This was even better than we had posed for. The tour group was broken into two smaller groups – each with only 9 people. Frane was not only very knowledgeable and easy to understand (strong voice in English), but was able to add insightful, personal Croatian perspectives and opinions that added a lot to the tour. Adding Trogir to the Split itinerary was a big plus – fascinating history of this now very upscale, photogenic, and historic island town. Diocletian Palace was very cool and we happy to witness a high-energy, joyous wedding celebration in front of a church within the palace walls. This was a terrific tour, well worth it.

Our guide Antonia was absolutely amazing! She provided the most comprehensive and insightful guidance, and you can truly feel how much she loves her city. Her passion and knowledge brought Split to life in a way that made the experience unforgettable. Antonia went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect day — from sharing local stories to recommending hidden gems. Thanks to her, I’ve completely fallen in love with Split and can’t wait to come back again. Highly, highly recommend Antonia! She’s the kind of guide who makes you see a city through the eyes of someone who genuinely cares.

One thing to keep in mind is that the tour’s pace can be a bit brisk, especially if you’re not a frequent walker or if the heat is high—something to consider if you have mobility concerns or prefer leisurely sightseeing.

Overall, if you’re someone who loves history, architecture, or just enjoys exploring with knowledgeable locals, this tour works well. Boats were new and exceptional. Each stop provided a different opportunity to learn about the area or see something beautiful. Great experience for the cost. A true value.

Your guide will share stories about the history of the palace and its significance today, which many travelers find adds a new layer of appreciation. Based on reviews, guides like Ivana, Frane, and Mia are highly praised for their passion, humor, and ability to keep everyone engaged.

You’ll also see the Golden Gate, the main entrance to the palace, and walk down the Riva Harbor, where the views on the water are hard to beat.

After about two hours in Split, a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle takes you to Trogir, often described as a “little Venice” thanks to its narrow, winding streets and beautifully preserved architecture.

Here, you’ll visit the central square, the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), and the Saint Lawrence’s Cathedral, notable for its impressive facade. These landmarks aren’t just pretty—they’re packed with stories and history, which your guide will happily share.

There is a lot of walking , but it is worth seeing all the sites. Small van ride to Trigor was well planned and the van will take you back to cruise port or back to the Golden Gate. Our tour guide was excellent as was the van drivers. Highly recommend this tour.
Meg M
This was truly one of the best tours I've ever done. Ivana was a fount of fascinating information, but it was her energy and enthusiasm that brought everything to life. We especially appreciated the way she drew our attention to details that showed how the palace had been transformed over 1700 years. We'd walked around for a bit before the tour, but during the tour, we came to understand what we had been seeing.

Plenty of walking but not up hill. Don't forget your camera. Trogir very pretty. Mixed history of the Dalmatian coast. Enjoy.

In Trogir, you also get some free time to browse, relax, or grab a coffee, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The St Sebastian church and Kula Karmelengo fortress offer additional sights if you want to explore further—though note, some of these are not included in the entrance fee, so budget accordingly if you want to go inside.

The Walking and Transportation Aspects

One of the biggest perks of this tour is the round-trip transfer from Split. It means you won’t need to worry about taxis, parking, or navigating public transport—just hop on and enjoy the scenery. The vehicle is air-conditioned, which is a relief on hot days, and it allows the group to move comfortably between sites.

The walking portions are manageable for most, but some reviews note that the pace can be quick, especially for older travelers or those with mobility issues. If you’re concerned about walking or standing for extended periods, it’s worth mentioning that the tour covers several key landmarks with brief stops—most of which are not overly strenuous, but a good pair of walking shoes is recommended.

Loads of information about the Diocletian Palace and Trogir. I really enjoyed Trogir and would have loved to have more time to explore. Ivana was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable.
Beth P
Guide was very knowledgeable, took us through the whole city and let us take time where we wanted to. Trip to.Trogir was wonderful.
Lynn R
Mia was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable and did everything she could to ensure you had a good time. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good in Trogir but again Mia found some shelter to continue her talks. Would definitely recommend and thank you Mia you’re a star!

However, it’s important to remember that entrance tickets to the landmarks are not included—so if you want to go inside certain sites like Saint Lawrence’s Cathedral or Kamerlengo Castle, you’ll need to buy tickets separately. Still, many travelers find the guided overview perfectly sufficient, especially given the engaging storytelling.
