I had the most fabulous trio to Delphi and Meteora, it was unforgettable. our guide Demi was fantastic, so knowledgeable and so lovely. we had a great group of people in the tour, I was a solo traveller and I met other solo traveller's, and other lovely people from around the world. I chose the 3 star Hotel and it was perfect, huge room and stunning views of the monasteries. I paid a single supplement for my own room. we had dinner at the hotel included and breakfast, both were buffet style and lots of choice. A highlight of my trip to Greece, highly recommend.

Starting Point and Transportation

The tour kicks off from Athens, where you’ll meet your guide at the G.O. Tours terminal. From there, the journey begins with a luxury coach equipped with Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable ride.

The long drive to Delphi and Meteora might not be everyone’s favorite part, but many reviews say the quality of the bus and the company of your fellow travelers make it worth it. One review highlights the bus driver’s skill, noting that safety and punctuality are priorities.

The First Stop: Delphi

Our first major stop is Delphi, a site that stands out as one of Greece’s most evocative archaeological locations. Home to the famous Temple of Apollo, it’s where ancient Greeks sought guidance from the Oracle. The site’s stunning mountain setting provides panoramic views that make it easier to imagine how it all once thrived.

Guide Sofia and the driver Kostas were amazing! We were a part of a great group of almost 40 people but everyone was polite and punctual so we all gathered together in time. The experience was just amazing! I recommend this tour for everyone as you see a real Greece on your way. The bus was comfortable and the itinerary is busy but we had spare time in each location. Monasteries in Meteora were great and unforgettable. Cannot recommend the tour highly enough!

Shastina
Tour was amazing the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly, I was very pleased the way they explained the sites and the place we were going!

Visitors can explore the ruins of the theater, stadium, and ancient temples, soaking in the history. Many reviews mention that guides do a good job explaining the significance of each area, though some felt the time was a bit rushed—particularly for visiting the Delphi Archaeological Museum, which isn’t included in the tour.

Despite the tight schedule, travelers often find the visit to Delphi to be a highlight. One review notes, “Delphi was amazing and Meteora was outstanding,” emphasizing how the sites lived up to expectations. However, some wished for a bit more time at Delphi to explore the museum or enjoy the views more leisurely.

The Overnight in Kalabaka

After a day of exploring Delphi, the tour includes an overnight stay in the charming village of Kalabaka. The hotel, described as comfortable by many, provides a restful base after a busy day.

Dinner is included, and reviews seem to indicate that the food is up to standard—some even call it “very good.” The hotel rooms are described as cozy, with some reviews mentioning that the bedding and amenities are satisfactory, though a few found the rooms somewhat small.

It was wonderful. The tour guide Militsa was very knowledgable and very clear on her explanations. Friendly, helpful. The bus driver, Socrates, loves to keep the bus very clean and comfortable and as well very safe driver. It was very positive and enriching experience
Marrianne
Amazing. Our guide Anthony at Delphi was great. For Meterora Dominique was exceptional- so helpful, knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the area. Dominique went above and beyond for special request for us to honour a recently passed friend. Thank you again.
Ishana
Loved our tour guide Militsa who was super informative and so nice. And our lovely bus driver Ioannis, always took time to play with our 1 year old baby whom we bought on the trip. Managed to do everything we wanted to in those 2 days, my favourite personally was Delphi. The hotel was beautiful as well. Would recommend this tour for sure 😊

Kalabaka itself offers a lovely atmosphere, with a chance to wander around, explore local eateries, or just relax before the next day’s sights.

Day Two: Meteora’s Monasteries

The next morning, the focus shifts to Meteora—a geological marvel with towering rock formations topped by historic Orthodox monasteries. This is where the tour really shines. The monasteries are captivating, perched precariously among the rocks, and many reviews love the unforgettable views.

Guided tours of these monasteries give a glimpse into their spiritual and architectural significance. Travelers often mention that the guides make the visit engaging, explaining the history behind each monastery and the monks’ way of life.

It’s important to note the dress codes—long skirts and trousers are required for women and men entering the monasteries, which is a common rule but worth preparing for. One reviewer highlighted that the monasteries are “well worth a visit,” and many agree Meteora’s natural beauty and spiritual history make it a top highlight.

Jane
The visits to Delphi and Meteora were good though a little more time in Delphi would have been appreciated. The hotel was average but food and service very good.
James
We had a great time on our tour. The sights were quite amazing. It was a long bus ride but worth it.
Sritama
The activity was very good and worth the money. Our guide, Thomas, was very knowledgable and very good. A true follower of "Pausanias". However, I would note that, the restaurants they take us to are on the expensive side. Esp in Meteora, the restaurant palazzo: the pricing is very confusing, it is a buffet style restaurant, but not exactly and the bill ends up unnaturally expensive. The lamb i ordered had some hair and fur stuck to it. luckily the owner compensated the price of my plate, but it was still not a good experience there. But the guide is exceptional.

Additional Sight: The Leonidas I Monument

On the way back, the tour includes a stop at the Leonidas I monument, honoring the Spartan king. It’s a quick photo opportunity but adds a bit of Greek history flavor to the journey.

Food and Meals

Included meals are generally well-rated. The dinner in Kalabaka is appreciated, often praised for quality and variety. Breakfast is also part of the package—adequate to start your day. However, some reviews mention that the restaurants chosen for lunch and dinner can be a little on the pricey and touristy side, with less authentic food options.

One review specifically pointed out a buffet-style restaurant that ended up being unexpectedly expensive and not the best quality.

The Return Journey & Final Thoughts

The return trip to Athens is long, with some travelers saying it can take up to 8 hours including drop-offs. While the coach’s comfort is appreciated, the length of travel is a lot to handle for some. You might find that the bus stop arrangements at the end of the tour could be more efficient, with some reviews mentioning lengthy drop-off procedures.

This tour is worth every cent I paid. The 2 places are awesome. My only wish was that the group could be kept smaller so that we have more time to take pics especially at The Meteora. Otherwise guide Thomas was good, he knows the history very well. I wished he has given us the floor to ask questions in the bus. The bus can be better with wider leg room.
inara
Meteora is one of the most beautiful places I ever seen. The guide tour was amazing, although the hotel was not comfortable and the bath tube was too dangerous.
Vijay
Was an exceptional trip. Both our guide and the driver were FAB! Also, the accommodation were nice too. Overall an excellent trip. Professionally conducted and went just as planned!!!
