If you’re staying in Sousse and want a big day without the stress, this VIP private tour links three Tunisian highlights: Sidi Bou Said, the Medina of Tunis (or the Bardo Museum option), and Carthage. It runs about 6 to 8 hours, with hotel pickup and a friendly multilingual driver-host for the road.
What I like most is the flexible, self-paced format. You’re not stuck following a rushed group script, and you can spend extra time where you care most. Second, the day includes practical help like WhatsApp support and assistance choosing lunch based on your preferences.
The main consideration: this is not an in-depth history lecture tour. You’ll get general, helpful context during travel, but if you want dates and deep background, you may want to upgrade to a licensed history guide.
5 Stars! Otman was a great guide! It's nice that if you wanna see more they help you out! Thank you!
Fun and informative. Learned a lot about the history of Tunisian. The food was delicious. Best food recommendation from my tour guide.
Excellent excursions. Picked up on time and good instructions the day before. Hsin was a good driver and guide, explained things very well and allowed us to go at our pace.
This fits best if you want maximum sights with minimal hassle, especially couples, friends, and solo travelers who like control over timing.

Key Points

- Private VIP experience with flexibility to move at your pace
- Pickup from your hotel with clear WhatsApp instructions the night before
- Choice of Tunis stop: Medina of Tunis or Bardo Museum
- Carthage needs time if you’re into ruins and views from Byrsa Hill
- Entry fees are mostly free except Carthage, but plan for the small site fee
- Driver-host guidance is practical, not a full academic history tour
How the day works (timing and vibe)

This is designed as a private VIP self-guided experience. Your driver-host gets you between sights and offers general facts and cultural tips while you’re on the road. Once you arrive, you’re typically free to roam, ask questions, and adjust timing within the day.
The itinerary is built around three stops, each with a rough window listed as:
- Sidi Bou Said: about 1 hour 45 minutes (admission ticket free)
- Medina of Tunis: about 1 hour 30 minutes (admission ticket free)
- Carthage: about 1 hour 30 minutes (includes a small admission fee)
That said, you’ll also see a pattern in real traveler feedback: people usually feel the tour hits the key places, but some wish there was more time in Carthage or more guidance in the Medina. So if you’re the type who likes to read every plaque and take extra photos, you’ll want to use the tour’s built-in flexibility.
It was an experience of a lifetime. The tour and my excellent driver / guide REJEB was an amazing experience. REJEB went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was a memorable one. I highly recommend this tour and my driver/ tour guide
Ahmed promptly arrived at the said pick up time. Very friendly driver and always cracking jokes. The journey from Sousse to Tunis was over 90 minutes. So the return journey nearly took up half of the day. Ahmed took us to the locations as per the tour. He advised what to do and see but left us to our own. Always at the pick up point which was reassuring. The only thing that was not good was that we were a group of 7 and plus the driver makes 8. The vehicle that the tour company provided was very tight for our group especially given the long journeys. But overall it was worth the trip
The tour operator was on time for pick-up. The places visited were beautiful but more time is needed in Carthage. Sidi Bou Said was the highlight of the trip. Highly recommend.
Stop 1: Sidi Bou Said, Tunisian blue-and-white photo heaven

Sidi Bou Said is the first taste of Tunisia’s visual charm. You’ll wander narrow lanes with blue and white buildings, then pause for sea-breeze breaks at little cafes and art spots along the way. It’s the kind of place where you can walk five minutes and feel like you’ve already found something photogenic.
What you’ll likely enjoy
- Cliff-top views over the blue sea, great for photos
- A village feel with cafes and art galleries
- The easy rhythm of wandering rather than racing
A practical tip
This stop can get crowded. One traveler noted that Sidi Bou Said was pretty but busy, which is a polite way of saying you’ll want to pick smart moments for photos. If you’re flexible, you can ask the driver-host where the quieter angles are and then plan your main photo time around that.
Admission time feel
You get about 1 hour 45 minutes, which is usually enough for a loop through the best streets plus a cafe stop, as long as you don’t get stuck browsing every gallery window for too long.
Stop 2: Medina of Tunis or the Bardo Museum option

This is where you choose your flavor.
Excelent experience and the place are beautifull. The driver is gratefull and helping in all moment.
Id happily recommend out your driver, Hussain (hope I spelt it correctly!!!) He is an amazing guy and accounts for 99% out the great time we had on this tour!! We felt he went out of his way to be with us and to take us to all the best sites at Sidi Bou Said (which is amazing by the way!!) There was no pressure from him and gave us as much time as we needed to visit the sites Because of him we had a great tour – thank you Id happily recommend Simba Fun Travel as we were given our all the contact details the night before (with drivers name etc) Everything was smooth
Al Hussein was our brilliant guide for the day, he arrived at our hotel in Monastir shortly before our pick up time and had been in contact with us the day before by WhatsApp. Throughout the day Al Hussein provided us with lots of information about the places we were visiting and about Tunisia generally, he helped us to tailor our day to give us the best experience. Our first stop was Carthage the ancient ruined city, then onto stunning Sidi Bou Said where Al Hussein accompanied us and took lots of fabulous photos and took us to an excellent cafe. Our final stop was the beautiful city of Sousse where we poked around the Sousse Souk and Al Hussein helped us secure the best bargains. We had a…
Option A: Medina of Tunis
The Medina of Tunis is lively and noisy in the best way. You’ll see market life, browse tourist products, and get that “you’re in the real neighborhood” feeling—colors, scents, sounds, and lots of movement.
You’ll get about 1 hour 30 minutes, and the tour notes mention the driver-host might help you with prices if you ask. That’s a big deal here, because the Medina isn’t a museum—you’ll be making choices, bargaining sometimes, and deciding what’s worth your time.
My advice: Use your first 15 minutes to get oriented. Don’t commit to a direction too fast. With only about an hour and a half, you’ll want a small game plan: pick a street or two to focus on, then treat the rest as bonus wandering.
One review experience matched this idea: some people said they had a chance to see the Medina but lacked the energy to work through the souk maze. That’s not a failure of the tour—it’s just how Medina navigation works. If you want momentum, ask the driver-host to point out a simple route.
2nd tour I booked with Simba during my short time in Tunisia. Same as the 1st, I was happy to have a private driver take me to multiple places I wanted to visit. Driver was a really nice guy, passable English but not proficient. The tour is brilliant for getting to see some truly outstanding places in and around Tunis, for me personally the Roman and Carthiginian ruins were fantastic highlights. I paid £139 for this trip, as I done it solo, and as advertised expected a "brand new car", instead a pretty old Toyota hatchback turned up, I've seen groups complain about this and can understand why, I'm 5'11 and felt a bit cramped alone in the back. Ultimately I don't mind as I got what I wanted …
Perfect way to visit Tunis may tourist spots. Our driver Ahmed was friendly and professional and really went out if his way to help us with everything we needed. Highly recommended
Hsinbenhamra was like our body guard honestly , thank you so much for showing us around , A great tour!
Option B: Bardo Museum
Your tour includes a choice: you can go to the Medina or Bardo. The day still has time carved out for that segment (around 1 hour 30 minutes), but note the same big rule: museums reward time. If you choose Bardo, you’ll want to aim for the highlights rather than trying to cover everything.
Stop 3: Carthage, ruins plus big sea views

Carthage is the history stop people remember. You’ll learn on the road about why it mattered as a major rival to the Roman Empire, then you’ll visit major areas including mentions like the Baths of Antoninus and the Carthage National Museum. You also get the chance to climb Byrsa Hill for wide-open views of the sea.
What makes Carthage special
- Ruins with scale: it’s not just a single monument
- The mix of sights and viewpoints
- A sense of walking through a layered past
Time reality check
Several travelers felt the tour did a good job covering key places, but that Carthage might need more time if it’s your top priority. If that’s you, use the tour’s flexibility to spend extra time here and trim less-essential wandering elsewhere.
Admission fee
Carthage has an admission fee of 3.50 per person, which is clearly a small extra cost compared to what you’ll be spending on the overall day. Just factor it into your day so there are no surprises.
A self guided tour, better to book a guided tour to learn more about the culture. Driver was friendly and honest and pick us up promptly at each venue.
Excellent driver, guide. Gave instructions and recommendations. Everything worked well. I recommend the service provider
self guided tour but the driver was really kind, he gave us a little preview of what site we were about to see, the drive was nice and the car clean and comfortable. simba fun travel team was also very helpful and accommodating i recommend booking tours with them
The VIP transportation and pickup experience

This is built around a comfortable setup:
- Brand new comfortable vehicle
- Air-conditioned
- Hotel pickup in front of the reception
- Multi-city VIP pickup/transfer
- Drop-off flexibility if you’re on the route (free), with small fees for off-route cities
Your driver-host sends WhatsApp details, typically the evening before (around 22:00), with more instructions and safety info about 24 hours before.
A helpful detail: what if the timing slips?
If the driver is more than 8 minutes late, you’re told to contact via WhatsApp. That matters because one common travel irritation is uncertainty. Here you’ve got a clear rule and a direct channel.
Vehicle size warning to keep in mind
One traveler mentioned that in a group of seven plus driver, the vehicle felt tight for long journeys. The key takeaway: if you’re traveling in a larger group, confirm the vehicle size you’ll receive so you can plan for comfort.
Lunch help that keeps the day moving

Lunch isn’t included, but you do get lunch assistance. The company helps you choose and take you to a restaurant that matches your dish preference, and the general idea is that eating outside in Tunisia is affordable.
In practice, this is useful because:
- you don’t waste time hunting
- you get a local-friendly recommendation
- you can keep your schedule smoother before the next leg
Some travelers still wanted more lunch options listed ahead of time. So if lunch matters a lot to you, ask early. Even a short message on WhatsApp with your preferred cuisine helps.
What you’re really paying for (value, not just a low price)

This tour is listed at $30.32 per person, which sounds like a bargain for a private pickup and a full day of moving between major sites. The value comes from three things:
- Private VIP logistics: you’re not fighting public transport or timing your own driving.
- Flexibility: you can usually stay longer where you want and adjust within the day.
- Support system: WhatsApp help before, during, and after adds real friction-reduction.
One traveler complaint boiled down to a mismatch in expectations: some wanted deeper historical facts and more on-site guidance. If you want that, you’ll need the in-depth history licensed guide option mentioned, or another type of tour that’s explicitly guide-led for history.
So the fair way to think about it is:
- If you want sites + comfort + flexible routing, this is strong value.
- If you want facts, dates, and nonstop narration, you may want to plan an upgrade.
Real traveler patterns (what to watch and how to use this tour well)

From the experiences shared, a few themes pop:
Great support when you ask for it
Many travelers praised drivers for being friendly and helpful, sometimes going out of their way. Several people specifically mentioned smooth pickup and good instructions the day before.
Where some people felt let down
- Not enough historical detail if you expected a full guide
- Timing pressure if time gets shortened for the stop you care about most
- Need clearer time guidance (how long to spend where)
- One mention of lack of water included in the car, which is minor but worth planning for
How to avoid the common issues
- Tell your driver-host what matters most: Carthage ruins vs Medina vs photos in Sidi Bou Said.
- Ask for a suggested route if you go into the Medina.
- Don’t assume the full historical story will be delivered on the spot. If it matters, request more context while you’re there and consider a licensed history add-on.
Who should book this VIP tour
Book it if you:
- want a private day with pickup from your hotel in the Sousse area
- like self-paced exploring but still want a driver-host for help
- care about Sidi Bou Said photos, Carthage ruins, and a Medina or museum stop
- value easy logistics and WhatsApp support
Consider a different style tour if you:
- want nonstop in-depth historical commentary and specific dates
- hate the idea of a short museum visit or a time-limited Medina wandering
- need extra comfort for a larger group and haven’t confirmed vehicle size
Should you book? My practical verdict
I’d book this tour for the way it balances freedom and structure. You get a clean route between three big destinations, comfortable transport, and enough driver-host support to keep things smooth. And you’re not boxed into a strict group pace.
Just be honest about what you want. If your priority is stories with details and names and dates, plan to ask a lot more during the day or look for an in-depth guide option. If your priority is seeing the sights, taking photos, and enjoying your own pace, this VIP format is a strong match.
