If you’re dreaming of rolling hills, dramatic coastlines, and legendary castles, this 3-day Isle of Skye tour from Glasgow might just be the kind of adventure you’re after. Based on reviews and detailed itineraries, this experience promises a well-rounded taste of the Scottish Highlands, delivered with a friendly, guide in a small group setting.
Two things we really appreciate? First, the stunning scenery—from the legendary Eilean Donan Castle to the rugged cliffs of Neist Point, this trip covers some of Scotland’s most iconic sights. Second, the expert guidance—travelers love guides who know their stuff and make the journey engaging and personal.
However, it’s worth noting that lodging is a bit remote—most accommodations are on the outskirts of towns, which might mean extra walks or plans for meals. Also, the price of around $612 per person is a solid value considering the inclusions and the sheer amount of breathtaking sights packed into just three days.
Our tour guide Jeffery was the absolute best. This was by far the best tour I have ever been on. His knowledge of the area and history was fabulous! We managed to hit each site with impeccable timing to avoid the weather and the crowds. Would definitely do this tour again!!!
Our guide, Maggie was so knowledgeable and entertaining! We also loved the Scottish music she chose for the drive. Each day was jamb packed with gorgeous scenery, points of interest, and much needed bathroom/refreshment breaks. Every stop we made along the way was well worth the time. From the Eilean Donan castle, to the Fairy pools and Glencoe, to the chocolate shop of Glenshiel, to the Isle of Skye itself. Such an amazing tour! Skye is breathtaking. Even the views from our room at the Pier House were stunning. Thanks Rabbie’s for a wonderful tour!!
Terrific. So much to see, beautiful venues, lovely walks – an eclectic trip through Scotland.
This tour suits anyone craving a comprehensive, scenic Scottish Highlands experience without the hassle of planning every detail. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or someone returning for more, if you love landscapes, castles, and a bit of local lore, this trip hits the right notes.

Day 1: From Glasgow to the Highlands
The adventure kicks off early, with your pickup from central Glasgow (either Buchanan Bus Station or another option). From there, you’ll start your journey northward, crossing the famous fault line that runs through Scotland’s landscape. This is where the scenery shifts from the gentle Lowlands to the rugged Highlands, and you’ll immediately feel the change.
The first major highlight is Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, setting the tone with shimmering waters and lush hills. As you cross into the desolate beauty of Rannoch Moor, you’ll see a landscape that feels untouched and wild.
The journey continues through Glencoe, a place that’s both stunning and poignant—famous for the massacre of Clan MacDonald in 1692. Here, many travelers note the eerie beauty and historical weight of the area.
Our guide Ian Stephens was excellent. We had a small group of five coming from 4 different countries. He took excellent care of us. Stopping at the strategic points to get the best pics and being really patient to cater to our needs. The accomodation at Broadford was 5 star. My holiday was a special one with my daughter before she starts her Uni. Ian made it so memorable for us. Incredible trip. Thank you Ian from Tony & Abby Malaysia.
This has been the most enjoyable part of our holiday. Everything was 5 star organised by Rabbies. The scenery, accommodation, transport but most of all our driver and leader, George. He added so much to our holiday. His knowledge, sense of humour and mystical communion with the fairies. We didn't want our trip to end. A big thank you.
Absolutely fantastic…. 3rd time using Rabbies … they are the best.
After a hearty lunch, you’ll pass Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and travel through the Great Glen, with views of Loch Ness—yes, the home of the legendary monster. Approaching Skye, you’ll cross the Skye Bridge, with its panoramic views, finally arriving in Broadford or Portree in the evening. Many reviews highlight how breathtaking the coastline looks as you descend into Skye— a highlight.
Day 2: Discovering the Isle of Skye
This day is flexible and tailored to weather and your interests, which is a big plus. Your guide will help you explore the north of Portree, primarily focusing on the Trotternish ridge with its stunning cliffs and rock formations such as the Old Man of Storr—a must-see for anyone into landscape photography or scenic walks.
Alternately, if the weather isn’t cooperating, guides are skilled at adjusting plans to include other sights like Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod, which offers a fascinating glimpse into local legends and history.
Other iconic stops include Kilt Rock and the Quiraing mountain pass, both offering some of the most dramatic scenery on the island. Travelers describe Skye as “breathtaking,” with reviews praising the views from rooms at places like the Pier House—so if your accommodation offers a good vista, you’ll be in for a treat.
James M was a 10/10 guide. Brilliant driver, entertainer and I loved all the places we went to. As a solo traveller, he made me feel included and was so kind and I could not possibly say enough good things in this review. He is an absolute asset to Rabbies. Do yourself a favour and book on! It’s been the best 3 days of my holiday and there are some memories I will always treasure. So many laughs, beautiful scenery and the accomodation was amazing.
We could not recommend this tour enough!! Our guide/driver was fantastic, his knowledge was incredible. What a great way to see such a beautiful country. Thanks again Graham
The tour was excellent the accomadations were awesome and our guide Senior Cameron😉 was amazing a fantastic experience and would highly recommend!!!👍
Day 3: From Skye back to Glasgow via Loch Ness
On the final day, you’ll retrace your route southward through the Cuillin Hills, enjoying views over Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintail. Here, you might feel a twinge of sadness leaving such stunning scenery, but the journey isn’t over yet.
A stop for lunch at Loch Ness promises a chance to scan the waters for Nessie—though the real highlight is the scenery and the quirky, legendary vibe of the place. Many reviews mention the fun of hoping to spot the monster, but even if you don’t, the landscape makes up for it.
After lunch, the route continues south through the Grampian mountains, stopping at Blair Castle for some refreshments. The trip winds down with scenic views of Loch Laggan and the classic Highland landscape, heading back to Glasgow.

Reviewers consistently praise the knowledge and friendliness of guides—many mention guides like Maggie, Ian, Stewart, and Kevin for their storytelling, humor, and caring attitude. One reviewer notes, “Our guide Ian Stephens was excellent. He took excellent care of us,” highlighting the personal touch that small group tours can offer.
An absolutely wonderful tour! We had only 2 people because it's off season, so the tour was a bit more tailored to our preferences. Lodging was conveniently located and near some of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. I HIGHLY recommend this tour for groups but especially for independent travelers like myself.
The Isle of Skye tour was excellent. The guide was on time every day ready to maximize our day light hours to see the views of the Isle and surrounding highlands as we made our way there and back. Bobby was knowledgeable and told us various history and stories about the places we saw. Highly recommend this tour.
We loved our 3 day tour to the Isle of Skye. Cameron was an excellent tour guide, the best storyteller (we also enjoyed how he incorporates music into the storytelling too). We were very fortunate with the weather. All round very enjoyable experience and one I can’t stop recommending to friends and family
The scenery is the star of the show. Many mention how even with good weather, the views are stunning—ranging from rugged mountains and ancient castles to dramatic cliffs and tranquil lochs. One traveler called Skye “breathtaking,” and many recommend the stops at Eilean Donan Castle and Kilt Rock as highlights.
A common praise is the value for money, especially considering that the tour includes transportation, two nights’ accommodation, and guided commentary. Several reviews mention that the accommodations are cozy and characteristic of the region, although a few note the remote locations can mean some walking to dinner or amenities.
Downsides? Some travelers found the lodging on the outskirts of towns a bit inconvenient, especially if they wanted easy access to local pubs or restaurants. Others mention limited meal options in rural areas, so bringing snacks or planning meals ahead might be wise.
Family-Friendliness
While the minimum age is 5, the tour’s pace and walking requirements suggest it’s best suited for travelers comfortable with some moderate walking and variable weather. It’s not specifically marketed as a family-focused tour, but families with older children or teenagers who enjoy outdoor scenery will find plenty to love.
Is This Tour Worth It?

Given the reviews and itinerary, the $612 price point offers solid value for the experience packed into three days. The combination of expert guides, scenic stops, and cozy accommodations makes it appealing for those seeking a relaxed yet comprehensive Highlands adventure.
I had a great time throughout this tour. 10/10. Wonderful panoramic views throughout the trip. I was struggling a little with my motion sickness on the first day because i forgot to buy the pills. Got them the next day and everything was just splendid. Nick’s a fantastic guide, because our group was so small, we were brought to cover more places and some surprises at the end of each day. We were fortunate to get the sun for the first 2 days, and Nick customised our trip according to the weather forecast. Despite the rain on our last day Nick still made the best out of it. Highly recommended 👍🏼
We travelled as a couple, with two friends as well. My main objection was to the fact that we were separated at our accommodations; would have liked to be in same location at the end of the day. Our guide, Kevin, was exceptional in every way: a great driver, an interesting guide, a sensitive person who was amazingly sensitive to the needs of the group and to each individual as well, as much as possible. Another comment I want to make is that it wasn't clear how we communicate with someone if we have a problem. We didn't have our guide's number and when a problem arose, we felt we were on our own. Maybe, instructions should be given on the first evening as to what to do if a problem arises.
Our guide Kevin was great. The trip was informative; breathtaking; inclusive and most of all enjoyable
The tour strikes a good balance between structured sightseeing and flexibility, allowing you to tailor your day based on weather and interests. Plus, traveling in a small group means more personal interaction and less time waiting around.
