If you’re dreaming of catching the Northern Lights while cozying up in a glass-roof lavvo, this tour in Tromsø might just be exactly what you’re looking for. We haven’t done it ourselves, but based on the reviews and details, it’s clear this experience offers a blend of outdoor adventure, authentic Arctic living, and Northern Lights magic.

What we love about this experience is how it combines nature and comfort — you get to snowshoe or hike in stunning surroundings, then settle into a warm, glass-ceiling lavvo for the night, all with minimal light pollution. Also, the guides and friendly hosts seem to make this a relaxed, authentic adventure.

A possible downside? This isn’t a high-energy chase; it’s more about being in the right place to see the lights if they appear. Cloud cover can sometimes block your view, but even then, many reviews highlight that the overall experience remains memorable.

This is very unique. It was a cloudy night so No northern lights unfortunately. The small group is the best thing about it.

Had an absolutely amazing experience. Everything was thoughtfully organised from start to finish. The snowshoeing was fantastic, and the overnight stay in the lavvo under the stars was truly magical. We were lucky enough to catch some aurora during the snowshoeing and again while in the lavvo, which made the experience even more special. Everything we needed was provided, and the lavvo was clean, warm, and very comfortable. The guides were super friendly and helpful, a big shout-out to Arthur and Berenik a for making us feel so welcome. Loved this tour! We had an amazing time snowshoe hiking and were able to try out cross country skiing. The meals were fantastic, definitely a highlight. The lavvos were beautiful, and the grounds were perfect for Aurora hunting.

While weather can sometimes adjust or cancel parts of the plan, the focus is on creating a memorable experience regardless. One guest said, “The snowshoeing was great fun with opportunities for photos at the end,” highlighting how these activities aren’t just exercise—they’re a way to connect with the landscape.

Evening in the Lavvo

As evening falls, you’ll return to the lavvo, which is heated by a traditional wood-burning fireplace. The cozy interior, with its warm blankets and glass ceiling, offers a perfect vantage point for Aurora watching. Many guests describe it as a “magical” setting — a blend of comfort and adventure.

The hosts make a point of teaching you how to keep the fire going, which some find surprisingly engaging. One reviewer noted, “Putting wood on the fire every hour was fine since we were up searching for the Aurora anyway.” If luck is on your side, you might see dancing lights right from your bed or wander outside for a closer look.

Overnight in the Lavvo

Great snowshoeing walk with Angelina! We saw the Northern lights and had a fun stay in the Lavvo!
Bhavana
The villa is cute and cozy, with all the amenities needed… we were served swedish meatballs for lunch and then went on a snow hiking…. Hosts were amazing, very detailed stay and super comfy… other visitors were amazing, we had super conversations the whole evening with board games. Lavvo was warm and cute. We couldn’t see northern lights due to cloudy weather but the whole experience was amazing. Would definitely wanna go back there when it is not cloudy.
Farah
Amazing experience, very friendly and organised hosts. Snow shoe hike was great fun with opportunity for photos at the end. Overnight in the lavvo was a unique experience, learning to keep the wood fire going. Would recommend booking this experience.

Guests recount staying up late, watching the sky, or chatting around the campfire. If the clouds part, the Aurora can be seen dancing overhead; if not, many still recount enjoying the peacefulness and starry skies.

Karen
What an excellent over night trip. The views on the way to the house were amazing. The owner was ovely and explained clearly about the chances of seeing the aurora. Unfortunately the cloud cover was high throughout the night so we only caught glimpses. The Lavvo was great and putting wood on the fire every hour was fine as we were up looking for the aurora anyway. The food was also good and all the people very friendly. Luggage wasn't a problem as the van that took us there had enough room for storage. We were even treated to live music from the host and his friends. I would definitely recommend this activity. We wanted to take photos around the house so didn't do the organised snow shoe wal…

This was a truly once in a lifetime experience. Even though it was cloudy we ended up seeing so much northern lights action!
Viola
It was amazing experience. Really relaxing and they adjusted the planned snowshoe tpur to the bad snow storm and our wishes to just a shirt one. we felt like being at home at a friends place and relaxing in the warm and cozy Living Room. At around 8pm we got the instruction for the night in the Lavoo and got lucky to see the northern lights at least for a short time even it was a heavy snow fall. It was clearing up for a while. I can totally recommend the Tour. Enjoy and take the live easy!

However, keep in mind this isn’t a “high-energy, non-stop chase.” If your main goal is to chase the Aurora across different locations, other tours might be more suitable. But if you’re after a genuine, peaceful, and well-rounded Arctic experience, this stands out.

The most beautiful and special place I’ve ever stayed. Tucked into the side of a fjord surrounded by ocean and mountains is the perfect place to experience the northern lights. The owner and his daughter took us snowshoeing and share the history of the inn. The family is welcoming and you immediately feel at home. The glass lavvos are warm and cozy, and are the perfect place to experience the northern lights. Can’t wait to go back.

It was a wonderful experience. Jose is very knowledgeable about the Auroras. If it’s a good night, you will have the best views. We were very lucky, and had strong activities all night; they were just all over, many stripes at the same time. We took so many pictures. The experience is amazing, and all the people attending are very nice and are always committed to making you feel comfortable. The walk with the snowshoes was also very nice, a beautiful scenery. The photos they took also were amazing. Everything on the description is like it is, the way there, the Ferry.
