring some food, as the vending machine only takes cash. Also make sure to bring a Jacket or a jumper because it gets very cold! Would highly recommend this if you have an interest in astronomy.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
The main downside? Food isn’t included, and the only options at the park are vending machines that accept coins. If you’re hungry or prefer a sit-down meal, plan to bring snacks or eat beforehand. Also, because the experience takes place at over 2,300 meters above sea level, the temperature drops significantly—so dressing warmly is a must, even if it was warm during the day.
What’s Included and What to Expect

The tour kicks off with a pickup near your hotel, which is confirmed after booking. Once you’re on your way, the transfer is comfortable and efficient. Arriving at the base of Mount Teide, you’ll settle at a prime viewpoint near the cable car station, at about 2,356 meters high. Here, you’ll have a chance to enjoy the sunset, which many travelers find to be an unforgettable moment.
The sunset itself is described as colorful, with hues that change and deepen as the sun dips behind the horizon. After sunset, the sky gradually darkens, revealing countless stars. Thanks to the professional telescopes, you’ll be able to see a lot more detail than the naked eye could manage—constellations, planets, and maybe even some surprises like the moon if it’s visible.
The trip was really enjoyable from the car ride with a very knowledgeable driver that would tell us legends about the island of Tenerife which we found super interesting and interactive, moreover he would tell us to look at the views in key moments to take pictures which was perfect. Moreover the sunset was truly spectacular and we felt safe with the guidelines provided by the driver and the guide. And finally our last station, stargazing was truly spectacular and impressive, we learned so much with our guide which was also a very knowledgeable astrophysicist. He would explain in detail everything we are seeing and we saw constellations and learned more about stars. He would answer all of ou…
This tour is really worth it and our guide Micaela was absolutely FANTASTIC ! Very knowledgeable and friendly, she took care of the spanish group (but speaks perfect English) and explained everything in a fun and captivating way. We couldn’t recommend more! Muchas gracias Micaela por contestar a todas nuestras preguntas, contarnos tantas cosas sobre el cielo y haber hecho aue nos acordemos para siempre de este tour!
We had the most incredible time on this trip. Our coach driver was lovely and made the trip up feel really safe. Our tour guide Lucas was great and super helpful. He explained everything we were seeing and gave us some really interesting history about the national park. I would 100 percent recommend this trip to anyone. An absolutely unforgettable experience thank you so much!

It was a very nice tour. Beautyful view and interesting information. But bring a warm jacket, it will get cold.
Great trip was me and my partners first time and would highly recommend.
The tour was perfect! Our guide was an astrophysicist Abel, giving us very open and informative information about Teide and the Space , we had a lot of questions and he answered them all with outstanding details. The transporting van was neat and comfortable with working cooling and heating systems , which you control yourself. We were pleasantly shocked by Teide itself and the stargazing experience, it’s a must!! 100% will do next time were here!!
Sunset at 2000 Meters

Who Should Consider This Tour?
This experience is great for travelers who love natural beauty, astronomy, and memorable scenery. It’s especially suited for those willing to embrace the cool mountain air and who enjoy guided interpretations of the night sky. If you’re traveling with kids under 8 or require mobility assistance, this might not be the best fit due to the altitude and walking involved.
This was one of the best parts of our holiday- going up Teide at sunset is a must. The sunset views were incredible and the star gazing was out of this world. The guide was really helpful in teaching us about the stars. It was expensive though, if you were not that interested in learning about the stars and where they are, looking through telescopes etc.- you could just rent a car and drive up yourself which would be a shorter drive and cheaper. The roads are pretty good and the park does not have opening hours.
The tour guide had so much information and a lovely personality. We enjoyed watching the sunset and had time to explore independently. We saw some beautiful stars and got so much information about history of stars. One thing we would recommend that the cafeteria we stop off at, have card options as we had no euros and wanted a warm drink as it was very cold outside, or perhaps some snack options for those who didn’t pay the extra for lunch! it’s a great day/night out and the transfer is comfortable, provides air conditioning and comfortable seats
Great, the guides were the best part, i wasn’t feeling 100% and they were really helpful. Really funny and supportive.
Many reviews highlight how engaging and knowledgeable the guides are, making the experience educational as well as scenic. If you’re looking for a relaxing evening that combines nature, science, and stunning views, this tour ticks all those boxes.
Pricing & Value
At around $83 per person, the tour offers a lot of value. You get transportation, expert guiding, telescopes, sunset views, and an unforgettable stargazing experience—all included in the price.
Compared to the cost of hiring a car or trying to find a good stargazing spot on your own, this guided tour ensures you won’t miss the best parts, and the comfort of being picked up and dropped off is a big plus.
Some reviewers mentioned it as “worth every penny,” especially considering the quality of the guide and the telescopes. Of course, it’s more expensive than simply driving yourself up, but the convenience and expert insights are what many find justify the cost.
