I recently booked a 2-day tour to visit both Meteora and the Oracle of Delphi, and it was an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was seamless, with friendly and knowledgeable guides who made the trip both informative and stress-free. In Meteora, I was captivated by the beauty of the monasteries and enjoyed time for personal reflection in the serene surroundings. The visit to the Oracle of Delphi was equally inspiring, offering a deep connection to ancient wisdom in a powerful, sacred space. The balance of guided tours and personal time made the journey truly enriching. I left feeling inspired and refreshed. If you’re looking for a smooth and meaningful way to explore…

INCREDIBLE activity, must do if you have the chance from Athens! We ended our honeymoon with this activity and it was wondrous to explore the monasteries in Meteora. The drive up to see the monasteries was incredible because that is where you can fully appreciate the monasteries sitting on top of the stone formations. We had two different guides for our trip. Our guide to Delphi, PhiPhi was full of attitude and less enthusiastic. Our second guide to Meteora, George was fantastic. The four star hotel, Hotel Amalia, was one of the highlights. Remember to bring your swimsuits, but if you forget, there is a gift shop in the hotel that sells affordable swimsuits, and that are super cute. There wa…

We really enjoyed this tour. The entire process was smooth. The hotel for the overnight part was pretty good, average no-frills hotel. The hotel provides dinner and breakfast. A little rushed at Delphi but still adequate (not a big place). The monasteries were cool. Our guide Jordan (I think) was very well-informed and spoke very good English. Recommend this tour

Two things we really like are the chance to see both the majestic Meteora monasteries and the ancient site of Delphi—two of Greece’s most celebrated landmarks—and the presence of guides who bring history and stories to life.

The downside? The schedule can feel a bit rushed, especially at Delphi, where reviews suggest you might not get as much time as you’d like.

Still, for travelers seeking a well-organized, hassle-free experience, this tour caters well to those who want to see the highlights without the stress of planning every detail.

This tour suits travelers who value guided insights, prefer staying in a decent hotel, and want to see Greece’s famous sights without the hassle of organizing transport or tickets. It’s especially good if you’re short on time but want a taste of Greece’s spiritual and historical treasures.

Excellent guide & driver, pick ups and transfers well handled. Both days were very interesting. Expected a lot of coach time but its that or don't go so glad I did. Hotel was also great – Amalia hotel near Meteora. Ignore complainers as the trip was 100% as expected. Chat Tours appear to be a slick operation. If in doubt just do it.
Gabriela
We loved our tour to Meteora, the tour guide was super friendly, interesting and a pleasure to be around. It was a great way to see Meteora and Delphi in two days without having to worry about lodging or transportation. It was a lot of time in the bus but that’s to be expected given the distance of these two locations from Athens. The time in Delphi was pretty short so just prepare to move quickly. Overall, worth the money!

it was better than expected! thanks for everything 🙂

Day One: From Athens to Delphi and Kalambaka

The journey kicks off early, with hotel pickups starting around 7:30 am. The bus is comfortable and, as reviews suggest, well-organized, with some hiccups like a tire repair that slightly delayed the schedule. While such issues can be a bit frustrating, they seem handled efficiently without much impact on the overall experience.

Your first stop is Delphi, one of Greece’s most revered archaeological sites. This is where you’ll walk among ancient ruins, including the Temple of Apollo, and imagine the past when the site was considered the center of the world. The guide will take you through the key highlights, sharing stories about the Oracle of Delphi and the significance of this sacred space.

Some visitors mention that the time here can feel a little rushed, which might not give you ample opportunity to explore the museum or fully soak in the atmosphere. But overall, the guided commentary tends to be well-informed and engaging.

After Delphi, the drive continues through the heart of central Greece, passing towns like Amphissa, Lamia, and Trikala. This route offers views of the Thessalian plain, known as Greece’s granary, with fields stretching as far as the eye can see. The journey itself is scenic and gives you a taste of Greece’s rural heartland.

The tour guide Effie from Athens to Delphi was awesome. She is very knowledgeable and informative about the culture and history.

Meteorea was incredible- definitely worth the drive to check out! Delphi was too short and we wish we had a chance to check out the museum. The food and lodging options were only okay- seemed geared more towards a deal the company had than any customer experience.

Going to Meteora and Delphi must be done by tour/coach… and what Chatours have organised on your behalf, is both adequate and delivers on a trip to the monasteries with interesting commentary and thoughtful logistics. The ‘but’ only exists because it’s not my preferred means of travel, and to get to the rocks, it must be done via tour bus. The Amalia hotel had a great pool, so go there soon as you arrive. The buffet is ok, but like the hotel itself, it’s a little tired. If you’re on the fence about booking, choose Chat or Key because they both offer and deliver on the same thing, and you see the other group around. Seeing Meteora is such a wonderful trip to do from Athens, it mig…

Arriving in Kalambaka in the evening, you’ll settle into your hotel, the Hotel Amalia, rated four stars. It receives positive feedback for its comfortable rooms and excellent buffet dinners—think a mix of Greek classics cooked with care and served in a lively atmosphere. Breakfast the following morning is similarly praised for quality and variety.

Day Two: Meteora Monasteries and Return to Athens

The highlight of this day is visiting the Meteora monasteries, perched high atop towering rock formations. The guided tour here is especially appreciated, with guides like George receiving glowing reviews for their enthusiasm and knowledge. You’ll visit two monasteries, which are nothing short of breathtaking—imposing structures that seem to defy gravity, set against the dramatic natural backdrop.

Getting close to these monastic complexes offers plenty of photo opportunities and a chance to appreciate their serene ambiance. Visitors often comment on the awe-inspiring views and the sense of history that permeates the air. Remember, at Meteora, men are required to wear long pants and women to dress modestly, so pack accordingly.

After the visit, the journey back to Athens begins, with a stop at Thermopylae—famous for the battle where Leonidas and his Spartans made their stand. It’s a quick stop, but one that adds historical context to your trip. The drive then continues through Kamena Vourla, offering a scenic conclusion to your two-day adventure.

On the first day our bus had a damaged tire that needed to be repaired before we made it to Delphi. This was done relatively quickly but put us off schedule. As a result our time in Delphi was quite short and seemed rushed. Our guide did a great job with the time she had but we still felt like we missed some things as we wanted more time for pictures. We needed to join a second group going to Meteora and we were already a bit late for that. We felt that the tire issue should have been caught with a regular check. Also, the tour company did not apologize or even acknowledge that there was an issue after the fact. We did not expect a refund of any sort but an acknowledgement and apology would …

For some reason, I wasn't really impressed with Delphi like I thought I would be. Metora, the views and structures are amazing. Hotel was Amalia hotel 4 star, and the dinner and breakfast buffet was excellent. I only did not like that the room temp seems to be controlled and same throughout the entire building vs my individual thermostat selection.

A Few Considerations

Plus, the bus journey is quite long—around 4-5 hours each way—so if you’re not comfortable sitting for extended periods, it’s worth considering.
