Our experience was made better with our guide Matt. He went extra with his freindlyness and knowledge of the area. I would recommend Matt and this excursion. At the end, Matt even got us a traditional coffee to cap off our outing.

Great tour of Crete with Angie! We visited Chania on a cruise and had a great day seeing a few local places and tasting olive oil and wines. Would definitely book with her again if I was on the island.

A great experience touring through the Olive Mill and tasting some of the best flavours from this beautiful part of the world. Tasting the selection of wines was much enjoyed by the family. A special thanks to our wonderful and lovely tour guide Angie, thanks for all your hospitality and knowledge 😃

A possible downside is the price point, which might seem steep for some, but the private, all-included nature of the tour adds to its value.

I'll begin by saying that for anyone who goes to Chania this is a must see tour. The tour is both informative, interesting and relaxing. Our tour guide Angie was as great a tour guide as you can ask for. Besids being a native Cretian with all the knowledge and facts one could ask for, she's fun, entertaining and after a few minutes with her she becomes "family." This was 1 of the best tours we've taken. Do not miss it.

Several reviews love how stunning the lake is and how relaxing the boat ride can be. One user describes it as “gorgeous,” and the photos alone make it look like a peaceful paradise.

Next, you’ll head to a family-owned olive oil factory in Vryses. Here, the focus is on authentic, traditional production.

The tasting of olive oil and raki (a local spirit) is a highlight for many, with travelers describing the experience as “delicious” and “informative.” The tour of the factory is short, about 40 minutes, but packed with insights into how Crete’s olive oil is made and why it’s so prized.

Finally, your journey takes you to the Dourakis Winery, a family-run hotel where you’ll sample five different wines. The reviews highlight the high quality of the wines and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

This trip was one of the best days of our holiday. We did the trip to Kournas Lake followed by the olive oil factory and then onto the wine tasting experience. Angie (our guide) was absolutely fantastic, she offered to pick us up from our accommodation which was a big help and dropped us back. There were towels, snacks and water provided for us, by Angie. Throughout the day Angie recommended so many different places for us to visit throughout our holiday, she then followed this up with a WhatsApp message that evening. The information she provided was so helpful and she went above and beyond our expectations. If you are thinking about doing this trip on your holiday, our advice is definitel…

Angie is amazing! She was so accommodating and flexible, and she has so much knowledge about the island of Crete and all its beauty. The lake she took us to was incredible and with her we got to avoid the hassle of parking and walking. The olive oil factory was awesome but the winery was my favorite. This is a great experience for your visit to Crete- highly recommend!

I have no words to explain our fabulous day in Crete with Angie!! She was AMAZING! She is the owner and operator of the tour. We expected a lot and it was so much more! If you are visiting Crete, she needs to be your guide. She is the best! We are already trying to figure out how to get back here next year and have her tour us for days!

The winery tour is around two hours, during which you’ll learn about the local wine-making process and enjoy some of the best flavors Crete has to offer. Many mention the lunch-style snacks and tapas serve as a perfect accompaniment.

I can’t say enough about how great this excursion was! Angie was the ultimate host! She thought of everything and was so informative to us as she drove. Her van was total comfort and she made us feel very relaxed. She’s a local of Crete with excellent English. The lake, the winery and olive oil experiences all exceeded expectations! Would recommend her again and again. Frankly, we were sad for the day to end we so enjoyed our time together! We bonded in an unexpected way and I’ll never forget Angie and how she made our Cretan visit memorable. Until next time!

Very relaxing, enjoyable way to see and experience parts of Crete with limited time available in port from cruise. Angie was a super host explaining all about the island and allowing us as much or little time as desired at each stop. Also had nice local snack Angie shared with us after each stop. Lake was nice with some local shopping around it. Also got to see and walk out to Chapel in the Sea which was very cool. Olive farm and production location was extremely nice, enjoyable and low key. This was all topped off by a great trip to a beautiful winery with tour and tasting. Highly recommend this excursion and all the better if Angie can be your tour guide!
Inge B
We very much enjoyed our tour day with Angie. On the way to Lake Kournas and during the entire day, she gave a lot of information about Crete, the culture, the go-to sights, the people living here, the every day life, and what kind of challenges there are on Crete. The tour was a good mixture of activities (‘bicycling’ on the lake spotting a turtle), history learning and knowledge on olive oil production, spiced up with small treats and quiz questions. The visit to Dourakis Winery for tasting and late lunch in beautiful surroundings ended a perfect day for us.
Ive C
Angie is the best, Lake Kournas is gorgeous and Dourakis winery has the best food and wine. We had so much fun!

The Experience from Our Perspective

The guide’s knowledge and friendliness were consistently praised, with many reviews mentioning how she added personal touches, like sharing tips or small treats.

The scenery at Lake Kournas is especially worth noting. Travelers have called it “gorgeous,” and the boat ride offers generous photo opportunities. The vineyard, with its family-owned atmosphere, feels authentic and welcoming, making the wine tasting more than just a quick stop.

One thing to keep in mind is the cost. While it includes all transportation and tastings, additional activities like pedal boating are extra.
