Taking a guided trip from Warsaw to Auschwitz-Birkenau is a profound way to connect with a pivotal part of world history. This particular tour offers a straightforward, well-organized way to visit the site, especially if you’re not keen on navigating public transport or planning your own logistics.
From what we’ve seen and heard from travelers, it seems to strike a good balance between comfort, education, and respect for the gravity of the experience.
What we really like about this tour is the included transportation and entrance tickets—these eliminate the guesswork and stress of logistics, making the day more about reflection than planning. Plus, the guides are praised for their knowledge and ability to provide context, which can be invaluable when confronting such a heavy subject.
I was under the impression that the group of 7 I drove with be our own tour. We met up with other tours and there were too many people. If you didn’t walk in the front, you would hear information via headphones 2 minutes before seeing the spot that was discussed. I also had a hard time understanding the guide. I could have learned more just by reading Wikipedia. You are better off hiring a personal guide instead of this tour with at least 30 people. I am only recommending because it’s important for people to visit.
I was surprised to learn that booking the experience does not guarantee your visit, which is not the tour company’s fault. Auschwitz released a limited number of English speaking guides per day and you are also competing for a spot against others visiting the museum/memorial. I booked the tour over a month prior to my visit date. 3-4 days before, I got a message from Agnieszka asking me to switch days to accommodate the tour. I was unable to switch days, but she made sure I was able to get a spot to tour Auschwitz on my preferred day. I found out about 24 hours prior to my tour that I would be going. I appreciated her efforts to ensure I was able to see Auschwitz and her flexibility in as…
It is a very long day with lots of brisk walking and minimal breaks. Our driver was prompt and our guide was very informative. You need sunscreen, hat, umbrella for shade. I suggest taking lunch and maybe fruit and have it when you get there as this will be your only chance. It is very very busy and tours keep moving through. They have vending machines there with fresh sandwiches and drinks. Water is very rarely cold. Our driver provided water also but not cold.
On the flip side, a potential consideration is the long travel time—about 3.5 to 4 hours each way—which can make for a rather full 12-hour day.
This tour seems best suited for anyone who values comfort and wants a guided, informative experience without the hassle of organizing logistics themselves. It may not be ideal for very young children or those sensitive to emotionally intense visits, but for most adult travelers and older teens, it offers a meaningful and manageable way to pay respects and learn.

Highly recommend this tour by car from Warsaw to Auschwitz. Driver picked me up at 6:40am from my hotel, the tour company secured the tickets to Auschwitz, there were 5 of us total on the tour in a 9 passenger van. It was about 3 1/2 hour drive and the driver Dominic was amazing. Once you arrive your driver hands you off to the tour guide and you join a larger group. That tour guide takes you through Auschwitz for about 2 hours, then you take a bus with the group to Birkenau where the tour guide again meets you and takes you on a 45 minute tour. After you meet back up with the driver and head back to Warsaw (3 1/2 drive). Recommend eating breakfast and bringing snacks because you don’t hav…
Our driver was wonderful! He was on time and made sure we knew what to do when we arrived to Auschwitz.
What a wonderful adventure. The tour operators were very helpful and flexible with making changes to our pickup arrangements. They are experts. Special recognition to Maciek, our driver. He was spectacular! Our pickup and drop off times were within one minute of the projected schedule for our 12-hour journey. He was so pleasant, courteous, and provided all the information needed for our tour. He is a “five-star” person. Thank you also to Michal and the rest of the tour guides. Highly recommend this them when visiting Warsaw. Thank you.
Most travelers seem to appreciate the prompt communication and the clear instructions from the company, AB Everest Travel. They send reminders and detailed info about pick-up times and locations, which helps eliminate last-minute stress.
The Pickup and Transportation
Your journey kicks off early at 7:00 am from your Warsaw accommodation, with pick-up included. The vehicle is air-conditioned, comfortable, and driven by courteous drivers—many reviews mention Maciej and Marciej as being especially friendly, helpful, and professional.
Several reviews praise how they turn what could be a tedious drive into a pleasant experience, with stops for drinks, rest, or even a quick visit to a local restaurant for lunch.
The drive itself is about 3.5 to 4 hours one way—an aspect to keep in mind if long car rides are tough for you. However, most travelers seem to find the journey manageable thanks to the drivers’ considerate attitude and engaging conversations. Several reviewers mention the drivers’ efforts to make the trip comfortable, including stopping for breaks and sharing insights along the way.
The tour operator Kris was amazing and whilst it is a humbling experience overall to Auschwitz, Kris made it all easy for us. Thank you
The experience was amazing. My only complaint would be that when I booked the experience all the reviews I read said pick up was around 7-8 am. The reason I decided to pay more was for the later pickup as all the other tours started much earlier. However, we didn’t get our pickup time until the day before and it was at 4:50am. We had reservations for dinner the night before that I couldn’t cancel so we were very exhausted on the tour. We were told also that during the summer there could be pick ups as early as 3am so just be mindful of that. Other than the pick up time, the tour was great and Agnes was amazing.
While visiting Auschwitz is difficult, Oskar, our tour guide at the camp, was terrific. He is probably one of the best guides that I have had in terms of providing historical context during a tour. I highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking to learn more about this critical time in our history.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau Site Visit
Once you arrive, the main event begins. The guided tour at Auschwitz and Birkenau lasts around 3.5 hours. You’ll explore the camps with an English-speaking guide, learning about the history, the living conditions, and the stories of those who suffered there.
The reviews consistently highlight the guides’ ability to provide meaningful context, making the experience more than just walking through a site—it’s an opportunity to understand the scale and significance.
While the physical walk can be intense—there’s a lot of standing, walking, and some stairs—many find that the emotional weight of the site makes it a deeply memorable and impactful visit. One reviewer noted that the guide was “probably one of the best” in providing historical details, and many mention how the experience left a lasting impression.
Reflection and Respect
Visitors often find the visit emotionally challenging—some describe feeling a mix of sadness, anger, and nostalgia. The reviews show that this is a very real, raw experience, and one that should be approached with respect. It’s essential to be prepared for an intense day, both physically and emotionally.
Fantastic guide and driver. Nothing was too much. We were booked on to the later tour. The driver was there straight away and even stopped of at Mcdonald for us to run in as we asked and didn't mind at all even though it was about 11.30pm and he been driving 3 hours and then 3 hours back.
It's a long drive to Auschwitz and our driver, Maciek, turned the long journey into a very pleasant experience with consideration, humerous conversation and overall excellent service he made this uneasy day a bit easier ❤️
This is a place everyone should go to. Driver was super nice and efficient. The tour is what it is – there are a lot of people going to Aushwitz and going through many buildings with tight corridors. Be ready to walk up and down stairs. Wear your casual clothes and listen.
The Return Journey
After the site visit, the journey back to Warsaw begins, again taking around 3.5 to 4 hours. Most reviews mention the driver being punctual and helpful, ensuring a smooth and comfortable return trip. Some even appreciated the quick stops for snacks or bathroom breaks, which help break up the long ride.
What’s Included and What’s Not
The tour includes all fees and taxes, bottled water, entrance tickets, and a guided group tour in English. The convenience of hotel pickup and drop-off simplifies logistics considerably. However, participants need to organize their own lunch and dinner—there are stops along the way where you can grab a meal if you wish.
Is It Worth the Price?
At $216.29 per person, the tour offers a lot of value—especially when you consider the transportation, tickets, and guided experience. It’s a day-long commitment, but for many, the ease and depth of understanding outweigh the cost. Several travelers mentioned that their guides and drivers went above and beyond, making the long day feel more manageable and meaningful.

I had an incredible experience on this tour that exceeded all of my expectations. From the start, Maciej was fantastic—he arrived promptly at my hotel at 8:00 AM and was incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout the day. The drive was about 3.5 hours, but Maciej was more than happy to make stops for coffee, food, and restrooms, ensuring a comfortable journey. When we arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Maciej introduced us to our tour guide, who did an excellent job of explaining the history and significance of the site. The tour itself was deeply moving and emotional, offering an impactful and thorough experience of both camps, which took about three hours. The tour was arranged with a …
Our visit to Auschwitz/Birkenau has elicited a profoundly emotional response, prompting a wide range of feelings. I am finding it challenging to process my emotions, which encompass confusion, sadness, anger, and distress. The evidence of the atrocities perpetrated at Auschwitz/Birkenau is compelling, yet it remains difficult to fully comprehend the extent of the horrors inflicted upon the victims. It is deeply disturbing to recognize that there are individuals who refuse to acknowledge the occurrence of these atrocities and that, as human beings, we have not sufficiently learned from these experiences. Although our driver to Auschwitz, Majeic, was wonderful, our guide through Auschwitz left…
An excellent excursion. Maciej our driver was punctual, polite, very helpful with directions was happy to stop on the journey when ever he was asked to. He pointed out where we need to meet our guides and where to be collected too. The tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau was respectful and informative the guide was excellent in her knowledge and in answering all of our questions. We could not recommend this tour enough
