What we like most about this trip is the chance to see the Blue Cave, a true highlight, and the small-group vibe, which makes the day more personal and less crowded. Plus, the stops for swimming and snorkeling at places like Budikovac Island’s Blue Lagoon are great for those hot summer days.

On the flip side, one consideration is that some reviews mention issues with organization and that some highlights might not be fully accessible every day due to weather or other factors.

The highlight of this trip for us was going to THE BLUE CAVE! Our tour started ten minutes late because the receptionist and tour guide were discussing something. Our first stop was suppose to be to the blue cave but we detoured to small fishing village. After walking through the streets for 15-20 minutes we realized there was nothing to do here except to have coffee and breakfast around the marina area. This was an hour and 15 minute stop. Once back on the boat we were informed that the blue cave was closed but would probably reopen in an hour so we made another stop at a swimming area where the only way to get to the beach was to swim. After another hour once again we were told the blue c…

The Itinerary Breakdown

1. Blue Cave — The Main Attraction

Your first stop is the famous Blue Cave on Bisevo Island, about an hour and 15 minutes from Split. This cave is the star of the show, with water that looks like it’s glowing thanks to the sunlight bouncing off the limestone bottom.

Expect to spend about 30 minutes here, just enough time to marvel at the vibrant colors and take some photos. Keep in mind, entrance tickets are not included, so you’ll need to pay on arrival.

Going to Hvar, Vis and the blue cave was a memorable trip. I’m so in love of Croatia and the beautiful color of its sea. We when to swim at two different spots around Vis Island: the blue lagoon and other spot that I still amazed of the cobalt blue color of the water near Stiniva Beach

Well worth it- it’s a beautiful full day out from Split. The blue cave is amazing and every other stop was wonderful. The crew were excellent they were prompt and professional and the company made safety our priority. I would recommend Waterworld

2. Komiza Village

Next, the boat heads to Komiza, a classic fishing village on Vis Island. With about 45 minutes here, you can stroll through the narrow alleyways, browse local shops, or just soak in the relaxed vibe of this charming spot. It’s a peaceful contrast to the busy caves and a good chance to stretch your legs.

3. Stiniva Cove

The next highlight is Stiniva Bay, voted Europe’s best beach in 2016. Accessible only by boat or foot, this secluded cove offers a stunning setting for a quick swim or just relaxing on the pebble beach. The stop here is about 45 minutes, enough to dip your toes in and enjoy the scenery.

4. Blue Lagoon on Budikovac Island

One of the most loved stops—the Blue Lagoon—is a shallow, turquoise spot great for swimming and snorkeling. The water here is inviting, and the calm shallows make it ideal for relaxing or exploring underwater. The tour provides snorkeling gear, so you can really take advantage of this spot during your 45-minute break.

5. Carpe Diem Bar

On Carpe Diem Island, known for its lively vibe, you get about 30 minutes to explore or jump in the water. It’s also famous for its parties and good food, making it a fun quick stop if you’re up for a lively scene.

The tour was very fun, we visited a lot of scenic places. However, the boat looked nothing like the one in pictures and there was no water provided. Inaccurate description of the services included. The crew was nice and friendly so it made it a better experience.
Jamie K
Great all day tour! We got to see and experience so many different spots with recommendations and information at each. The crew paid close attention to what the group wanted as far as timing and kept us very informed of what to expect. Marina was all smiles all day checking to make sure everyone was comfortable.
Tiarra K
The most amazing experience. This was the highlight of my time in spilt. Long day, wish we packed snacks to eat

6. Hvar Town

The final stop is Hvar, one of Croatia’s most popular harbors. You’ll have about 1.5 hours here, great for a leisurely lunch, some shopping, or a walk to see the fortress and pretty streets. It’s a great way to wrap up the day, giving you time to soak in the atmosphere.

The Experience in Action

Blue Cave & Island Escape: A Unique 6-Island Adventure from Split - The Experience in Action

Travelers report that the Blue Cave definitely lives up to expectations, with many describing it as a surreal, glowing spectacle, thanks to the sunlight bouncing off the limestone. “Our Captain Ivan was outstanding,” one reviewer praised, highlighting the importance of a guide for such a busy day.

However, some travelers mention that the itinerary is subject to change due to weather or other factors, which is typical for sea trips in this region. A few reviews note that the Blue Cave entrance fee is separate, so budget accordingly. And some guests felt that the timing was rushed—especially at the caves and Hvar—so if you prefer a slow pace, this might not be the best fit.

The Boat and Comfort

The boat itself is described as new and nice by most, but a couple of reviews complain about limited space and legroom. Since it’s a speedboat, expect a feeling of speed and some splashes—be prepared for a lively ride. The small group size helps with comfort and makes the experience feel more personalized, which many guests appreciate.

Alan was a fantastic captain! Despite the boat delay getting into the caves (not his fault), he made an amazingly memorable day for us, extending past sunset, and filled with highly memorable experiences!
Laura S
It was quite an adventure. It was a windy day and we went up and down like crazy, but the driver took us back safely (although we didn't always believe we would get to land again…). Would totally recommend, but be ready for an adventure, it's not a cruise!
Fra H
Loved the trip. I couldn’t find the exact meeting spot and was so afraid I was late, so I called the number that was given and they helped me get to the meeting spot. Nice people.

The Guides and Service

Most reviews laud the guides and crew for their friendliness and professionalism. One reviewer exclaimed, “Our Captain Ivan was outstanding,” which indicates that a good skipper can make all the difference. Conversely, a few reviews mention that some guides were inattentive or that the tour felt disorganized at times.

Here's some more things to do in Split

What’s Not Included?

One notable aspect is that Blue Cave entrance tickets are not covered in the price, so you’ll need cash or card for that. Also, some reviews mention that snorkel gear may be limited, so if underwater exploration is a priority, bring your own or plan to rent gear on site.

Who Is This Tour Best For?

This tour is ideal if you’re after a busy, fun-filled day that covers multiple highlights without the hassle of organizing transport and tickets yourself. It’s great for travelers who enjoy speedy boat rides and want to see the Blue Cave, several islands, and a charming town all in one go.

It’s best suited for those who don’t mind a fast pace and are okay with some minor uncertainties about weather and timing. If you’re traveling with teenagers or adults who love boating and sightseeing, you’ll likely find this trip exciting.

The tour was booked via Viator and due to be delivered by Waterworld Croatia. When we arrived the lady explained that the tour had been changed as the included lunch and the wine tasting were no longer part of the tour. She said the price had been updated on the website but Viator hadn't updated the text yet to remove the wine tasting and the lunch. The tour was pleasant. Luckily the weather was fine and warm at the end of the season. The Blue Cave was closed apparently due to weather.

However, if you’re looking for a slow, relaxed day with plenty of time at each spot or traveling with very young children, it might be a bit much. Also, if you’re sensitive to seasickness, the open speedboat and wave action could be a concern—though most find the ride thrilling rather than uncomfortable.

The Bottom Line: Is It Worth It?

Blue Cave & Island Escape: A Unique 6-Island Adventure from Split - The Bottom Line: Is It Worth It?

At around $127 per person, this tour offers good value considering the number of stops and the overall experience. The main draw—the Blue Cave—is breathtaking, and the stops for swimming and exploring small islands add a lot of fun. Plus, the small group size enhances the overall vibe, making it easier to ask questions and enjoy the ride.

But, keep in mind, this isn’t a leisurely day. You’ll be moving from place to place quite quickly, and some reviews mention inconsistencies like delays or missing highlights. The extra cost of cave tickets and potential for weather-related changes mean you should be flexible and prepared.

This trip is best for adventurous travelers who love a speedy tour packed with scenery and are happy to pay a little extra for a more personalized experience. If you’re looking for something more relaxed or want to spend significant time at each location, consider other options or splitting your sightseeing across multiple days.
